DeNovo Enterprises, Sonic Futures

Welcome to Voices of a Killer, the stories from the perspective of a person who has taken the life of another human. Through exclusive interviews with those behind bars, we aim to shed light on the darkest corners of the human psyche. Each episode, we journey deep into the minds of those involved, peeling back the layers of their motives and unraveling the chilling details of their crimes. You will see, although these are people we are programmed to hate, they all have something in common, they are all humans like us, that admit that they made a mistake.

Will you condemn them or will you forgive them?

HE TORTURED HIS BLACKMAILER | Ep 56 | Kristofer Warden Part 1
This week’s guest Kristofer Warden has one of the most traumatic backstories we’ve heard on this podcast so far. And after staying silent for many years, Kristofer is finally opening up on a public forum about the sexual abuse that has crippled his life and ultimately culminated in the 2003 death of a 57-year-old man. We’ll hear about Kristofer’s chaotic childhood and his early exposure to the prison system. At various points in this conversation, Kristofer reveals how several institutions failed him and set him down a criminal path. Why was Kristofer sent away from his family at 10 years old? What led to him consorting with a school principal? And what do the headlines get wrong about his grisly crime? We’ll answer all these questions and more on this episode of Voices of a Killer.More information about this case:News Report after Kristofer was Charged | Principal Tortured, Killed by Visine & Limeaway Injections | Springfield News LeaderOnline Memorial for Gaylen | Dr Gaylen W. DRUG INDUCED KILLING | Ep 55 | Ronald Wright

DRUG INDUCED KILLING | Ep 55 | Ronald Wright
In this episode, we bring you a story of one man’s 10-year struggle with methamphetamine. In 2008, Ronald Wright murdered a 70-year-old war veteran while experiencing the psychotic effects of meth. Although Ronald, now sober, is horrified by his past actions, his defense that he was not in his right state of mind fell on deaf ears. As we’re about to hear, all information about drug-induced psychosis was excluded from Ronald’s trials, and news articles at the time painted him as a vicious monster who deserved to be locked away for a long time. Now, you’re about to hear the full story of Ronald’s crime, a version that the jury members were not allowed to hear in 2008. What was running through Ronald’s mind as he started up his old truck that day? Why did Ronald knock on a stranger’s door in a quiet Missouri suburb? Join us to hear Ronald’s recollections of his life and crime on this week’s episode of Voices of a Killer.More information about this case:Appeal Decision Document | State of Missouri, Respondent, vs. Ronald Wright, Appellant | Justia US Law Article about Ronald’s Sentencing | Judge sentences Wright to life without parole | Daily Journal Access exclusive unseen and unheard material via our Patreon:www.patreon.com/voicesofakillerIf you enjoyed this episode then please either:Follow, rate, and review on Apple PodcastsFollow and rate on SpotifyWatch our videos on the Voices of a Killer YouTube Channel!Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!Listen to more episodes via the Voices of a Killer Website! He Doesn't Remember Killing | Ep 53 | Christopher Sokolic
In this episode, we talk to Christopher Sokolic, the man responsible for a bloody homicide that took place in a parked car in 2020. The crime was violent and the body disfigured, but is Christopher really the cool-headed killer the press made him out to be? In this episode, Christopher shares another side of himself that is absent from news coverage, detailing his 15-year-long battle with addiction that destroyed his life. We’ll hear about Christopher’s first, life-changing experience with meth and the star witness whose testimony was instrumental in Christopher’s guilty conviction. Now in active recovery, Christopher often battles to recall what happened on that drug-hazed May afternoon, but we’ll piece together the story and hear exactly what was going through his mind during a fit of stabbing that cut the life of Zachary Tripp short.More information about this case:Article about Christopher’s Trial | Sokolic convicted of first-degree murder in stabbing death | Leader PublicationsInformation about Christopher’s Appeal | State of Missouri, Respondent, v. They Edited the Evidence | Ep 52 | Kent Taylor
We place our trust in the criminal justice system to carry out the law and bring about justice. But what happens if an agent of the law withholds key evidence and presents edited video footage to the jury to gain a wrongful conviction? Today, we talk to Kent Taylor who makes allegations such as these, claiming that the course of justice was perverted when he was convicted of first-degree murder back in 2011. To this day, Kent has fought to overturn his conviction and fought for his voice to be heard. This episode gives Kent the platform to recount the events of his case and detail his concerns with the trial that convicted him. Just as Kent’s defense team is gearing up for his final appeal, we revisit the evidence that landed him behind bars in the first place. So sit back and listen closely as Kent seeks to right the wrongs of the past on this episode of Voices of a Killer. More information about this case:Court Document about Kent’s Appeal | Taylor v. 14-Year Old Killer | Ep 50 | William Dyer Part 1

