A (Very!) Rough Guide to the Cosmos! With Oliver Baum & Nicholas RosseinskyAt least: this is how it currently seems to us! ...Ground-of-Being, One-Being, SoulsVeils' tentative view begins at the most fundamental Reality-level. We see a Self-Sourcing Ground-of-Being, distinct from the True Self of Eastern non-dual traditions, but also very distinct from a punitive, patriarchal, anthropomorphic God. The Ground is the deepest: there's nothing beyond. In Creation, the Ground replicates itself (in a non-separative way!), birthing the One-Being. The One (similar to True Self, Buddha Nature, Christ Consciousness, very loosely speaking!)  has all the functions/capacities of the Ground. But the One differs in an absolutely-vital way: the Ground is self-Creating, self-Sourcing; the One is Created by the Ground. Souls are then created (again in a non-separating way), when the One focuses in on each of its infinite aspects (each focus birthing a specific Soul), and then on the infinity-upon-infinity-upon-infinity of aspect-combinations (more Souls!). The Ocean of Form-based UniversesEverything so far happens in a Formless way, meaning, without sound, shapes, texture etc. (For a metaphorical sketch of Formlessness, imagine a psychic communication of pure meaning, without words or images!)But real-Reality (aka the Cosmos) is more than just the Formless realm. Amongst other things, there’s a limitless Ocean, in which every drop is itself a Form-based Universe (i.e. – in some cases – a Universe somewhat like ours!). Enlightenment, real-Reality We use ‘Enlightenment’ to label the eternal condition of real-Reality – non-separate, Absolutely Loving, Intelligent etc. Clearly (to most of us!) our Universe isn't in that condition! (E.g.: everything seems to be separate!) In fact, our Universe as typically experienced is displaced from the Cosmos, in a specific sense. 'What Went Wrong?!'We use ‘alleged-Reality’ to describe a Dream-of-Separation that our Universe (unlike almost all others) can support. This Dream – an apparent departure from real-Reality – occurs because one or more Souls try to make themselves self-Creating, which Souls' innate other-Created nature just makes impossible.Cosmic Glitch, Primal Wound Souls’ insistence on impossibility leads to Splitting of their Will from the Ground's Will (simply: for Souls to be Free, Loving, Creators!), and to the Great AS/IF (‘Alleged Separation’/’Imagined Fall’). This Universe can be a place for hiding out from GoB*. (Repeatedly, in successive Universe-incarnations/cycles.) Or, it can be a place for the kindest, most joy-full, re-awakening to GoB-relationship!Equivalently, there are two major versions of science, describing and enacting these 'two uses for a material Universe'!Mainstream Science is a Veil!Mainstream science is a huge (and ungrounded!) obstacle to Birthing Spirit in the Modern World. Why? It claims everything can be explained in terms of matter-energy (plus spacetime). And then defines those constructs (without grounds!) to exclude GoB, Spirit, etc.  A New Science: One Mainstream-AlternativeWe discuss one of many mainstream-alternatives, which preserves the rigorous, experiment-based precision of institutional science. How can science both change (to this 'alternative') and stay the same (keep precision, etc.)? Mainly: do the experiments it currently rejects.  Then, integrate the results - with rigor and precision ...!A New Science, Part 1: 'One Experiment' to Change the WorldThe single most important experiment for the 21st-century (and beyond) isn't in particle- or astro-physics. It's in the science of conscious experience. By comparing a detailed computer-simulation of a matter-only brain with actual brain-data we can see if conscious experience sends information 'back' into the brain. (Matter-brain activity is based on things like red- & green-wavelength light. Consciousness includes redness & greenness.  Red/redness are distinct information classes.) The One Experiment can crack open the tragically-mistaken foundations of mainstream science, by demonstrating a supra-material information-stream coupling with the brain. This doesn't 'disprove science': it creates a new, bigger, one!A New Science, Part 2: The Riemann Hypothesis & the Awakening of MatterTo get to an Intelligent science (!!!), we must also set matter in a psychospiritual context, and analyze the matter-field's basic problem: how can its random-&-mechanical (quantum-theoretic!) activity to return to 'Life'? We discuss a remarkable hypothesis: the putative truth of the Riemann Hypothesis proves this return will happen in finite time (despite