In Northwest Nigeria, being kidnapped is not about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mustapha Shafi’i, a rice and maize farmer in Yarkofoji, Zamfara State, was in his house when terrorists broke down his door, stormed in, and took him away as his wife watched and pleaded. Luckily, he escaped to tell his story.
