Our Editor's Take

Who? Weekly is a pop culture podcast. The focus is on people whose names are familiar. The difference between a "who" and a Hollywood A-lister is that most people don't know why the "who" is famous. The hosts, Lindsey Weber and Bobby Finger, discuss "whos" and Hollywood A-listers.

Before the Who? Weekly podcast, Lindsey hosted a live virtual reality talk show called Slate's Conundrums. She's written for The New York Times Magazine and Billboard, among other publications.

Bobby released his debut novel, The Old Place, in 2022. Before that, he wrote for Jezebel, New York Times, and Vanity Fair. Lindsey and Bobby are friends, which makes Who? Weekly fun to listen to. They are enthusiastic about the information they have to share. This makes the podcast an exuberant and lively listen.

Who? Weekly does a great job of explaining who the D-listers are, and why others like them. Each show title mentions the celebrities discussed, with a question mark after the names. Episode titles are things like "Jay Shetty, Kate Harrison & Eric Andre?" An episode might begin with the hosts playing their favorite sound clips from the latest red-carpet event. Then they might talk about which memes a couple appears in. They often end the show by naming the #1 Who? of the Day.

This podcast can be a valuable resource for people who want to know why someone is trending. Google and Wikipedia can't always answer the question, "Who is this?" Scrolling through social media might reveal more than someone wants to see.

A search or a scroll through Who? Weekly episode titles might be more helpful. Is Rita Ora famous for something besides being Taika Waititi's wife? But who is Taika Waititi? Which one is Alison Brie, and which one is Brie Larson? There is another useful option for people who don't hear the answers they need in the podcast. The hosts invite listeners to ask them about "whos" they want the answer to. The cohosts may answer the queries on the podcast. Topics range from "Are they back together?" to, "Is this person a 'who'?" New episodes come out several times a week. This way, fans can keep up with "who" they need to know about.
