Our Editor's Take

Rock fans should prepare to rock and rail when they listen to Ridiculous Rock Record Reviews. The music podcast offers thorough reviews of albums across different rock subsets. Listeners can expect to hear a range of music styles, from folk rock to heavy metal. Bands scrutinized include Pink Floyd, Kiss, White Noise, and Iron Maiden.

The podcast is part music exploration and part music history. Fans may consider some reviews sacrilegious against their favorite bands or albums, but music is subjective. The host provides a passionate, honest, and enjoyable review of each album.

Aaron Martel knows and loves rock music and is happy to share his knowledge and taste with the world. Aaron is neither a trained musician nor a professional reviewer, but he's got great taste in music. The host "came of age in the 1980s when the hair was big, and glam metal rocked the rock universe." Aaron created and began hosting Ridiculous Rock Record Reviews, aka R4, in August 2017.

Aaron discusses every song on each reviewed album. He starts by giving an overview of the album and the musicians involved in its making. Aaron also shares release dates and other information. He usually discusses how he came across the album, artist, or band. At the end of each podcast episode, he offers a rating for the album.

Some episodes feature fellow podcasters and other music connoisseurs who review alongside Aaron. Steve Wright of Podder Than Hell is an R4 podcast regular. In a thrilling episode, Aaron and Steve review Journey's Escape album. In the installment, Steve shares how he discovered the band. He tells Aaron his pal's sister would play the album as she drove them to and from school. The cohosts reminisce about the album before analyzing it.

Bands like Van Halen, Black Crowes, King Diamond, The Police, and Phish all get reviewed here. Aaron also dissects albums from artists like Bruce Springsteen and Sir Elton John. Ridiculous Rock Record Reviews releases new episodes on Fridays.
