Welcome to another episode of the Imagine Podcast - The Most Beautiful Place on Earth. We are joined by a panel of guests who have a tight-knit bond with Virginia Tech. And why this award is important to the Virginia Tech portfolio, the story of how VT had few resources for entrepreneurship, but still managed to pull off an amazing feat like this. The Virginia Tech panel also talks about, how they are building up Virginia Tech Innovation District, which is aimed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, and how this integrates with the local community. Their Living-Learning communities for entrepreneurship, which provides mentorship to students, a place to safely test ideas, and the ability to iterate and improve. As well as how other universities and global institutions can use the VT model for their programs. Other topics include how VT is developing the future leaders for multi-national corporations like Amazon (who recently announced plans to build their 2nd headquarters in Virginia), why investing in entrepreneurship is important, and much more! #3 - Professor David A. Kirby - Harmonious Entrepreneurship Society (HES) & The Triple-Bottom Line
Entrepreneurship can be sorted into various sectors of disciplines, each impacting our lives and the world around us in different ways. Alone, each of these practices possesses the power to make long-term, positive change, both in the corporate world and in our communities. The reason for this lies in leaders valuing profit over people and the planet, which points to the importance of educating entrepreneurs on the triple-bottom line.According to Professor David Kirby, co-founder of the Harmonious Entrepreneurship Society (HES), “We were put on this planet to look after it. Therefore, we must take care of the human environment, as well as the physical environment.” From this standpoint of compassion, an evident means of protecting both people and the planet is converging economic, sustainable, humane, and social entrepreneurship underneath the umbrella of harmonious entrepreneurship, which is based on the understanding of the planet as one extensive system with many interconnected subsystems. Stay tuned to the ICSB Imagine Podcast - The Most Beautiful Place on Earth! Links:Harmonious Entrepreneurship:https://harmonious-entrepreneurship.org/ Where to learn more about ICSB:Join the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) team and special guest speakers from all over the world, to gain new insights and ideas aimed to help and support entrepreneurs, micro-small, and medium sized enterprises. For more ICSB, check out the links below!Email: media@icsb.org Website: https://icsb.org/Twitter: https://twitter.com/icsbFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/icsb.org/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/international-council-for-small-business-icsb-/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvWy8wfz5nMk9a6yr5ZS0hQInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/icsbglobal/