appearances!). And an even more remarkable idea: people who truly 'grok' this, can communicate it to matter, and thus actively catalyze return! But Isn't 'Quantum Spirituality' the New Science?!Personal appeals to 'quantum spirituality' are unproblematic. But in the collective interfacing of science & spirituality, they're generally a disaster! They try to explain real-Reality* in terms of a feature within the AS/IF*-Dream! Science, Spirituality ... and Magic!One current spiritual theme is 'down-play science, to re-enchant Nature'. This is wrong. Science is needed for re-enchantment. Previous Work: 'Sacred'/'Deep'/... EconomyA lot of great work identifies alternatives to current economic theory/practice, as 'Sacred', 'Deep' etc. [As well as Butterworth, authors that Nicholas appreciates but 'spaced' in the Episode include Eisenstein and McKibben.] We use 'Divine Economy' here to point to something distinct, and far more radical. Ideas: 'The Perfect Good'Nicholas re-purposes the term 'perfect good' ('good' in the sense of 'goods and services'), here to describe something that can be shared with others and kept at the same time. ('Non-rivalrous' is the actual econ-term.) Ideas are 'perfect' in this sense. A super-important nuance for Divine Economy is the difference between solely-imaginative ideas ('a pink elephant'), and capital-I Ideas as existences-in-the-Mind-of-the-Ground* (e.g., Souls' very existence is as Ideas of this kind!)The Matter with MatterAn Idea can be given from one Mind to all other Minds and still exist equally in all of them. A cup made-of-matter can't be shared in this way! ('Mind' here is closer to 'Cosmic Consciousness' than 'the space in the head where thoughts appear'!) Matter derives from Split Will* and is an obstacle to Divine Economy. So, the realization of Divine Economy in our sub-reality depends on disinvestment from Split Will. But Divine Economy itself continually exists in real-Reality (and always has!).The Heart of Divine Economy:Imagine GoB metaphorically as a Circle, full of Light. Now imagine the GoB-Circle Creates a dozen empty circles 'around Itself'. Then picture GoB sharing that Light - as a perfect good! -  with-and-into the dozen. If that Light is 'everything' (in some sense!), there's now more-Everything!But there's more! (Always, it turns out!) Now envision the dozen inside the Original Circle (because GoB Creates in a non-separate way). Not only is there more-Everything, but GoB HerSelf Is more-Everything, after sharing. (Before, She was 1-Everything. Now, She's 13!) And it goes on (and on): each small circle actually 'contains' (non-separatively) all the others, so ...The Heart: ideas can be given from one mind to all minds; and, if Minds are non-separate, one act of giving increases Reality* infinitely in each Mind. (This takes a little reflection to see!)Giving, Receiving, & Divine EconomyIn the foundations of real-Reality, Reality itself is maintained (in an eternally-expanding way!) by the Ground giving All-to-All, and by Souls receiving and then re-sharing All, Everywhere! All problems with human finances/economics/ money, are to do with our distancing ourselves from real-Reality, and nomos-of-Its-oikos! ('Economics' is direction/stewardship of the household, in Greek.) Culture has many definitions: we discuss values/ethics, religion, and a non-contradictory patchwork of cultural components (art, morality, spirituality/religion, science).Ethical SystemsWhat's right and wrong? What do these words mean - right/wrong for purpose, or morally good/bad? Is there an objective truth about moral action, or is it culturally-contingent? Are there universal 'moral laws' ?!Without answering all these questions (!), we look at Split Will* as the source of suffering. One moral near-Absolute is that disinvestment from Split Will reduces separation, and therefore suffering. However, navigating this pointer in any actual context demands the Intelligence of the ARC* (whch is literally made-to-do-this!).An Awakened CultureCulture on a planet of Awakened Beings need not be monolithic. E.g., in terms of economic values, forms of both socialism and capitalism could be present. Moreover, 'Awakening' (at least currently!) describes a variety of different states, and so culture could contain a corresponding variety of religions/spiritualities. And - in fact! - science of a specific kind can also (implicitly!) be a path to Awakening. Finally, ethical behavior need not depend on any code or scientific/spiritual narrative: it can simply arise, in an undistorted Being. A Non-Contradictory PatchworkOn the way to the Total-Awakening-of-the-Universe* - and