Out and Back with Hillary Allen
Hillary Allen Hillary Allen was ranked #1 in the world sky running series when she fell 150 feet off a mountain ridge. Hillary’s career as an endurance athlete has not been straightforward. Through injury, setbacks, and unexpected challenges, Hillary’s had to re-think what she considers impossible. Early in her career, Hillary earned the nickname “Hillygoat” when she proved her ability to run fast on steep, technical mountain terrain –  a style of running known as Skyrunning.   Since then, she has raced all over the world, racking up wins and course records, establishing herself as one of the best mountain ultra runners in the world. In 2017 she had a life-threatening accident, where she fell 150 feet off of a ridge-line during a Skyrace in Tromsø, Norway. She was told she would never run again. After several years of rehab and recovery, Hillary made a full recovery and returned to elite-level racing, racing some of her longest and most challenging events post-accident. She maintains the belief that ‘your best athletic days are ahead of you if you’re willing to work hard for what you love.’ Hillary also studies and teaches science, using her master's degree in neuroscience and physiology, and structural biology. She is also a trail running coach and a gravel cyclist.   So you know she's Legit: UC Denver School of Medicine

Katie is a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN/RD) and founder of Spada Strong Nutrition LLC. For 11 years, her life was completely focused on her career as a competitive synchronized swimmer. She ate, slept, and breathed synchronized swimming. After college, she hung up the goggles and was quickly flooded with questions about her identity after sport. "I no longer identify as a synchronized swimmer, so who was I? I no longer had structured workouts daily, so what do I do? I no longer had fueling stations available, so most importantly, WHAT DO I EAT?" Even as a “soon-to-be RD”, I was struggling with my nutrition and body image. It’s not easy to go from an elite-level athlete into NARP life after sport (I feel you!). So many changes occur, including how you need to fuel your body and probably how you feel about your body too. I’m here to help! Stephanie Mundt is a physical therapist & running coach in Scottsdale, AZ. Her business Volante PT & Performance specializes in helping recovering female runners return to training & competition without fear of re-injury. Steph was a distance runner in high school & college, struggling with an eating disorder that contributed to repetitive bone stress injuries. She hopes to transform & improve the management of running-related injuries in females to foster a greater sense of resiliency & empowerment among these athletes.  "The fear of being told to stop running has kept me & runners I know from getting help when aches or pains pop up because running is so much more than a form of exercise. It’s a way to unwind from the day or week, to push yourself harder and further than you ever thought possible, and a space where you can be truly free.  But the good news is this: with many running-related injuries, you don't have to stop - you may just need guidance in modifications while your body adapts & heals."   Instagram: @drsteph_volantept  Facebook: Stephanie Mundt  WE Run FB Community  Two Women Running Their Mouths Podcast  So you know she's legit: Owner  Volante PT & Performance  Scottsdale, Arizona  Physical therapy & run coaching: helping runners overcome setbacks so they can get back to training & racing at their highest level.  University of Southern California  Doctor of Physical Therapy - 2017  Arizona State University  Bachelor of Science (B.S.)  Kinesiology and Exercise Science  2008 – 2012
