Our Editor's Take

Brooke and Jeffrey: Phone Taps is a show that shares a small piece of a longer radio show. Crank calls are a Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning on-air specialty, and this podcast shares their best.

Hosts Brooke and Jeffrey, plus others on the crew, and the minds behind these wild pranks. A lot of the time, these calls are in response to requests from the victims' friends and family. The people who answer the phone never suspect the deception until the hosts reveal it at the end of the call.

Prank calls are a well-established source of humor. But there's also a lot of genuine discomfort here. Typical setups include dialing up a bride and pretending to crash her wedding. Once, Brooke posed as a cruise line's media officer. She asked an unsuspecting cruise passenger if she could share intimate footage that the cruise line captured in secret. Another time, Brooke and Jeffrey called a homeowner and told him that his renovation plans could not go forward. Why? His home was now a historical landmark because a famous person once used the toilet. (At least, that's what they said).

The pranks are always creative, and the reactions from people on the other end are hard to predict. Some people are angry. Some feel embarrassed. And some don't have any words. No matter the prank or the reaction, the format of the calls is the same. The episodes are short, just three to five minutes long. Audiences can listen in on all the laughs on Brooke and Jeffrey: Phone Taps.
