“And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;” (Genesis 3:17-18)
“For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” (Romans 8:22)
Whenever some guy comes along and says he wants to explain to you why God did something in a certain way, you are right to be suspicious. “God’s ways are not our ways.” But, on this week’s edition of PathLight, Dr. T. D. Worthington walks gingerly walk upon the hallowed ground and explains, at least in part, why God may have acted the way He did; Why God allows good grief.
Why was the ground cursed? Why is the world in such as mess? Why did death enter the world? Why does the lion no longer lay down in peace with the lamb? Why do we have sickness, disease, hurricanes, and storms? Why does the whole creation groan? These is some of the questions we hope to address this week.
