Our Editor's Take

The Program Guyz Podcast provides a place for fans of the University of Oklahoma to share their love for their favorite sports teams. The program offers a wide overview of Sooner sports, which fans may find helpful. However, the main focus of the podcast is on Sooner football and softball. Some topics include national sports leagues, such as the NFL.

The hosts and creators of this podcast are Matt Gann, Mark Hall, Patrick Herzberger, Mason Prince, and Ryan Theissen. It is worth noting that none of the hosts are professional sportswriters. Instead, they are passionate OU grads who want to share their fandom with other Sooners.

With this podcast, they created a new forum for fans, new and old, to come together. The show has a loose and informal feel. In many ways, listening to the podcast feels like spending time with old friends that one has not seen in a while. It is fun, warm, and inviting to listeners of all ages. The only requirement to enjoy this program is a sincere love of OU athletics.

Program Guyz Podcast also offers pop culture commentary. Many episodes will feature a film or television recommendation from one or more of the hosts.

Despite its wide range of interests, this podcast always finds its way back to football. Everything from post-game recaps to transfer portal news is up for discussion here. College football moves fast, so fans might like having the ability to stay informed. However, it does make some notable diversions as well. In February 2024, one of the episodes began with a tribute to Toby Keith, who had passed away from cancer. As a noted Sooner fan, the hosts thought it was important to pay tribute to him.

The Program Guyz Podcast airs new episodes once a week on a rotating schedule.
