The hosts of the podcast Chasing Excellence have a great passion for fitness. Patrick Cummings got addicted to CrossFit in 2006, long before it evolved into a trend. But he also saw great potential in this growing field and became one of its first content creators. Later, Patrick founded Functional Branding and Passion Gym. Both companies helped gym owners create intentional marketing. He also is the cofounder of Again Faster Equipment.

Cohost Ben Bergeron has been a dedicated personal trainer and coach for over 15 years. He opened his first CrossFit gym in 2007. Since then, he's won competitions and trained elite athletes for the annual CrossFit Games. He also delivers seminars and wrote a book about the topic. The Chasing Excellence book became the podcast of the same name.

Much like Ben's book, the health and fitness podcast is not only about exercising. Instead, it explores the mental resilience needed to succeed within the CrossFit realm. Both hosts share a philosophy that talent is not the true makings of a champion. Instead, it's character and mindset that make people succeed. The same perspective on life that Ben taught his trainees, which won them medals, can help people thrive in any facet of life.

Most of the content on Chasing Excellence focuses on the five factors of health. These are the elements that every person can control in their personal life. If managed well, they can yield long-term mental and physical well-being benefits. Those include the way a person eats, sleeps, trains, thinks, and connects. The show also talks about "Building a Buffer of Mental Fitness." Ben and Patrick discuss their own efforts on the issue, like doing the 30 Days of Kindness Challenge.

The podcast examines anything from decision-making to creating a good morning routine. The hosts give actionable advice on achieving better sleep and what it means to "eat clean." There's also plenty of guidance on the best methods to work out without overexerting. However, listeners should first talk to a physician before starting a fitness journey.
