Your Thoughts - Part 1
Welcome to the Way to Go Podcast, where we journey through life's twists and turns with a biblical compass. In this episode, we're diving deep into the realm of thought, exploring the nuances of pride and its manifestations in our lives. Drawing from Isaiah 14:12-14 and Daniel 4:30, we uncover the roots of prideful thoughts, from the belief that we deserve a better spot to doing things solely for our own glory. We contrast the humble act of giving credit with the prideful act of taking it, reflecting on whether we want to be individuals who uplift others or solely seek validation for ourselves. Delving further, we shine a light on the characteristics of narcissism, offering top ways to identify this mindset. From making everything about oneself to dismissing rules and personalizing concerns as criticisms, we dissect the traits that can poison relationships and hinder personal growth. But fear not, for we provide answers rooted in biblical wisdom. By examining passages like Philippians 2:3-4 and Romans 12:3, we're encouraged to turn the mirror inward, taking responsibility for our actions and attitudes. God is Always Consistent
In this enlightening episode of the Way to Go Podcast, we dive deep into the unwavering consistency of God's character. We discuss the myriad of gifts God bestows upon us, from family and health to friendships and the gift of life itself. How are we utilizing these gifts? Are we truly valuing them as they deserve? We also explore the profound symbolism of God as light, referencing Genesis 1:3-4 and 1 John 1:5. Just as God separated light from darkness at the dawn of creation, He continues to be the beacon that drives away darkness from our lives. We delve into the idea that God's character is the epitome of light, devoid of any darkness or evil. Join us as we unpack the significance of Psalm 119:105, emphasizing the transformative power of God's word in illuminating our path and dispelling the darkened thoughts that often cloud our judgment. Furthermore, we tackle the misconception that God's character is inconsistent, drawing parallels to the constancy of natural phenomena like total solar eclipses. Through poignant hymns like "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and scripture verses such as Numbers 23:19 and Psalm 102, we reaffirm the unchanging nature of God's promises and His enduring faithfulness. Barabbas

Barabbas
Join Pastors Bill McMinn and Eric Barfell on the Way to Go Podcast as they delve into the poignant narrative of Barabbas, as depicted in Matthew 27:15-18 and Mark 15:6-13. During the festival, it was customary for the governor to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. Among the prisoners was Jesus Barabbas, a well-known figure. Pilate, aware of the chief priests' ulterior motives, offered to release either Jesus Barabbas or Jesus the Messiah. Despite Pilate's hesitation, the crowd, influenced by the chief priests, demanded the release of Barabbas and the crucifixion of Jesus. Barabbas becomes emblematic of substitutionary salvation, as he is spared from death through Jesus taking his place. However, this reprieve is contingent upon belief, highlighting the importance of faith in salvation. The narrative underscores the human tendency to prefer figures like Barabbas, who cater to our desires, over those like Jesus, who challenge us. It reveals the true motives behind the leaders' actions - jealousy and fear of losing their position. Ultimately, the choice between Jesus and Barabbas reflects a broader spiritual dilemma - whether we align ourselves with truth or with what satisfies our desires. The chant to crucify Jesus echoes through history, serving as a stark reminder of humanity's capacity for brutality and the struggle against sound doctrine. Pilate's reluctance to condemn Jesus highlights the moral complexity of the situation and raises questions about societal culpability in unjust actions. The narrative of Barabbas offers profound insights into themes of substitutionary salvation, human nature, and the choices we make in response to truth. Fasting
Feb 26 2024
Fasting
This week's Way to Go Podcast features Pastor Bill McMinn and Bradly Brobst exploring the profound topic of fasting. Drawing inspiration from biblical examples, the discussion highlights various aspects of fasting: To Show Humility:  Drawing from Psalm 35:13-14, fasting is presented as a demonstration of humility before God. Just as Moses and Christ fasted, it is a posture of prayer and reverence. To Show Repentance:  Ahab, known for his evil deeds, repented through fasting in 1 Kings 21:25-27. Similarly, the Ninevites, including their king, fasted as a sign of repentance in Jonah 3:5-9. Empowers Prayer:  Fasting is shown to enhance the effectiveness of prayer, as seen in Mark 9:28-29 and Ezra 8:21-23. It signifies a humble approach to seek God's guidance and intervention. Part of Revival:  In 1 Samuel 7:6, fasting is depicted as part of the process of revival, where individuals gather, confess their sins, and seek to return to the Lord. The podcast emphasizes that fasting involves deprivation of food, forsaking comforts, and maintaining a private practice, as instructed in Matthew 6:16-18. The ultimate focus is on seeking God's approval rather than showcasing one's fasting to others. Part 1: The Ten Commandments
Feb 15 2024
Part 1: The Ten Commandments
Pastor Bill and Eric discuss the first five of the ten commandments. They read them straight from the Bible and then discuss how they relate to everyday life.    They dig into Exodus 20: 1-12:   And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands[b] of those who love me and keep my commandments. 7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. 12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.   Connect with Eagleville Bible Church: Facebook - www.facebook.com/eaglevillebiblechurch Apple - http://appstore.com/eaglevillebiblech... Maturity
Feb 12 2024
Maturity
Pastor Bill and Eric discuss maturity. It's not about you, but about building others up. Be considerate and serve others.  Philippians 2:3-4 - 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Romans 14:13-17 - Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 4:12-17 - to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Making Transitions
Feb 1 2024
Making Transitions
Pastor Bill McMinn and Brad Brobst talk about making transitions. One of Bill's mantras in life is this – nothing stays the same forever. Things are always changing. Ecclesiastes 3: There is a time for everything,     and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2      a time to be born and a time to die,     a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3      a time to kill and a time to heal,     a time to tear down and a time to build, 4      a time to weep and a time to laugh,     a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5      a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,     a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6      a time to search and a time to give up,     a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7      a time to tear and a time to mend,     a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8      a time to love and a time to hate,     a time for war and a time for peace. 9  What do workers gain from their toil?  10  I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.  11  He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet [a]  no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
