Dr. Bell explains how the Spirit of God can convict those around a believer. By walking in obedience and standing firm in one’s beliefs, a believer may cause others to feel uncomfortable in their presence. This often leads some individuals to feel targeted by the believer. When the believer walks in a manner set apart from the belief system of the world, those of the world may not feel comfortable around them. Consequently, the believer is often discounted and rejected.
The believer may feel they have to walk on eggshells to coexist with others who view them as a threat to their conscience. Some may distrust the believer simply because they do not respond, react, or operate in the same manner.
On the other hand, conviction can lead someone to Christ if they heed the conviction and make the necessary changes to no longer feel convicted. This is why the believer should rejoice, as it signifies that a change has been made in the life of the convicted.
