Of Snakes and Dragons
What happens when we press play, in a week when Cara's house has 6 reptiles moving in. We discuss cultural attitudes towards snakes, what are the stereotypes and where do they come from. We have a look at dragon dreaming, the importance of shedding things that no longer serve us, and of celebrating achievements no matter how small. There is even a story, although we make you wait until the end.  Thursday 23rd (not 24th as I said) of November 2023 we will be telling Wild Winter Tales. We would love if you could join us. Word Magic and the Power of Names
Words, and especially names, have power. In this episode we talk about word magic and Cat shares the story of Ra and Isis. Names give us power, how do we choose to use that? Being able to capture concepts in a few simple words is like casting a spell. We dive into our own names a little and consider how we resonate with them.  We would love you to join us for our Free workshop exploring Thresholds on 2 Nov 2023. 6pm UK time 7pm CET, 1pm EST, please register via this link https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAqdeuvrz4tGtWfpr0Pj2OFxDYmtgZgQgHg We would love you to subscribe to the podcast and please do share it with friends. The Skin we are in - layers of the Lindworm
Jul 17 2023
The Skin we are in - layers of the Lindworm
Our beautiful tender skin protects us and regenerates itself. Just as the skin of the earth protects us all. Todays episode is all about being vulnerable. Catriona and Cara peel back the layers to explore how were guard ourselves, and react to trauma. Content wise we also discuss skin picking and biting (also known as Dermatillomania or Dermatophagia) Cara has begun a writing project on Skin which inspired this episode. Here is a brief extract - Layer after layer peeling away. It hurts and I want to stop but I can’t. There is something so primal in this sensation. Perhaps I am a selkie, or a huldra, or any number of shapeshifting beings that hide who they truly are beneath a secret skin. I want to peel it all away. To slough myself clean and clear. Like the rhinoceros in the just so stories. Perhaps we are all hiding behind our skin? We share the story of the Lindworm Prince which is an emotional rollercoaster through fertility issues, identity, and trauma. Through this we acknowledge that "Good ain't nice!" and neither is nature, but it is real. “Inside all of us there is a man who has shed his skins and become vulnerable and a woman who is brave and courageous and will do anything that she can.” We would love you to subscribe to the podcast and please do share it with friends.
