Anchoring Thoughts in the Sea of Now

Anchoring Thoughts in the Sea of Now
Picture this: you're sipping a perfectly brewed coffee amidst the rolling waves of the Atlantic, the vast ocean whispering tales of the present moment. That's where my good friend Brian Mullen and I found ourselves, ensconced in a floating café, musing over life's simple pleasures and complexities. Today's episode is an intimate foray into the art of staying grounded in the now, a challenge we all face in a world clamoring for our attention. As Brian unfolds his journey through the rigors of college and a future in broadcast journalism, we unpack the essence of mindfulness in the chaos, the sweet victory of recovered belongings, and the lure of personal growth through setting and achieving meaningful goals.Amidst the ebb and flow of conversation, laughter, and the hum of the ship, we explore the quirks of navigating life with ADHD and the strategies that help us anchor our wandering minds. Whether it's the attachment of AirPods to keychains to avoid the pain of loss or the triumph of engrossing oneself in a book that reignites the love for reading, our exchange is a treasure trove of relatable anecdotes and insights. We ponder the 'point of no return' in our pursuits and the importance of carving a path towards success, one focused goal at a time. So, pull up a chair and join us on this voyage where being present isn't just a concept, it's the compass by which we navigate the seas of life and creativity.SUBSCRIBE: The 3'Oclock Coffee Podcast - COFFEE WITH EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE Do you have a story to share with the world that will inspire others? Words from a New York Times bestselling author Michael Levin
Nov 13 2022
Words from a New York Times bestselling author Michael Levin
In this week's episode, we interview Michael Levin, New York Times best-selling author; he shares some inside wisdom to get your confidence to write a book, not any book but a New York Times bestselling book or your best business book that will change the world. Michael tells us to find a job writing and play the game; it's all going to be ok; get sober soon, take care of unfinished business from childhood early, and don't waste your early days in life. Being all In and finding your niche, purpose, and passion, find your true why that will push you forward to write your next bestseller book. Michael always loved writing and tells us when you find something that you're passionate about, it doesn't feel like work. It feels like something you would do even if you weren't paid for it.   I think the biggest thing that helped me was just finding my niche and figuring out what it is that I do best as a writer. Some Snippets From The Show: Scott: That's great advice for our listeners who are interested in writing a book. So many people want to write a book but don't know where to start or what their niche is. Once you figure out what your niche is, then the sky's the limit, right? Michael: Absolutely. And I think it's important to find your niche because there are so many different genres out there and so many different types of books that you could write. But if you can focus in on the type of book that you're passionate about and that you feel like you could really bring something unique to, then I think that's half the battle right there.Scott: That makes sense. So once you found your niche and started writing within that genre or category, did you ever face any confidence issues or imposter syndrome? We've all heard of imposter syndrome before but can you explain what that is for our listeners? Michael: Sure. Imposter syndrome is basically when you doubt your own abilities or when you feel like maybe you're not qualified to do the thing that you're doing even though everything in your career up until that point would indicate otherwise. So for example, with writing, there have been times when I've looked at my past successes and thought "Well, maybe this is just beginner's luck" or "Maybe I just got lucky with this particular project." But I think that it's important not to compare yourself to other people or other writers because everybody has their own process and their own journey. And so as long as you stay focused on your own path and on your own goals, then I think imposter syndrome becomes less of an issue. Scott: That's great advice, Michael! Thank you for sharing that with us today! For our listeners who are interested in hearing more from Michael Levin, his new book ". . ." is scheduled for release later this year." You can find more information about him and his work on his website . . . Thanks again for being here with us today!Michael Levin is an American New York Times best-selling author. On January 20, 2012, Michael appeared as a guest entrepreneur on the ABC Television show Shark Tank. He started and sold the book writing firm BusinessGhost, Inc., and in 2018 started a new book ghostwriting firm, Michael Levin Writing Company. SUBSCRIBE: The 3'Oclock Coffee Podcast - COFFEE WITH EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE Do you have a story to share with the world that will inspire others? How to WIN in a World of Comparison

How to WIN in a World of Comparison
Meet Renee Vidor Author - Measuring Up: How to WIN in a World of ComparisonYou are more than just a parent, a spouse, an entrepreneur, or an employee–you want your life to matter.  You’ve been taught to make money, live with purpose, and make a difference…but it’s easier said than done, isn’t it?I know how you feel. Been there, done that, and have learned so much.Maybe you can relate with looking for your ‘passion’, putting it into a box, and calling it your purpose, your career, or your way to have an impact in the world–but still struggling and feeling like you couldn’t quite measure up.Years ago I was a young wife and mom doing the ‘work from home thing, striving to find meaning. While I was blessed to stay home with our two children, I felt alone and frustrated as I tried to figure out what I should do with my life. That was me. But not anymore! After years of research, coaching, trials, and failures, I finally realized that I was doing it all wrong–I was looking for what I was created to do before knowing who I was created to be.When you learn who you were created to be, you are then empowered to grow into what you are created to do. Life becomes a journey full of adventure and excitement as you discover your way to implement impact, influence, and income.I’m no longer just a wife, mom of two teens, and a business owner; I know who I’m created to be–more than just roles–and I’m doing what I’m created to do, like inviting you into this rewarding process so that you, too, can be who you were created to be and do what you’re created to do!SUBSCRIBE: The 3'Oclock Coffee Podcast - COFFEE WITH EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE Do you have a story to share with the world that will inspire others?