a joyful firework-completion of this-Universe-as-'Game'! - humanity must at some point create an enduring/sustainable culture. This would be a patchwork quilt of components, non-contradictory 'horizontally' (with each other) and 'vertically' (with real-Reality!).Obviously, what we have now, instead, is a fragmented, conflicting, jumble! Sometimes it seems the insanity will go on forever ...SchismThe foundation of Veils' theocosmology is that Souls have creative freedom to induce separation from real-Reality. Separation as a transient Dream is called alleged-Reality*. Separation forever (in time) would be called Schism. Schism is one of the trickiest issues facing humankind - and almost completely neglected. To illustrate a touch of a hint of the nuance: realization of Schism would correspond to the creation of an actual Hell, and is therefore impossible. Nevertheless, there are forces driving in that direction. What's to be done? Nothing, if Schism is impossible. Everything, to avoid the loss-of-everything that Schism would entail! Here's the Koan: Schism is impossible, but there are things we must do to ensure that impossibility! ReligionMany forms of religion/spirituality are needed, to respond to separation. But not every form is a situationally-optimal contribution. We consider traditional ('punitive God') Christianity, and a 'cleaned up' version as a powerful cultural artefact. This must partner with a 'cleaned up' (and deepened!) science, open forms of non-dual Eastern spiritualities, shamanic/indigenous traditions, and various (non-contradictory!) systems-for-living. This Episode is the second of three looking at Conditioning: we discuss the idea that Familial (E7), Societal (this Episode), and Cultural (E9) versions form a sort of interlinked trinity.Family vs SocietyAlthough there are some similarities, Society isn't quite the same as one big Family, in terms of conditioning.  For example, Society sets its own limits (e.g. laws), whereas Family norms can (usually!) only vary within a societally-acceptable envelope. Conditioning: What is It Good For?Liberation spiritualities and personal-growth modalities tend to be unanimous in decrying the limiting effects of conditioning. (And those effects certainly exist, and are usually associated with suffering.) But there's also a way in which conditioning is a repackaging of the effects of Split Will*, in a more tractable and ultimately constructive way. Nevertheless, if all that Society does is suppress and look away from what's behind conditioning, we just live in a toxic smokescreen, without ever undoing its source.Society-without-Illusion?Ultimately, after the Total Awakening* of our Universe, society - and everything else! - will be free of the bondage of conditioning, and of the illusion of separation. As an intermediate step towards that Awakening, human society must begin to look more deeply at what's going on, in terms of Split Will, and (e.g.) the repackaging of Its effects in/as matter. That looking must be done with Intelligence (synonymous with living from a Heart of Wholeness and Oneness).Community vs SocietyCommunity (like E7's One True Cosmic Family!) is imbued with the Light of Communion, notably Communion with GoB*. But conventional society more than lacks that Communion:  it actively suppresses it, via collective collusion in narcissism and fragmented scientific/spiritual reality-narratives (inherited from the cultural domain). To restore Communion, we need to strip out contradiction/conflict, while retaining distinct-and-differing perspectives.What Can Be Done/Said?!Both what we need to look at societally (e.g. Split Will) and the resources we need, to look constructively (e.g. Intelligence), seem to be deeply buried. And things that are supposed to help us (e.g. spiritual traditions) often move in multiple contradictory directions ... So what's to be done? If we can find the quality of consciousness that can smile at 'life is suffering', we can share it with like-minded others (and so strengthen it in everyone), and take action to liberate it, universally. And we can find that consciousness: it's the ARC*, and it's already literally everywhere (in both real- and alleged-Reality). Importantly, we must draw on the ARC's guidance in liberation-orientated societal-relating, because otherwise our best intentions may backfire in their effects.Community in a Time of Societal PolarizationOverall, we propose that community can be an antidote to fragmented society, especially in a context of increasing polarization. Well, this one's definitely an Episode of two halves!Part 1: