Normalizing Me and Breast Cancer at work with Glenda Mensah, Paula Flory and Patricia Flores

Normalizing Me and Breast Cancer at work with Glenda Mensah, Paula Flory and Patricia Flores
In this episode I sit down with 3 breast cancer survivors that narrate their experiences of going through their breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, and the important to their state of mind to continue working and how that support of their workplace played a big role in their lives. This panel was part of an event I moderated called "Me and breast cancer at work" as part of a series of events of the WFFC foundation called Pink Notes.  Globally, in 2020, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer. A survey reveals that 77 percent of working women with breast cancer, including those with metastatic disease, feel that working aids in their recovery. The Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce, Inc. is a professional association founded in 1982 to provide women in the flavour and fragrance industry a forum for networking, education, career advancement and camaraderie. WFFC strives to educate, engage and empower its members and with Pink Notes looks to provide women in the workplace with the support, advice and education they need.  Paula Flory is a WFFC board member, breast cancer survivor and CEO & Founder “Move Over Breast cancer". Patricia Florest is a breast cancer survivor and working mother. Glenda Mensah is a breast cancer survivor, the co-founder and chairwoman of the WFFC foundation, and currently works as an Account Director for Frallier.  Enjoy the episode!
Ep 24: Adjusting to Diabetes with Rafael Rosa

Ep 24: Adjusting to Diabetes with Rafael Rosa
Today we have musician, life enthusiast, and my friend, Rafael Rosa. Rafa lives with type 1 diabetes since he is 21 years old. Little did I know that underneath his 6'4'' height and big wonderful smile, I was going to get such an inspiring story of pure drive, focus and resilience. Rafa decided to take charge of his health and went into a very strict journey to educate himself on nutrition, his disease and think like a pancreas, to be able to follow his passion. He used his love and admiration for music as a driver to find what allowed him to 'feel as normal as possible' at the worst of times, to find whatever protocol gave him energy to pursue his dream and be around the people he admires.  Conversations like this is why I do this project, because like Rafa said: 'The beautiful thing about being a human is that we all need to inspire each other'.  Some 1.6 million Americans are living with Type 1 Diabetes, including about 200,000 youth (less than 20 years old) and 1.4 million adults (20 years old and older). 64,000 people are diagnosed each year in the U.S. 5 million people in the U.S. are expected to have Type 1 Diabetes by 2050, including nearly 600,000 youth You can find Rafa in his website: https://rafaelrosamusic.com/ or on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therafaelrosa/ and if you are interested in his music lessons you can contact him here: me@rafaelrosamusic.com ______ Check out more on Normal Adjustments on www.normaladjustments.com Follow us on Instagram: www.instagram.com/normaladjustments Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/normaladjustments  Or Nicole Faccio, the host, on Instagram www.instagram.com/facciolita

Ep 19: Normalizing Lipedema with Caroline Sprott

Ep 19: Normalizing Lipedema with Caroline Sprott
Lipedema isn't rare, but it is rarely diagnosed. It is estimated that more than 11% of the women population might have this fat deposit disorder, known by the pain patients experience with it. Today we have blogger, speaker, podcaster, Lipedema patient, compression garment model and eternal optimist, Caroline Sprott to tell us her story with Lipedema, her life with the chronic condition and her journey to acceptance. Caroline got diagnosed with Lipedema at 21 and after going through very challenging times and several disappointments, she decided to adopt a method she calls 'Fashion Therapy' to lift her spirits to work with the compression garments instead of working against them. She now inspires many others, like me, to wear the garments proudly and that compression is not our enemy. She teaches us many more lessons about the power of a positive mindset, but for those you will need to tune in and listen to this amazing conversation.  Caroline, thank you for being you, and for becoming my Delusional sister ;) You can learn more about Caroline, her blog, podcast and her endeavours here: https://www.lipoedemmode.de/links/ And find her on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/caroline.sprott/ ______ Check out more on Normal Adjustments on www.normaladjustments.com Follow us on Instagram: www.instagram.com/normaladjustments Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/normaladjustments  Or Nicole Faccio, the host, on Instagram www.instagram.com/facciolita
