As a business owner, it can be hard to know which decisions are the right ones and which directions we should follow on our business journeys. There are coaches and consultants out there who can provide advice, but what if you could turn inward and find guidance within yourself with the help of intuitive tools? It’s a much more aligned way to make decisions and determine what ultimately feels right for you.  In this episode of Uncommon Couch, I welcome Josephine Hardman back to the show and we chat about incorporating intuitive tools into your business, how you can learn to trust those tools and their guidance, how your body can serve as a meter for intuitive information, and how to get started with Akashic Record readings. Josephine is a certified intuitive healer, Akashic Records practitioner, and teacher who focuses on helping clients and students awaken the healer within. 143: Challenging Assumptions
What are some assumptions you have about your life and the world around you? Have you ever stopped to think about whether or not those assumptions are true? It could be a personal or a professional belief, but either way, have you taken the time to really examine why you believe it? I’d love to invite you to do so and begin challenging long-held assumptions. In this episode of Uncommon Couch, I’m asking you 5 questions that I want you to ask yourself about the assumptions you hold in your life. Sometimes what we think is true really isn’t true once we stop to investigate it and do our due diligence. I want you to really dig deep and question, among other things, what you believe, why you believe it, and who benefits from you believing it? I really think you’ll be surprised by some of the conclusions you come to. What you’ll find in this episode: [02:29] What did you learn in your professional training that you now know is bullsh*t? [08:02] Who benefits from your assumptions?  [09:58] How did you land on your beliefs and have you done your due diligence?  [13:30] How do you judge truth?  [15:06] Why does it feel dangerous to let go of this assumption?  For full show notes, resources, and link, head to https://www.dralyssaadams.com/uncommon-couch-podcast If you enjoyed this show, make sure to follow the podcast so you’ll never miss an episode. 142: Walking an uncommon career path with psychologist Caryn Seebach [REPLAY]
Going out on your own with a business comes with a lot of trial and error. It can be easy to second guess your decision or know when to even take a leap. And if you don’t have role models to help you see that it’s possible, that makes it all the more difficult. In today’s episode, I’m chatting with Dr. Caryn Seebach, a health psychologist with a specialization in holistic management of chronic disease. She transitioned from working in male-dominated clinics to carving her own path in the online health space. She shares about the burnout that led to creating her own path, why it’s hard to pivot away from a career you’ve invested a lot of time into, and the importance of listening to her gut and opening herself up to a new path. Simply making the decision to make a change can cause a shift. Doors open. The universe responds. There is beauty in finding your own path. You can break the mold of what your career space looks like, little by little. You can become a role model for honoring yourself in your work. What you’ll find in this episode: Caryn’s journey from traditional work to creating her own pathThe burnout that led Caryn to realize it was time for a changeHow Caryn turned her expertise into her own businessWhy it can be hard to take a leap away from a career that isn’t right for youThe ripple effect of doing work that is aligned for youSetting boundaries and thinking outside the box when it comes to finding work you enjoyThe importance of understanding that there isn’t one way to start a new career pathChoosing self-compassion and embracing discomfort throughout the processHow freeing it is to use her expertise in a way that aligns with what she wants out of lifeHow Caryn has been able to find balance and flexibility on her career pathHow your journey does not have to look like those before you For full show notes, resources, and link, head to https://www.dralyssaadams.com/uncommon-couch-podcast If you enjoyed this show, make sure to follow the podcast so you’ll never miss an episode. 139: Three powerful questions to help you overcome self-doubt & imposter syndrome
Imposter syndrome is something that affects all business owners (even me!). It’s so easy to fall into the comparison trap of being “less than” someone else who provides a similar service that you do. But what if we could retrain our brains to recognize what makes us unique and the strengths that we bring to the table?  In this episode of Uncommon Couch, I share a personal experience with imposter syndrome that happened to me recently, why you should pay attention to your automatic thoughts of self-doubt, and the questions you should ask yourself to shift your perspective away from doubt and into celebrating your success (and the success of others). You’re not the only person who offers your service, but you’re the only person who can offer it the exact, special way that you do. Remember that! What you’ll find in this episode: [01:19] My personal experience with imposter syndrome that prompted this episode [03:47] Why noticing your first, automatic thoughts of self-doubt are so powerful, and how those thoughts impact your business [06:20] The next steps to take when trying to overcome imposter syndrome [10:40] Three questions to ask yourself to shift your perspective when doubt creeps in [19:43] How examining the undefined centers in your human design graph can help you to recognize the outside conditioning you’ve taken in from the world For full show notes, resources, and link, head to https://www.dralyssaadams.com/uncommon-couch-podcast If you enjoyed this show, make sure to follow the podcast so you’ll never miss an episode. A business goes through many iterations over the course of its life. As you grow, your business grows. As you change, your business changes.
