Eve has a great deal of experience writing various forms of romance from sweet and loving to her hot and spicy motorcycle club (MC) books the women talked about in today's episode. Many authors take on pen names for various reasons. Some take on these pseudonyms in an attempt to keep their personal and working lives separate. Others do it to keep an obvious separation in the various genres they write. Whatever the reason, writing under a pen name can provide the writer a freedom that is not always possible otherwise. When Eve Black decided to expand her romance author offerings, a pen name seemed like a good option as she expanded her catalog of work from her sweet, historical romance books and her dark, sexy medieval romances to her hot and spicy MC Club books. As Eve Black, she has been able to bring her readers edgier tales that are filled with characters who revel in their raw sexuality, but still seek out real romantic connections and acceptance in worlds where that is not always easy to find or trust. Eve delivers strong, plus sized heroines who can stand on their own, toe to toe with their male counterparts. These independent female characters have not appealed to all of her readers. A scant few seem to prefer the demure, archetype that is often prevalent in mainstream romance, but Eve does not consider them her target market with this series. If Amazon reviews are any indication, Eve seems to have found her market. With hundreds of glowing reviews on her Savage Raiders MC books, it is obvious that the vast majority of her readers love her characters and are waiting breathlessly for more offerings in this hot and spicy romance series. Hello My Happy People,I had so much fun editing this episode recently. It took me right back to the day we recorded this interview. We had such a fantastic conversation. I have so much admiration for Sonya Moore, author of Some Kind of Magic, A True Story Of Love Life And Wanderlust for everything she has accomplished in her life and career. I personally know how hard it can be to just chuck the life you have always known and just pick up and move to a foreign country where you don't have family, don't know if you will be able to find a job or even just speak the language, or if you will have a hard time making new friends. Sonya didn't let any challenges stand in the way of her getting the life she wanted. Traveling the world had always been something Sonya loved about her job, but she often did not have time to enjoy the local culture and sites. Most often, she was off to her next destination almost as soon as her work was concluded. Sonya was good at her job, but it came with a high level of stress that just didn't balance out with what her heart truly desired. The day finally came when she had enough. In 2017, while sitting at her computer, alone in a hotel room in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sonya reached her limit. She suddenly and without warning, she found herself shouting to universe, "I don't want this anymore!" This epiphany was the beginning of her new life. While it would take a few month to bring her life to a place where she could actually start living the life as she wanted, she wasted no time getting the wheels in motion to take her on her new path of self love, deeper discovery, and travel she was able to thoroughly enjoy. The words are: sui©ide, mu®de® and ki11ing.  When you talk to La Toya Bond, it is difficult to image she has faced heartbreaking loss of a great love in her life. She has a bubbly personality, is easy to laugh, and has dedicated her life to spreading love wherever she can. This mission in her life was born out of great loss. Just four years ago, her family was shocked and devastated to learn her beloved father had died by his own hands after first taking the life of his wife. The couple had only been married nine months.  Herman McKalpain Jr. had, by all accounts, an amazing life. He was one of the first people in his family to go to college. He was considered a very intelligent and talented person with a quick wit who always had a ready joke. According to La Toya, her father had a decorated career as a radio/TV broadcast engineer for thirty years and was a local celebrity. His life seemed blessed, but behind closed doors he suffered with depression and other internal battles that eventually overpowered him. ​Looking back, La Toya questions conversations she and her father had in the final years of his life. In January 2024, Elizabeth released her first book, an anthology, Isn't She Great: Writers on Women-Led Comedies from 9 to 5 to Booksmart . Editing the selection of articles for this book was a project for which she was well prepared. Elizabeth started out her career in comedy. For years she wrote her own sets and performed stand up, honing her comedy chops in front of live audiences. She soon expanded her writing portfolio as she began crafting articles for the punk rock satire site, The Hard Times. She would go on to expand her portfolio, publishing articles for various publications including Bunny Ears,  Repeller, Hobart,  Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times.One of her more popular articles appeared in Catapult, "How to Write About Your Ex". This was not the first time Elizabeth had written about her exes. Before her "ex" articles were published, she had been planning to write a book of essays. Early in the process, she noticed that a bulk of her essays were focusing on past relationships that had gone awry for one reason or another. Reviewing her work she decided to refocus the project and began to edit out many of the ex essays. But as they were already written, she decided to make good use of the work and submitted them for publication with various outlets. Hello Happy People,Today Dianne brings you her chat with Mary Carroll Moore. Mary has always been a creative person but chose to express this side of herself through painting and did not turn to writing until later in life. It wasn't until turning 50 that she decided to returned to college to complete a MFA in Fiction.Mary began writing what she knew, creating characters who were foodies and artists, two things she is personally passionate about. She wrote three novels, including Qualities of Light, a YA queer novel. This title earned her a nomination for PEN/Faulkner and Lambda Literary awards.Since shifting to creative writing, Mary has penned around two hundred articles, essays, and short stories which have been published in literary journals and magazines. She began teaching online writing workshops for the Loft Literary Center, Grub Street, Madeline Island School of the Arts, as well as for other venues. This teaching experience gave birth to her book on the craft of writing, Your Book Starts Here, which earned her the New Hampshire Literary “Reader’s Choice” award in 2011. To further her educational reach, Mary started a weekly newsletter that has brought her followers from around the globe and earned awards for her work. In her newsletter, she shares tips on how to structure a book, writing ideas, and author interviews. She also started a YouTube channel which has earned more than 200,000 views for her video tutorials. When not writing, Mary loves to travel and continues to paint.
