Osman has close to 30 years of experience in schools and has had leadership positions at several schools including Deputy Principal, Head of Senior School, IB Director and Head of Community Engagement. Osman has a passion for service learning, leadership, interfaith/intercultural student experiences and STEAM programs in schools and is driving the culture in those areas at Arkana College. The AISNSW Community Cohesion Podcast series is developed by The Association of Independent Schools NSW.Julia is joined by Dr. Robyn Moloney and Dr. Maria Lobytsyna to talk about their research with schools in developing intercultural understanding.  Dr. Robyn Moloney is Honorary Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, with a background in modern languages teaching and teacher education. Dr. Moloney's research centers on young students' intercultural development and inclusive school cultures. She is also an accomplished author with several books on linguistic and cultural diversity, including an upcoming release in 2024 building on her previous work in intercultural learning. Dr. Maria Lobytsyna is a researcher, teacher, and languages educator, Dr. Lobytsyna is actively involved in both school settings and Macquarie University. Her expertise lies in creative aspects of intercultural learning for students and teachers. Julia and Kate are joined by Rabbi Zalman Kastel AM, Dean and Founder, Together For Humanity.Rabbi Kastel was raised in the ultra-orthodox Hasidic tradition in the racially divided Crown Heights area of Brooklyn, New York. He saw the world through the lens of his absolute tradition and the narrative of his community. This changed in 2001, when encounters with Christians and Muslims transformed him. Rabbi Kastel has had a lot of laughter, surprises and dilemmas on his journey of interfaith cooperation and bringing positive experiences of diversity to young Australians. He is still a Hasidic Rabbi teaching bible study at Chabad House North Shore in Sydney. He was ordained as a Rabbi after study in the UK, Australia and the US, and completed a Graduate Diploma in Education with the University of New England, Armidale. Rabbi Kastel has a passion for working across communities to develop better understanding between the major faiths. He founded Together For Humanity (previously The Goodness and Kindness Project) in 2002. Julia Gyomber from the AISNSW Community Cohesion Team speaks with Dr Ari Lander and Olivier Kameya, two of the co-founders from Kumva and Kwibuka. Olivier is a passionate classroom teacher and versatile public speaker with lived experience on the matters of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Olivier speaks of the lasting impact of the genocide and the other crimes against humanity with the message of empathy and the question of individual and collective responsibility.  Dr Ari Lander has extensive experience working with survivors of the stolen generation. The Jewish Holocaust and Rwandan genocide. He completed his doctoral thesis at the University of NSW in oral history and has lectured and tutored on a variety of subjects, including comparative genocide.
