Today we are rewatching Stepsister from Planet Weird! It's a Disney Channel Original Movie! Stepsister from Planet Weird is a Disney channel original movie was released on June 17, 2000. If you somehow missed this classic that summer or the hundreds of times it played on the channel in the following years, stepsister from planet weird is about as girl named Megan who discovers her future stepsister is an alien in disguise. Alternatively, this movie is about a girl named Zuweza who is an alien disguised as a blonde girl named Ariel, wishing to return to her true form as a bubble from planet Zircalon. This film is told in alternating rewind fashion. First we experience the world through Megan and then literally rewind time to Ariel’s POV. This happens twice during the film and then as their worlds officially mold together and Ariel’s VoiceOver replaces the rewind effect.You might recognize Courtney Draper, who plays Megan, from The Jersey and the Thirteenth Year. Tamara Hope who played Airel wasn’t in anything else that I have seen. "Heat of the moment! Rise and Shine Sammy!"Welcome to Let’s Rewatch it Again, I’m Jourdan and today we are rewatching Supernatural season 3, episode 11, Mystery Spot. Now, before we press play, y’all need to understand how we got here. Sam and Dean are monster hunters taught by their father. He raised them while searching for the yellow-eyed demon that killed their mother when Sam was a baby. Now, the yellow eyed demon is gone, but Sam still has the powerful visions the demon gifted him with. He also, died because of this demon. Then, Dean sold his soul to a different demon and instead of the usual 10 year contract, he was only given a single year. All of season 3 is the boys trying and failing to save Dean from this time bomb that is his life now. Instead of previously on, Superntraul has a “Then” moment. Today’s recap lets us know again about the one year time line, the fact that Dean doesn’t want to go to hell and become a demon, and we learn how to kill a few different monsters. Most notable is a jin, a trickster, and our common vengeful spirit. Then we are reminded about the Colt, the gun with the ability to kill anything with one shot. A fellow hunter, Bella, stole it from them. We also, are reminded about Ruby, the blonde demon who is kinda, sorta, maybe with the boys? Prince and the Pauper - Walt Disney Short“To govern, you need to say only one of two things: "That's a splendid idea. I'm glad I thought of it," and "Guards, seize him!”Today we are rewatching my favorite Mickey short, The Prince and the Pauper from 1990. This short was released in theaters before Rescuers Down Under, one of my other top favorite Disney films. Hey, don’t judge. It’s part of the renesaince period for Disney, it just opened the same weekend as Home Alone so it was considered a failure. And now, all these films are available to stream in the same place on Disney plus. Wild. The Prince and the Pauper is a classic tale retold with Mickey Mouse playing both parts brilliantly. A poor boy and a prince exchange identifies and lives while the villainous captain of the guard plots to take advantage of the switch. This is the last Disney half hour featurette to made by Walt Disney Animation Studios and to be released in theaters until Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017).Like Mickey's Christmas Carol, this short casts well known characters in new roles. Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pete and Horace Horsecollar and before long, Pluto, have appeared in shorts since the earliest days of Disney animation. “I’m Jourdan and… Number 25 is my best ever, the quintessence of life, I think.”Today we are rewatching The Secret Life of Walter Mitty the 2013 film directed by and starring Ben Stiller. I’m gonna be completely honest, before this movie I couldn’t stand Ben Stiller! While watching this movie I became enchanted by him, in a way that is almost hard to explain. I related to his mundane life immersed in daydreams of adventures he never conceived would be possible. I loved how he hesitated to speak his mind and frequently disappeared into his imagination only to find the moments around him whooshing by. Secret Life of Walter Mitty is based on a short story of the same name by James Thurber. This film is a remake and tells the story of a negative assets manager who decides to travel the world to find the perfect lost picture for the final printing of LIFE magazine. There’s a lot of product placement in this film, along with lost of nostalgia and two handfuls of stars to decorate the cast. Ben Stiller is our Walter Mitty with Kristen Wig playing his coworker and crush. Adam Scott plays his arch nemesis and Sean Penn plays the part of the illustrious photographer who only trusts Walter with his work.Katherine Han and Shirley MacLaine play Walters sister and mother.We also get cameos from Patton Oswald and Conan O’Brian.This film has one of my favorite scores by Theodore Shapiro who also composed The Intern, a movie I already did an entire episode on. This score truly captures your heart and whisks you right along with playful notes and melodic hums by Jose Gonzalez.Space Oddity and the Escape Song both play rolls in this movie that stand out to me. Today we are rewatching Mickey’s Christmas Carol from 1983, the first adaptation Disney produced, the second was the infamous Muppet Christmas Carol, another favorite of mine. This is also the first to features animals as the characters rather than humans. Alan Young voiced Ebenezer Scrooge and continued his role as Scrooge McDuck for the DuckTales.This is the last film where Clarence Nash provides the voice of Donald Duck and the first where Wayne Allwine provides the voice of Mickey Mouse.Hal Smith the voice of Jacob Marley's Ghost (Goofy) and Patricia Parris the voice of IsaBelle (Daisy Duck) would later star in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1988) as the voices of Owl and Kanga respectively.Minnie Mouse plays Mrs. Cratchit, though she doesn't have a single line. Russi Taylor did record dialogue though which never ended up in the finished film.Pluto is the only member of the Disney "Sensational Six" who is not in this film, this is the name give to the collective group of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto.This is also the last film to include long opening credits with only “The End” and no end credits. I remember fast forwarding the opening credits on my VHS as a child. None of the Gilmore Girls are speaking and it’s time for Emily’s annual Christmas party with the infamous apple tarts. Today we are rewatching Parenthood season two episode six, Orange Alert. The Halloween episode! We've got Amelia Earhart, Pocahontas, Evil Knievel, a beauty queen, and a cockroach? Okay. Parenthood aired on NBC as an ensemble TV show about the Bravermans. The Bravermans are a family with four adult children who are navigating life as adults with families of their own while still being incredibly connected to one another.You might recognize Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls! She plays the second born of the Braverman adult children as a single mother with two teenaged kids. If you've never seen Parenthood before don't worry, I do my best to bring you right into the swing of the action. Now, before we continue I want to have a small side note here: in the first season of the show Max is diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, it’s on the spectrum of autism. As of 2022, the term Asperger’s is no longer used as a title of diagnosis to describe high functioning autism. For Max, autism presents for him as difficulties with social norms and behaviors as well as high intelligence and hyper-fixations and receptive behaviors. He has trouble with any type of change in routine, planned activity, and has difficulty understanding social cues and tone in language. One of the great things about Parenthood is this who tackles real life issues and struggles and doesn't shy away from hard conversations.
