Carol McGruder, AATCLC CoFounder
Carol McGruder is on a mission to SAVE BLACK PEOPLE from the hideous dangers and the devastating harm and health Menthol Cigarettes and flavored vaping causes in the Black Communities The African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council is our country’s leading public health education and advocacy organization taking on Big Tobacco to save Black lives. We have grown our coalition of national and local organizations, traveled across the country to educate communities and build grassroots infrastructure, gotten major pieces of legislation ending the sale of menthol-flavored tobacco products passed in cities, counties, and states across the country, and sued the FDA to act on removing menthol flavored tobacco products from the market nationally.  Formed in 2008, the mission of the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) is to inform and influence the direction of tobacco control as it affects the lives of African American and African Immigrant communities. The AATCLC works at the intersection of social injustice and public health policy. Working with health jurisdictions, elected officials, community-based organizations, tobacco researchers, activists, faith-based communities, and the media, the AATCLC plays a key role in elevating the once obscure issue of regulating the sale of menthol and flavored tobacco products to one of national concern and action. A ban on the manufacturing and distribution of menthol cigarettes by the FDA would begin to address the health inequities caused by the industry’s targeting and the FDA’s failure to add menthol to the list of already-banned flavors in cigarettes. In the meantime, state and local governments have taken action to prohibit the retail sale of flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes.

DETROIT (Reuters) -Elon Musk's abrupt decision to lay off employees who ran Tesla's electric vehicle charging business blindsided automakers gearing up to equip new EVs for customers to use the Tesla Supercharger network, industry officials and analysts said on Tuesday. For now, General Motors, Ford and other automakers which struck deals last year to give customers access to the network said they are not changing their plans. Tesla's decision to open its network to rival EV manufacturers was hailed by U.S. President Joe Biden, and opened the door for Tesla to get federal subsidies to expand the reach of its North American Charging Standard (NACS) system. Even though one in five Americans lives with a mental illness, many feel it is not adequately addressed, with a new survey from West Health and Gallup suggesting that three in four Americans believe mental health conditions are not identified and treated in the same way as physical health conditions. Roughly 60% of Americans give a poor or failing grade to how mental health conditions are treated, according to the survey. “The magnitude [of the problem] really surprised me,” said Tim Lash, President of West Health. He states that the U.S. is not just underperforming -- it is failing on a systemic level and in terms of the number of people with unmet needs. The survey shows the impact of mental health challenges is significant with 51% of people said they experienced depression, anxiety, or another mental health condition in the past year.

College Students protests the war in the Middle East. What about the seniors? Finals coming up, graduations Situationships: What They Are and 5 Signs You’re in One Communication and honesty are key to all relationships, even in ‘gray zone’ situationships“ Situationship” isn’t a word you’ll find in the dictionary, but it’s hard to avoid in popular culture. So, what is it exactly? Friendship. Courtship. Partnership. Kinship. Companionship. The word “relationship” has never really been enough for us, has it? We need a whole fleet of “ships” to understand our associations with other people. Those definitions help us create expectations, construct boundaries and set goals. But sometimes, things just sort of … happen. You become romantically or sexually involved with someone without any labels or formalities. Luckily, there’s a “ship” for that now, too! It’s called a “situationship.” A typo on Cartier's website that incorrectly priced a pair of gold-and-diamond earrings ended up being a costly mistake for the luxury jewelry retailer. A consumer in Mexico said in a post on social media platform X that he was idly browsing Instagram when he came across the shockingly low-priced pair of earrings. Typically 237,000 pesos, or more than $13,000, the jewelry was listed for sale for 237 pesos, or about $13, the New York Times said It appears Cartier omitted three zeros, sheerly by mistake. When Dr. Rogelio Villarreal saw the low price, he broke out in a cold sweat, he said in the post. Upon clicking to purchase the earrings, Dr. Villarreal unwittingly kicked off a monthslong dispute with the luxury retailer that even drew interest from public figures.
