Helen, a young girl from London, has an English mother, an American father, and a Fairy Godmother. One day when her Fairy Godmother Spring comes to visit, she tries to explain why her father Keith isn't around all the time. Keith and the Dragon meet a Sphinx and give her tea. They make their way across the desert, causing the myth of the man and the Dragon to spread. After spending most of a year walking back to England Keith and the Dragon meet a time traveller named Jack. Helen presses Spring for further information on her father. Keith considers entering a tourney in order to win a seat at the round table, an idea he is blatantly ripping off of Jack Cassady.
