1 John 3:4-10 If I do things that I should not and God’s standard of acceptance is His own perfect character, how can I be a Christian?Ideal Christians KNOW their team1) They Who their team is1 John 3:10 2) They Know what their team does:                    a. Team Righteousness1 John 2:291 John  3:31 John  3:7QUESTION: how do you, or I, or anyone who has ever lived “PRACTICED RIGHTEOUSNESS?TEAM RIGHTEOUS are simply people who have placed their trust in Jesus.1 John 3:5Romans 4:1-8)      b. Team SinJohn 3:41 John 3:61 John 3:81 John 3:10.QUESTION: What does it mean by NOT SINNING in these verses?         Option 1: Born again Christians have two natures.1 John 2:1-2,1 John 1:8-10         Option 2: Christians don’t have a lifestyle of sin         Option 3: ‌DOING RIGHTEOUSNESS is about Trusting JESUS.DOING SIN Is NOT NOT TRUSTING JESUS. 1 John 3:4-10 More Literal Translation:4 Everyone who does the sin (rejects the revelation of Jesus as the Christ) also does the lawlessness (breaks the Law of God); and the sin is the lawlessness.5 And you know that He appeared (was revealed) in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or has known Him.7 Little children, let no one deceive you (that is let Satan or any one else who denies Jesus is the Messiah); the one who does the righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;8 the one who does the sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning (The devil sinned by rejecting the revelation of God and led others into it). The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil.‌9 No one who is born of God does sin because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not do righteousness [lit.: (a) righteous act] is not of God,Ideal Christians FOCUS on their UPWARD relationship to affect their OUTWARD relationships.1) Tell yourself the Gospel Daily2) Show the Gospel to one another1 John 4:19 What is the ideal Christian?Ideal Christians KNOW their teamIdeal Christians FOCUS on their UPWARD relationship to affect their OUTWARD relationships.

I. A home of love is a home led by people who have been taken from darkness to light.1 John 2:7-8  1 Thessalonians 4:9 Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. Colossians 1:12-14 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.II. A home of love is characterized by loving like Jesus demonstrates.John 2:8b Which is true in Him” Michael Houdmann from Got questions:  Jesus’ love is “His willingness to act in our best interest in meeting our greatest need, even though it costs him everything and even though we were least worthy. This is the love we see when Jesus was faced with woman caught in adultery, when Jesus cast out demons, when he taught this new way of living in the sermon on the mount, when he reproached the “unrepenting cities” by saying woe to you (Matthew 11), When he speaks to the pharisees of the unpardonable sin of rejection of Jesus (12), when he gently tells Peter to not be afraid when he walks on water, and also when he told the disciples they had little faith.Act in the best interest of others. (not just good, or even better but best)Acts that Meet greatest need first.Act of sacrificeActs that extend to the most unworthy.III. A home of love rejects all forms of hate, active and passive.  1 John 2:9, 11IV, A home of love encourages confidence in Jesus.