14-Year Old Killer | Ep 50 | William Dyer Part 1
One rainy evening in 1977, Camden County police entered a lake cabin in the Ozarks, where they found what can only be described as a blood bath. Four young children lay slaughtered inside their family home, stabbed, shot, and beaten in various ways, and strewn across the house. But while police initially profiled the culprit as a young adult man, little did they know that the real killer, who lived a few doors down, was only a 14-year-old boy. Billy joins us to revisit the crime that rattled a quiet Ozark community and traumatized a young family. This two-part story will be difficult to listen to and even harder to begin to understand. But as we probe this case, we seek the answer to one question that can only be given by Billy Dyer: why did he do it? More information about this case:Newspaper Clipping about William’s Trial | Classmate testifies at Camdenton hearing: 'Couldn't wait to open fire' | The Sedalia DemocratArticle about the Swift Family | Not on her life will this killer go free | Tampa Bay Times Article about the Impact of the Killings on the Swift Family | Faith & Soul: Pastor’s slain grandchildren brought him closer to God | LakeExpo Access exclusive unseen and unheard material via our Patreon:www.patreon.com/voicesofakillerIf you enjoyed this episode then please either:Follow, rate, and review on Apple PodcastsFollow and rate on SpotifyWatch our videos on the Voices of a Killer YouTube Channel!Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!Listen to more episodes via the Voices of a Killer Website! WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME? | Ep 47 | William Reed
On December 6th, 2008, an elderly Springfield man was found dead in the kitchen of his West Chicago Street home. The subsequent investigation identified 6 individuals who had orchestrated a complex murder-for-hire plot. Among them was 25-year-old William Reed. To this day, William has repeatedly maintained his innocence about the crime and claimed that he was unwittingly drawn into a murder scheme he knew nothing about. In this week’s episode, we investigate the facts of William’s case, giving him the platform to set the record straight and tell his unfiltered version of events 16 years later. As we cut through the details of this case, we’ll find that there are only two key people who truly know what happened inside the victim’s house that December evening. BREAKING BAD GONE WRONG | Ep 46 | William Benedict
On today’s episode, we meet William Benedict, a man whose life has been rocked by both meth and mental illness. This episode takes us back to the 2010s, when a thriving meth scene in Missouri was curtailed by the law. Around the same time as this crackdown, William Benedict found himself implicated in an operation that seriously threatened the safety of his family. Today, William walks us through the events that followed that eventually culminated in his incarceration in a Missouri jail. We’ll hear about the lasting impact of intergenerational mental illness and William’s complex dynamic with the victim of this crime, somebody who brought both stability and chaos into his family home. While personal and tragic, this episode also critically examines the flaws in media representation and sketches the landscape of small-scale meth production that still haunts the state of Missouri today.More information about this case:News about William’s Sentencing | Bunker man gets 25 years for shooting man who tried to talk him out of suicide | MissourinetNews about William’s Arrest | Man arrested for murder in Reynolds Co. | KVFS 12Access exclusive unseen and unheard material via our Patreon:www.patreon.com/voicesofakillerIf you enjoyed this episode then please either:Follow, rate, and review on Apple PodcastsFollow and rate on SpotifyWatch our videos on the Voices of a Killer YouTube Channel!Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!Listen to more episodes via the Voices of a Killer Website! Prison Break & Tragedy | Ep 45 | Justin Moyers

