There have been many a debate in terms of whether the SEC would be moving toward a nine-game conference schedule in 2024, when Texas and Oklahoma join the conference. The resolution came yesterday, when we found out atleast for 2024, the SEC will be sticking with eight conference games. We know that Texas will be playing Michigan, Colorado State, UTSA and Oklahoma, and we will find out the remainder of their schedule will be on June 14th. The goal is to revisit this conversation in 2025, when Texas and Oklahoma can vote and the hope is to move to a nine conference game schedule in 2025. The Texas Longhorns Football Team will be headed to the Southeastern Conference in 2024, but there is a big topic of discussion that needs to be resolved prior to their arrival: The 8 or 9 game conference schedule. The 8 game conference schedule would likely result in Texas playing Oklahoma every year, and then 7 rotating conference opponents (including A&M) that Texas would play varyingly. The 9 game conference schedule would likely have Texas playing Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Arkansas every year, with 6 rotating conference opponents in the SEC. It seems at the moment that the schools (with a vote) seem to be split in terms of how they want to move forward. There is also the fact that  @espn  is not contractually obligated to offer the SEC more money for an additional conference game, while the SEC doesn't feel there is much incentive to add a game without increased television revenue. The Texas Longhorns Football Team is entering year three of the Steve Sarkisian era, and up until this point, we have not had a signature win at the 40 acres. The Texas Longhorns Football Team, led by Steve Sarkisian are expected to be a dominant offensive product. Based on his track record at Alabama, and the talent on the offensive side of the ball at Texas, it's only a matter of time before we start to expect elite production on a perennial basis. However, 2022 showed us that this Texas defense can be just as impactful on the field as we think the offense should. The Texas Longhorns Football Team has one of the most talented Quarterback rooms in the country, as evidenced by  @On3sports  ranking the Longhorns Quarterback Room third in the country behind USC and LSU. Although most of the talk and hype surrounds Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, Maalik Murphy's coming out party in April has changed the narrative surrounding the Quarterback Room at the University of Texas.  @Horns247  did an excellent job detailing life for Maalik since his spring game performance and how schools from the Pac 12, Big 10 and SEC all reached out to Maalik to encourage him to enter the transfer portal. However as Maalik has done his whole life, he chose competition over the path with the least resistance. Rodney Terry received two wins in the transfer portal yesterday, with the additions of Zerik Onyema and Chendall Weaver from UTEP and UTA respectively. Terry is still in the process of building the roster and awaiting crucial decisions from players like Dillon Mitchell, Tyrese Hunter and Ron Holland. Last year, was a very tumultuous year for the Texas Longhorns Football Team that ended in a 5-7 season and no Texas Football players drafted to the National Football League for the first team in a decade. After a 8-5 season this year in the second season of Steve Sarkisian's tenure at the University of Texas, we saw that trend come to an end quickly. Five Texas players were drafted: Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, Keondre Coburn, Demarvion Overshown and Moro Ojomo, while Tarique Milton, Anthony Cook and D'Shawn Jamison have the ability to compete for a roster spot after going undrafted. Next season, the floor for Texas players being drafted should be five.
