Quick Hits from Connexity: ”How Do You Define a Good Death?” with Kathleen Cooney, DVM, MS, CHPV, CCFP

Central Line: The AAHA Podcast

Jan 31 2023 • 25 mins

It takes about 10 seconds of listening to Kathleen Cooney, DVM, MS, CHPV, CCFP, to figure out why she’s so good at what she does. Dr. Cooney, founder and director of education for the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA), made time during a busy workshop schedule at Connexity in fall 2022 to sit down with us and talk about making euthanasia one of the most beautiful parts of a day in vet med.

Dr. Cooney was instrumental in creating AAHA's End-of-Life Care Accreditation and was on the task force that created the 2016 AAHA/IAAHPC End-of-Life Care Guidelines. We’ll be talking more with her later in 2023 – if you have a question about euthanasia or end-of-life care, drop us a line at podcast@aaha.org or ping us on social media.

Mentioned in this episode: Euthabag; April 2022 Trends article on aquamation