Prison Break & Tragedy | Ep 45 | Justin Moyers
In this episode of Voices of a Killer, we’re looking at a prolonged case that unfolded over nearly a decade. We sit down with Justin Moyers to reflect on an incident for which he has spent the past 18 years of his life in prison. Still today, Justin vehemently maintains his innocence and has tried repeatedly to clear his name. He contends that investigators spun a false narrative that wrongly framed him as a killer. This case sheds light on some systemic flaws in the US criminal justice system, such as the bias faced by those who have prior criminal convictions, and the twisting of evidence to suit a story. Although criminal cases involving children elicit strong emotion, we invite you to approach Justin’s story with an open mind and review the facts of the case objectively for yourself. So join us as we unpack the events of the crime, Justin’s path in and out of prison, and the court battle that determined the fate of a young man’s life. More information about this case:News about Appeal | STATE v. A Dangerous Love Triangle? | Ep 43 | Gabriella Shields Part 1
In June 2014, Christopher Younes was murdered in the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri, a crime that implicated Gabriella Shields with two other accomplices, Albert Romero, and Timothy Murray. The trio was charged after investigations revealed their belief that Younes was informing police about their drug activities, leading them to conclude that he had to be "dealt with." The case unfolded with evidence from text messages, surveillance footage, and witness statements, detailing the chilling plot and execution of Younes' murder, highlighting the brutal end to a life entangled in a web of crime and betrayal. However there is a dark cloud over what really happened that day. In this two part episode we will interview Gabby as well as some of the other characters from this story to try and find out who really shot Christopher Younes on that fateful night. We will uncover the complexity of the relationship between these people as well as speak to former law enforcement on the case to uncover the truth on this episode of Voices of a Killer.More information about this case:News about Gabby’s Sentencing | Shields Gets Life Plus 40 Years in Homicide  | Ozark’s FirstNews about Gabby’s Charge | Woman takes plea deal for murder in 2014 in Christian County | KY3.com  Access exclusive unseen and unheard material via our Patreon:www.patreon.com/voicesofakillerIf you enjoyed this episode then please either:Follow, rate, and review on Apple PodcastsFollow and rate on SpotifyWatch our videos on the Voices of a Killer YouTube Channel!Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!Listen to more episodes via the Voices of a Killer Website! A Cold Case Solved? | Ep 42 | James Love Part 2
In today’s episode, we revisit the threads of a story that spans decades, diving deep into a sequel to one of our most compelling and tragic tales - the case of James Love. In Episode 15, we heard from James Love himself, a man convicted of a horrific double murder of 2-year old Jeffery Berger and 14-year-old Sheila Curwright in 1974 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Today, we connect past to present, as new allegations surface and a family seeks long-overdue closure. Our journey begins with Gena Duncan, who believes Love's history of violence extends even further back — to her own grandmother, Lauvina McWilliams. In this episode I speak to Gena to hear her side of why James Love might just be her grandmother’s killer and I follow up with James himself to try and discover the truth behind this tragic story.Voices of a Killer is sponsored by BetterHelp: Visit BetterHelp.com/VOK today to get 10% off your first month 👈More information about this case:News about James’ Parole Hearing | Parole Hearing Nears Again As City Remembers – Lee's Summit Tribune | JournalStarNews about petition to keep James in prison | Lee's Summit mom petitions Missouri's parole board to keep her child's killer in prison | KSHB Access exclusive unseen and unheard material via our Patreon:www.patreon.com/voicesofakillerIf you enjoyed this episode then please either:Follow, rate, and review on Apple PodcastsFollow and rate on SpotifyWatch our videos on the Voices of a Killer YouTube Channel!Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!Listen to more episodes via the Voices of a Killer Website! Craiglist Killer | Ep 41 | Tayelor Fitzpatrick
In this week’s episode of Voices of a Killer, we bring you a story of an ill-fated friendship in the heart of Kansas City. Our interviewee, Tayelor Fitzpatrick found herself unwittingly entangled in a 2017 murder that took place in her home and that began with a click on an advert on Craigslist. In recent years, Craigslist has become a hotspot for a thriving sex industry. It has also – as we’ll hear about today – attracted a host of scammers. The unfortunate victim of this case, Michael Luckey, fell prey to one of these scams that lured him from his Osawatomie home to Kansas City and, tragically, ended the young man’s life. Today, Tayelor gives us her insider’s perspective on this series of events. This is a cautionary tale about the dangers of trusting the wrong people and a look into the moral ambiguity of being a bystander during a violent crime.Voices of a Killer is sponsored by BetterHelp: Visit BetterHelp.com/VOK today to get 10% off your first month 👈More information about this case:News about Tayelor’s Arrest | Suspects arrested on murder charges | Republic OnlineNews About the Discovery of the Body | Death in wooded Kansas City area investigated as homicide  | KSHBAccess exclusive unseen and unheard material via our Patreon:www.patreon.com/voicesofakillerIf you enjoyed this episode then please either:Follow, rate, and review on Apple PodcastsFollow and rate on SpotifyWatch our videos on the Voices of a Killer YouTube Channel!Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!Listen to more episodes via the Voices of a Killer Website! For the past two years, Jerry has maintained his silence about his crime but is now breaking that silence to tell the story in his own words and set the record straight. In our conversation, we’ll trace back Jerry’s long history in and out of the criminal justice system. The course of Jerry’s life has been marred by his run-ins with the police, and the destructive power of meth has catapulted him down a dark path. All this culminated in the crime that Jerry will recount for us today, and for which he is currently serving 30 years in prison. We’ll hear Jerry’s account of one turbulent drug-fueled day in August 2020, the remorse he has for his actions, and his hopes to turn his life around with this second chance he’s been given in jail. More information about this case:News about Jerry’s Sentencing | Monroe City man pleads guilty in 2020 murder case, receives 30-year prison sentence | Muddy River NewsNews about Jerry and Jessica being Charged | Two charged in connection to murder of missing woman, fatally shot in cemetery | KRCGAccess exclusive unseen and unheard material via our Patreon:www.patreon.com/voicesofakillerIf you enjoyed this episode then please either:Follow, rate, and review on Apple PodcastsFollow and rate on SpotifyWatch our videos on the Voices of a Killer YouTube Channel!Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!Listen to more episodes via the Voices of a Killer Website! Ex-Death Row Inmate | Ep 39 | Reginald Clemons
North of St. Louis, Missouri, the Chain of Rocks bridge connects Missouri and Illinois. Although once a bustling interstate route, the bridge was closed and abandoned in 1968. This historic bridge also carries a dark past. In 1991, it was the seat of a crime that shook the city of St. Louis when two women, Julie and Robin Kerry, were murdered. Today we’re talking to one of the four men linked to this crime, Reginald Clemons. After 25 years of denying any involvement in the crime, Reginald is finally ready to come clean about what happened that April night in 1991.