Conditioning Occurring in the Family SettingWe revisit the two-fold model of Glitch/Wound*, or AS/IF*+incarnation. Death, Guilt, Shame etc. deeply originate in psychospiritual territory, 'pre-dating' birth (and typically continuing until and even after death!). Then, fear-of-death, and guilt-and-shame, are powerful conduits for rules-of-belonging, conditioning children to think, feel, and act in family-specific, limited modes.Yes, But ,,, Is That All Bad?!This Universe can be seen in two ways. It's a perfect place to hide out from GoB*, intentionally forever. Or, it's a perfect place to gradually recover the GoB relationship. Analogously, 'damaging' family conditioning that creates separative veils can be seen as a useful way to dim an otherwise-triggering Divine Light. Similarly, if attachment in early-life is 'too secure', there can be a comfort that obstructs a movement away from ultimately-false family beliefs (the ultimately most-significant of these being about matter and local-reality!).Recurrence of Family Conditioning: 'Transcend and Return'Even after a first-pass liberation from family conditioning, on the way to transcending local-reality and conventional-identity, there are certain return-to-incarnate-life paths that can involve the recurrence of those same familial energies and constraints. The Veils framework can be uniquely helpful in understanding and navigating this recurrence, via the idea that matter itself contains potent forms of imprisonment, and a pointer to the ARC* (and  'Troot' - the origin-point of the ARC) as the reality-aspect designed to help us navigate matter and its Enlightenment!Part 2: Conditioning Inherent in the Construct/Conception of 'Family' In a switch of view, really standing in and for One Cosmic Family, without division, the second half explores a somewhat contrary view: 'Yes, Family really is essentially an unhelpful and pointless societal construct!' (For example - according to this view: current conceptions of 'family' always take us away from that One Family, and try to keep us away from relationship with the Ground.)Family as Structure for Free Play, vs Obstructive/Divisive ConstructThe Knowledge/Mystery frontier is one of humankind's crucial (and unappreciated!) challenges: how do we put structure (e.g. 'knowledge') together with un-structure (aka 'Mystery') in a way that simply expands Goodness? This doesn't happen when 'structure' means 'conditioned bondage'! Similarly, current 'family' conceptions might mean bondage, but future versions may offer structures for free play! Soul FamilySouls emphasize specific aspects in One Being; emphases on relatively-similar aspects create Soul families. In one view, resonance between Soul-family members can help propel Souls out of material identification and towards astral realms. What are Life Statements and Limiting Beliefs?One model depicts Statements and Beliefs as a tree, with a trunk formed from one of two positions: 'I'm bad', or 'I'm worthless/not-good-enough'. Branches and twigs coming off this trunk are typically formed by ingesting and crystallizing some Family Beliefs, by self-directed creative cognitions, and/or by pressures from society and culture. As with other aspects of early-life psychology, this structure can have far greater impact than current mainstream science allows. E.g.,  if inaccurate and limiting statements are pushed into 'the causal mind', they don't just govern how we react to or process events (as mainstream science can allow for). They can govern or influence the very life-events we create!The Belief that Originates All Limits!As previous Episodes discuss, the Veils approach identifies twocausal components for human suffering: a pre-birth Cosmic Glitch* (also prior to the birth of the Universe!), and an in-life Primal Wound - the definitive incarnational 'landing' of the Glitch.Traditional treatments discuss limiting beliefs only relative to the Wound and incarnational-local events (perhaps including conception, gestation and birth - but only of the child, not of the Universe!) The Veils approach points out the belief that's the source of all limits, a belief predating the Universe itself: 'It's a good idea for a Soul to try to be self-creating'!Veils' Unique Treatment of Matter's Life StatementsA powerful and unique feature of the Veils framework treats the material Universe as a repackaging of guilt, fear, fury, grief etc, originating in the Great AS/IF*. This frame makes it meaningful to speak about Life Statements and Limiting Beliefs of matter itself, a construct which no other approach can support (to our knowledge!).The densest, darkest Life Statement is 'suffering and separation go on forever' - in fact the very origin of the matter-field's density and mass.Matter's Life Statements Can Diffuse into  PsychePsyche can be thought of as a bubble with a membrane protecting it from matter's darkest density. But this membrane can become permeable. 