EP13: What Does a Healthy Church REALLY Look Like? with Matt Curtis
Welcome back to another episode of The Faith Video Podcast with your host, Greg Cross. In today's episode, Greg sits down with Matt Curtis, owner of Lunchtime Heroes. Greg and Matt explore the topic of healthy churches in the digital age. Greg and Matt begin their conversation by discussing how technology can play a vital role in helping churches remain healthy. They deep dive into the ways in which technology enables churches to reach more people and better manage their resources. Greg and Matt also explore the importance of keeping church members engaged and how technology can facilitate this crucial aspect of church life. Furthermore, they highlight the significance of transparency and trust within the church and how technology can foster these values. To set the stage for their discussion, Greg asks Matt what he envisions when he hears the word 'healthy' in the context of the church. Matt's response emphasizes unity and values derived from scripture. He emphasizes that the world will recognize the church by the love and care its members show for one another. The conversation then shifts to the understanding that the definition of health can vary depending on the context. Matt illustrates this with an example from the world of professional sports, where being healthy may refer to reliability and the ability to perform under challenging circumstances. As the discussion progresses, Greg and Matt explore what a healthy church looks like. Matt proposes that a healthy church is known for its radical grace and unity in the pursuit of its mission. He acknowledges that many individuals may respond negatively when asked if their church is healthy, often stemming from a disagreement with the church's direction. Greg adds that such responses can be subjective and lead to a two-edged sword situation. Shifting gears, the conversation moves towards examining how healthy churches should behave. Matt suggests that churches should focus on leveraging technology to fulfill their mission rather than pushing new initiatives for their own sake. He cautions against the viral nature of negativity on social media and emphasizes the importance of avoiding unhealthy trends. Matt suggests that assessing whether a church behaves in a healthy manner can be an indicator of its overall health. Ultimately, he stresses the significance of aligning with scripture to cultivate a healthy church. Tune in to this enlightening episode of The Digital Church Podcast as Greg Cross and Matt Curtis delve into the meaning of church health in the digital era, exploring the role of technology, unity, values, and aligning with scripture to create a thriving and healthy church community.

EP7: How TheChurch.Shop is Changing the Way Churches Buy T-Shirts & More with Micah Thomas
Greg Cross welcomes Micah Thomas to the podcast to discuss how churches can leverage swag merchandise to promote their brand and identity. Micah Thomas, who is the owner of The Church Shop, has been in the church his whole life.   His dad is a pastor. Micah went to seminary with friends who wanted to become professors. After graduating from seminary, Micah started working in church communications, creating video content, graphics, and more.   He then had a friend starting a church, and he decided to take a stab at creating merch for his friend's church. Thus, the Church Shop was born. The conversation began when Micah discussed his experience of going to seminary, but ultimately deciding it wasn't for him. While the training was valuable, the speaker ultimately settled on graphic design as his career path.   He then discussed an experience of starting a church shop to give his church the ability to sell t-shirts and other items without managing the inventory. This idea snowballed from there and the Micah’s goal became to take the stress off of churches when it comes to ordering their church merchandise items in bulk.   Micah is also a self-taught graphic designer. He has been providing services to churches of all sizes to help them create their own brand and mission through apparel.   His company, Church Shop, offers a print-on-demand method and provides human interaction throughout the process. This helps take the stress off of churches, especially those with limited staff and money, as they don't have to worry about taxes and transactions. Micah also emphasizes that they are able to print as little as one shirt if needed.   Micah is married to Maria. Together, they have a passion for providing children with a safe and loving home. This passion has led them to foster six children, one of them leading to the adoption of their five year old son Atlas.

EP4: How Church Anywhere is connecting people to God online with Tyler Sansom
Today’s guest on The Faith Video Podcast is Tyler Sansom. Tyler and Greg discuss how technology is changing the modern church experience. Tyler has been involved in full-time ministry for 10 years, starting as a worship leader and then moving to a megachurch. After being at the megachurch for a year he felt convicted to move away from worship ministry and into people ministry and returned to First Capital Church where he currently works. Tyler talks about his experience with online church and how it has impacted church culture.   Tyler is the lead pastor at First Capital Christian in Corydon, Indiana. He started online ministry in 2015 with a project called Church Anywhere, which is now part of a larger team that ministers to people – anywhere – online. In this episode, he shares how Church Anywhere got started and some of the wins and drawbacks of doing church online.   First Capital Christian Church is located in a small town with a population of only 3,500 people. The church faced a physical challenge: it was landlocked with no space to expand. This forced them to be creative and look for alternative ways to reach people, which eventually lead to their decision to start the online ministry Church Anywhere.   Tyler discussed how their church utilizes digital art forms to reach people for the gospel. He shares about how they use video and blog posts to create resources to support people with various emotional and physical needs like mental health issues. He also shared about how they build relationships online through video conferencing technology like Zoom. For Tyler and his ministry staff, the goal is all about connecting people to God. Whether that is in-person or online.
EP2: Take a mission trip to your workplace with Mike Henry, Sr.

EP2: Take a mission trip to your workplace with Mike Henry, Sr.
Mike Henry, Sr. is a Christian and lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife, two grown children, two children-in-law, and three grandchildren. He became a Christian at the age of 30, having been frustrated with the idea of working for money instead of something bigger. He was trying to work his way into heaven and was aiming to be the third to last person to enter. He had grown increasingly dissatisfied with his work as he made more money, and he was looking for something more. On this episode of The Faith Video Podcast, Mike talks about his journey to find fulfillment and how he eventually found it in his ministry, Follower of One. Through Follower of One, Mike helps others to discover the joy of serving God and making a difference in the world.   Nearing his 30th birthday, Mike was stuck in a job he didn't like and felt like he had two options - remain broke or miserable for the rest of his career. He got involved in a church and attended a workshop that taught him salvation was by grace alone, through faith alone, which left him feeling stuck in his current job. Praying for a way out, he asked God to put him in the ministry and after 30 years of struggling, came to the realization that a community was needed to help people live a life of faith.   Mike, the founder of Follower of One, has been on a mission to help believers integrate their faith into their daily lives for the past five years. He believes that many Christians feel like their job is to simply stay out of trouble until Sunday, instead of taking an active role in their faith every day. Mike is encouraging people to do something with their faith seven days a week, rather than just trading their time for money. He believes that many people don't see their workplace as a place that God has called them to, and that they don't realize the potential they have to reach people for the Gospel by going to work every day. Mike is hoping to create a community of believers who can communicate with one another and help each other integrate their faith into what they do every day.   Follower One is an online community with the goal of helping believers realize that where they are today is part of God's calling for them, and that they can use their everyday lives to glorify God and be ministers to those around them. To help believers do this, Follower of One offers a Marketplace Mission Trip, a two-week exercise that utilizes devotionals and videos to help people go to work every day as if they were on an overseas mission trip. This exercise is meant to provide a practice run for those considering mission trips, and to help believers find ways to serve in their everyday lives.
