In today’s episode, we delve into the heart of what it means to set resolutions and intentions, not just in January, but at any moment that calls for renewal in our lives.I share stories from our now-legendary family and friends camping trip, a tradition that beautifully illustrates how community and connection are woven into the fabric of our lives. These stories are not just about fun and camaraderie; they're reflections on growth, balance, and the continuous journey of self-discovery.We'll explore why sometimes, despite our best intentions, our resolutions don’t make it past the declaration stage. It’s about understanding that every day offers a chance for a fresh start and that finding our footing isn’t just about recognizing where we stand but feeling deeply grounded in who we are.Join me as we contemplate the courage it takes to begin anew, the vulnerability in admitting when things are off-kilter, and the immense power of setting intentions that align with our deepest values. #4 What is happening to me? - Huge change, 'The Split' and Matrescence.
When a woman becomes a mother an absolutely seismic shift happens in her identity.  She changes from her full and complete pre-mother self into her forever-more mother self. This change is described as being so monumental that women experience a complete split in their identity.  We have to work out how to reconcile these two parts to find a new whole identity. This process of woman into mother is called matrescence. This week I talk about:1. What happens a woman becomes a mother.2. The split that happens during this transition from pre-mother to mother.3. Matrescence as the umbrella term for this transformation and how this term allows space for the expectation of change.🍇To talk about with your partner. What are the five questions you can have up your sleeve to ask a new mother? Which questions would been/will be meaningful for you? (try not to ask about the baby in these questions. Those thoughts will roll off the tongue naturally at the time. These questions stay with and about the mother.)What are five questions you can have ready to ask a new father? (Remember: not about the baby.)Extension: The same question but for mothers at 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years into their motherhood. (Stay away from questions that ask for advice. Keep the questions oriented around the personhood of the mother.)Join the conversation on Instagram!
