Episode 106 | Soulacybin and Artsy AF Return

We're back, baybeeeee! Artsy AF returns with a low-production behemoth of an episode. (You guys ever heard of an iPhone 7S??) I couldn't think of a better guest than my best friend of 27 years, @soulacybin (John LaBoone) to help kick off version 3.0 with me! It was nice to get a little silly throughout this episode, while touching on some very sincere changes that we've both experienced in the last few years. Mental health, the Barbie movie and of course creativity were just a few of the topics we touch on in this one. John's new single 'Nuh Ready' is out on Spotify, Bandcamp and SoundCloud. Go check it out and catch him at AREA 15 in Las Vegas on September 30th. Thanks to everyone who nudged me back into this venture, it's a service that I'm happy to offer again. Expect about one episode per month to start with, hopefully ramping up as I integrate it back into the flow. Love y'all, enjoy. I've had a weird ride mentally and emotionally since the Marshall fire at the end of 2021 (my house burned down). For whatever reason, (probably cause my house burned down) that event left me with a darker outlook on life for a bit, correlating with me being more closed off, selfish and cynical than ever before. After a while living like that, you realize that it's not helping you or anyone else. So I had to make some big lifestyle changes; cutting out nearly all my vices, exercising, waking up earlier than ever, journaling and loosening the reins from the tyrant in my mind... all these changes took some time, didn't happen linearly and I had many setbacks and false starts. The result, though, is that a small bloom is appearing on the withered vines of Artsy AF. I'm hoping to sustain this into a blossom and eventually into a full blown edible flower for my fellow creators out there to enjoy on a weekly basis again. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/artsyaf/support
Episode 99- Autumn Skye

Episode 99- Autumn Skye
Autumn Skye Morrison (@autumnskyeart) is a painter living in British Columbia Canada. Topics in this episode include Autumn's unique upbringing, why she thinks the trope of the 'starving artist' is false, teaching and being taught by art, how she listens to her paintings and let's her intuition guide her process and many more interesting and inspiring points. I think you'll enjoy this episode, Autumn is a pillar in the visionary/festival art community and she shows her wisdom and experience in this conversation. Her work speaks directly to the heart, with a connection to nature that is undeniable and this really comes through in the way she speaks.  Excited to SHOUTS two new Patreon subscribers this week! Episode 94- Sarah Jane Jamison

Episode 94- Sarah Jane Jamison
My guest this week is Sarah Jane Jamison (@sarahjanejamison), an image maker using traditional media- colored pencil, gouache, ink, marker and paint pens- to create iconic imagery that "mirrors the uncomfortable feeling that she associates with scrolling through an endless feed that portends both limitless potential and impending apocalypse."  In this episode we get in to everything from the administrative work associated with being an artist to internet conspiracy theories, while taking a look at and dissecting the work itself. Sarah also told me about seeing herself as an artist early on in childhood, the ratio of rejection to success and a whole lot more.  Two new patrons to announce this week and Sarah is the first! Thank you so much for the vote of confidence, it just so happens that your subscription falls on the same week as your podcast release date! It always feels so good to have artists who's work I admire donate to the podcast.  The second is another artist, who's episode will drop in two weeks, Michael Camarra! (@mcamarra ) Michael makes amazing work and has been featured in many galleries. He's also a gem of a human being, so go and give him a follow! The Patreon is sitting at about 15% towards my goal of 1k per month. If you want to help support my endeavors, go to https://www.patreon.com/artsyafpodcast and I'll give you a shoutout and you'll get complete videos of every episode we release. All my thanks and love to you for simply listening and sharing is still free;) If you want to go above and beyond, follow and subscribe to ArtsyAF on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube and share with your creative friends and family.  SHOUTS! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/artsyaf/support