'Suffering is forever' can then pour into psyche. We discuss the cases of chronic refractory depression, and drug-induced psychosis. Primal Wound - DefinitionThe Primal Wound is essentially early-life trauma that severs the connection to 'Self' - who we are in real-Reality*! In later life, as well as self-alienation, we can feel disconnected and act disconnected from other humans, from Nature, and from the Ground-of-Being itself. The Glitch/Wound ControversyThe Primal-Wound hypothesis has started to become culturally-acceptable, even conventional. (E.g.: anti-Trump explanations of his behavior in terms of his father-Wound!) This Episode asserts that placing all the ills-of-the-world at the feet of the Primal Wound has gone a therapy-session-or-ten too far. An alternative is that the Cosmic Glitch* is causally-prior to, and causally more-significant than, the Primal Wound. The Wholeness/Oneness Distinction'Wholeness' can point to inner coherence of a given Being, and 'Oneness' can label non-separation of All Beings. Then Primal Wound is the fundamental disruption of wholeness, and Glitch is the fundamental disruption of Oneness.A Wound-Free World = Heaven-on-Earth?!In the extreme version of current cultural-momentum about Wound-as-source-of-all-ills, a Wound-free world would be Heaven, Nirvana etc. We strongly dissent from this view! And see it as a dangerous avoidance of deeper enquiry!Primal Wound: Distinct from Glitch, Not Disconnected from Glitch!It's important to see Glitch and Wound as two distinct things,. But it's also helpful to see them as two ends of one piece of string: the Glitch starts a connected-process that 'ends' in the Wound. Primal Wound and Earth-RelationshipThe entire matter-Universe is the  body of a child - the child of Divine Masculine and Feminine essences, whose relationship is 'infected' with Glitch.  The Primal Wound/Glitch model draws attention to this child's consciousness - what we call the Fallen Universal Soul. And so to the need for the Total Awakening of the Universe, including the Awakening or Enlightenment of Matter (a frankly astonishing implication of the Veils framework!).Both Up-and-Down, as a Comprehensive Approach to Undoing GlitchIn a 'three-world' model, 'Heaven' is Above, 'Earth' is the Middle, and 'Underworld' is Below. (In this model, Below is the domain of the Fallen Universal Soul.) Various extant, traditional, approaches in human spirituality (e.g. non-dualisms, shamanic practices) tend to approach either the Above or the Below. But a comprehensive approach to the Glitch (the causal root of separation and suffering) must go Up and Down. A Tumultuous Romp through Gender in Spiritual Life, with Oliver Baum and Nicholas Rosseinsky Starting in the 'Beyond'!The crucial starting point for our tour: the Ground-of-Being* and the One-Being*(True Self, Buddha Nature, Christ Consciousness) are neither masculine nor feminine! This level of Reality is genderless, or as Oliver likes to call it, 'isogenous'.Psychospiritual vs PsychologicalWe descend from genderless Ground/One, via three realms: the psychospiritual, the psychological, and the material.  We only get to 'bodies' - a primary component of current controversies - in the last of those! We use (Nicholas' desecration of!) David Deida's extraordinary approach, to traverse the psychospiritual realm. There, 'masculine' has to do with space/stillness/non-movement, Truth, and Purpose; 'feminine' has to do with movement and Love.  In more-familiar psychological accounts, the masculine is agentic, going out into the world to accomplish goals, and the feminine is receptive and nurturing.  Here the masculine seems closer to movement and the feminine to stillness: the opposite of the psychospiritual realm! Why are things so confusing?! Because we're in a post-(Imagined!)