Badass Basic Bitch

Brianna Dunbar

Brianna was born in New York and raised by a single mom of 5 kids. Through her struggles with self-worth and battling an eating disorder for over a decade, Brianna found herself packing everything in her Honda Civic and moving 3,000 miles to California where she knew no one, to chase an entrepreneur dream. She found her passion, voice, and used her scrappiness and hardships to achieve something no one ever thought she could. Until she found herself in the middle of her own divorce leaving her a single mom of 3. Now, remarried, Brianna lives in Austin with her husband and three children, as she continues to build companies and empower women to see they are enough. What is a Badass Basic Bitch? It all started at an event, in a deep debate when another woman called me a “basic bitch”. Quick off the mark, I replied with, “I’m a badass basic bitch”. We are often quick to judge and quicker to jump to our own conclusions. This woman knew very little about me. She judged me simply on our few interactions with each other. She coined me how she felt I fit into her view. These Baddie Bs are everywhere. They’re our neighbors, women at church, soccer moms, or single women at the bar. These women are all of different religions and races, they are poor and rich, married, divorced or single. But they all have one thing in common; they are ordinary women doing extraordinary things. And now, it’s time their stories are told.

Kat is a Nashville native who loves matcha lattes, laughing loudly, and celebrating the ability to move her body. She was drawn to this work through a personal journey of self-discovery that happened when she stopped trying to find happiness through things that watered down the best parts of who she is.Kat learned that what she needed was a soft place to land- somewhere to show up, be seen, and cared for not despite her imperfections but for them. She has since found that many of us have never had space that felt soft enough for us to be messy, fall down, and not feel too broken to get back up. Well, that is exactly what you will do with her in her office. You’ll open up, get messy, and fall a lot. However, you’ll get back up a lot too. And when you discover the strength you have to stand up the fall stops feeling so important.Kat works from the perspective that connection is the opposite of addiction. And when we realize that humans are a species that THRIVES on connection in order to survive… it makes a lot more sense why we currently are the most addicted cohort of humans that have ever lived. Operating from an attachment focussed trauma lens Kat aims to build secure relationships within the therapy process in order for her clients to create healthy, satisfying, life-giving connections in their own lives.Kat believes that you weren’t made to be perfect- you were made to be you. And she wants to help you find out who that is.Kat’s specialties:Eating disorders, body image, addiction, trauma, life transitions.
