2 Fast 2 Forever: The Fast and Furious Podcast

Joey Lewandowski and Joe Two

One Fast and Furious movie, every two weeks, forever. Joey Lewandowski and Joe Two have nitrous oxide in their blood and gas tanks for brains, so grab any brew you want -- as long as it's a Corona -- and hop in the passenger seat. There's all kinds of family; we chose this one. Love the show? Hate the show? Let us know! Email family@cageclub.me.

F9 (Lap 11)
We're closing out the Fast & Furious portion of Lap 11 with F9, and we're joined by returning guest (and family member) Nate Milton! After Joe introduces a new (real life) game and Joey does a quick movie roundup, we check in on Vanessa Hudgens and get some Lap 12 movie picks from our patrons before heading to the 2 Fast 2 Furious Minute (30:40) to do some more detective work on what Roman's eating. Then, Nate joins us to talk about F9 (39:40), and he's coming in hot! He talks about his key takeaways from his first watch of the film, what the lack of The Rock means to this movie (and John Cena's role as his replacement), and how the franchise's characters and films compare to the world of wrestling (because of course). We talk about the return of Mia, when "peak Roman" was, and whether or not Marlon Wayans would fit in the Fastiverse. Did Roman and Tej kiss in outer space? What's Nate's new moniker for Cipher's F9 haircut? Should we hate Deckard Shaw? We answer all these questions -- and talk about a whole lot more -- in this super-sized episode! The Fate of the Furious (Lap 11)

The Fate of the Furious (Lap 11)
We’ve rounded the episode #250 turn and we’re racing toward the end of the lap, and today we’re talking about The Fate of the Furious with Alyssa Rosenberg of the Washington Post! After Joey shares a big (spoiler: not big) "life" update -- and a dream he had -- we welcome back Bilkins in the 2 Fast 2 Furious Minute (28:30). Then, Alyssa joins us (37:25) to talk about The Fate of the Furious and why more franchises should be like F&F. We talk to her about her role as a columnist, how that overlaps with pop culture, and her piece on the Fast & Furious franchise (which you can read here: Franchises are taking over Hollywood. If only they could all be ‘F9: The Fast Saga.’). We praise Buster Keaton and make our heist team picks (wherein Joe returns to an all-too-familiar well). We then go deep on Cipher to discuss why she (along with many F&F actresses) is unique among female characters in many films, how she contrasts with the family, and how her story could intersect with Eteon. We also talk about the tricky spot the writers have put Mia and how to explore her character in new and interesting ways before Alyssa hits us with the best pitch for the “Letty-led” spinoff yet. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (Lap 11)

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (Lap 11)
We're talking about Tokyo Drift (and just about every other movie and every actor and director) with Alex Jacobs! After a quick reminder to vote on the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall of Fame (cageclub.me/bracket), we open mail that lets us know we get cars wrong a lot before running into a traffic jam on a boat in the 2 Fast 2 Furious Minute (20:55). Then, Alex joins us to talk about Tokyo Drift, his favorite Fast and Furious movie (36:35). He talks about crafting the Drift Date sleepwave for Racer Trash, his main issue with where the franchise has gone (and the way to fix it), and a new plan to spread the Teriyaki Boyz gospel. We also talk about whether or not Fast & Furious is still an "underdog" at the box office, F&F inclusions in Racer Trash films, and an abundance of nail-based metaphors in Tokyo Drift. There's an exciting twist in the character game! List of non-F&F things we talk about (because there are a lot): Justin Lin's Annapolis, JJ Abrams in pitch meetings, Star Trek, the Twilight franchise, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Two-Lane Blacktop, Sunshine, Alex Garland, Jessie Buckley, David Cronenberg and Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, Lightyear (for some reason), Watcher and V/H/S/94 and Chloe Okuno, terrible Blu-ray menus on Universal discs, and 90s point-and-click computer games.