-Fall* Universe, in which many (but not all!) things are arranged to obscure/obstruct the Journey Home! Masculine/feminine terrain can be a huge challenge ... But equally, a powerful resource! Psychospiritual Possibilities: Divine/Non-Separate vs 'Nearly-Divine'!In Universes without separation, every Being has complete masculine-&-feminine aspects: 'Divine' can be used to describe this configuration. But in ourUniverse, it seems there was a Glitch* early on in pre-Big-Bang dynamics, which (amongst other things) typically disrupts both a given Being's access to her/his own completeness, and the inter-Being relating of masculine and feminine aspects. Gender Identity ControversiesOur frame allows an unconventionally-diverse spectrum of energetic configurations (including a beyond-gender aspect for every Being!). Unlike every other frame we know of, it also has a clear place for matter (aka 'bodies'!). So, we're able to offer some new (maybe even helpful!) views on current fierce debates. The Battle of the Sexes, and the GlitchThe so-called 'Battle of the Sexes' is often attributed to society and its historic norms, and/or to childhood wounding. In the Veils approach, we don't deny or bypass the significance of these. But we do point to what seems to be a massively-neglected factor deeeeep in the Earthly battle - namely, the near-Cosmic Glitch. Gender and the deVeiling/Awakening ProcessWe can look at the Battle of the Sexes as a potentially-endless conflict. A New Take on Duality and Non-Separation with Oliver Baum and Nicholas RosseinskyWhat are Duality and Non-Separation? We start by kicking around various definitions of duality and non-separation. For those who aren't into psycho-spirituality, these terms - depending how you define them! - are used to point to the experience, condition, or reality-setting, in which awakened/enlightened beings find themselves.As a more everyday  (non-spiritual!) orientation, consider the closeness you feel with loved ones. Taken to the limit, perhaps you've felt 'not separate' from them? There, you're not empathising with their feelings - you're having those feelings directly with them. This is more-or-less the essence of non-separation. Why are Duality/Non-Separation Important?Both the spiritual and everyday definitions point to the significance of this Episode's themes. Whether its in terms of spiritual Bliss/Truth or simple everyday Love, duality is an obstacle, and non-separation is the Ground where these things naturally flourish. Put dualistically: duality-Bad, non-separation Good. (Yes: this is irony!)Origins of Alleged-Duality, Obstacles to 'Recovering' Non-SeparationWe discuss some radically-new viewpoints on the origins of alleged-duality, including what happened before the Big Bang, and what then obstructs the 'recovery' of non-separation (crucially, including the nature of matter itself!). A Fresh Look at Ego and Ego Processes, with Oliver Baum and Nicholas RosseinskyThe Importance of 'Ego'Naturally, 'Ego' is not as important as Ego would have us believe! (Psycho-therapeutic in-joke!) By now though, even those who aren't therapeutically-expert or spiritually-inclined will have come across (or even made!) references to the 'egos' of loved ones, co-workers, politicians, celebrities, and so on. But what is meant by the word 'ego'?! What does it label, or point to?At Least Two Meanings of 'Ego'!In this epsiode, Oliver and Nicholas discuss (at least!) two meanings of 'ego'. One is a set of localized psychological functions and activities. Far from being problematic (as ego is often taken to be), in this sense ego is necessary for individuated relating. Another major meaning of 'ego' labels a process that is more-or-less synonymous with separation from real-Reality*. In this sense, separative ego-process is the root of all problems! The Origin of Separative Ego-Process: Early Life, or ...?It's becoming common in psychotherapy to attribute the beginnings of separative ego-process - the start of identification with a false Self, in psychospiritual terms - to early life events (the events of birth, infancy, toddlerhood etc.). In this series, we question whether early life is really fundamental to the origin of separative ego, or whether there's a deeper dynamic at play.Ego: What's to be "Done"?!Obviously, 'what's to be done' depends on what we mean by ego! We discuss one major confusion in which people seem to believe separation (ego, in one sense) is necessary for boundaries, and therefore vital to basic relating of differentiated beings.  Here, conflating separation and differentiation is a major mistake. Another confusion relates to spiritual awakening: awakening is certainly disinvestment from separation, and ultimately synonymous with the ending of separative ego-process. Nevertheless, to walk the path of awakening typically requires very 'strong' (or 'healthy') ego-functions. (For example, boundary-holding!) This isn't paradoxical, once we realize and disambiguate the multiple, somewhat-contradictory, meanings often assigned to the single e-g-o word!*For more on terminology like 'real-Reality', keep listening!
