Ep 5 // Dr. Céline Vetter PhD, Assistant Professor of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado Boulder and Principal Investigator (PI) and founder of the Circadian and Sleep Epidemiology Laboratory (CASEL), and one of my exceptional collaborators, discusses her upbringing in Germany contrasted against her time living in the United States. She details her journey from a career that originally began focused on psychology to finding her passion in the fields of sleep and circadian rhythms research. We discuss our current sleep hygiene practices, how love influenced her chronotype, and yoga to achieve a flow state (a concept in positive psychology) to calm a turbulent mind. We end on people and things missed because of the pandemic as it relates to saudade, a Portuguese word that means an intense deep longing or nostalgia for something or someone that is lost (or perhaps something that has never even existed) – the presence of an absence.
