Our Editor's Take

Few college football programs are as decorated as Ohio State. Bucknuts Morning 5: An Ohio State athletics podcast allows Buckeyes to stay current on the university's athletics news. The podcast offers post-game recaps, player updates, and Ohio State news.

The hosts of the podcast are Dave Biddle and Dan Rubin. Both have been active with Ohio sports for several years. Biddle began his career in media in 1999 as the Sports Editor for the Kettering-Oakwood Times. He has been a staff member at Bucknuts.com since 2004 and serves as a writer, editor, and producer. Rubin is the former VP and publisher of Bucknuts.com. He has been with the company since its founding in the early 2000s. He is now a reporter for 247Sports, which acquired Bucknuts.com.

As one might imagine, the primary focus of this podcast is Buckeyes football. The school boasts one of the most prominent college football programs in the country. Those wanting to know how Marvin Harrison Jr. and Tommy Eichenberg are playing can find out here. There is also reporting on new QB Kyle McCord and how he will shape the team in the years to come.

The podcast shares pre-game reporting for upcoming matches. It also provides post-game analysis. The analysis is insightful without being overly complex. There are also scripted segments. A popular one is the "Agree/Disagree" game, which involves both hosts. One host reads thoughts about the team, and the other explains whether they agree or disagree.

Bucknuts Morning 5: An Ohio State athletics podcast airs new episodes daily between Monday and Saturday.

Meeting Carlos Locklyn | Grab RB from portal? | Sayin hype | Spring game format
It is a big day on the Ohio State football beat as the media will meet with new running backs coach Carlos Locklyn for the first time at noon. Head coach Ryan Day will also field questions from reporters. As for Locklyn, he is inheriting an excellent room that is headlined by TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. However, the Buckeyes did just lose Dallan Hayden to the portal. Does this mean OSU needs to find a running back via the portal, simply for depth purposes? It is one of the many questions we are curious to hear Locklyn and Day answer today. Also, is there fire to go along with all of this Julian Sayin smoke? Sources we trust continue to tell us yes and it will be interesting to see how the true freshman quarterback performs at Saturday's spring game. Speaking of the spring game, there are still some details to be ironed out, but we now know most of the format. Steve Helwagen and Dave Biddle will explain said format on today's show. And we will close with some quick OSU basketball discussion. What players from the portal is Jake Diebler most likely to land and how many players from the portal will the Buckeyes end up signing? All of that and more is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish. How will RB carries be divided for Buckeyes?

How will RB carries be divided for Buckeyes?
Ryan Day allowed Tony Alford to decide how to divide the playing time at running back for Ohio State, so we presume the same will be true with Carlos Locklyn coaching the Buckeyes' RBs. Day has not been shy about calling it "the best running back room in the country" and that begs a question: How will the carries be divided between TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins? Are we expecting something in the 50/50 range presuming they both stay healthy? How much action will Dallan Hayden see this year? What about true freshman James Peoples? Also, the more we hear about Locklyn, the more we are impressed. Does he have one of the most interesting backgrounds of any Ohio State coach in recent memory? We sure think so and we cannot wait to interview him when he arrives in Columbus. We think Day hit another home run here in what has been an incredible offseason for his program. Speaking of interviewing Ohio State coaches and players, here is the list of names that will be available after practice today at 11:15 a.m: Judkins, Hayden, James Laurinaitis, Matt Guerrieri, Caleb Downs, Josh Simmons and Mitchell Melton. It has not taken Laurinaitis long to show his recruiting chops and zero Bucknutters are surprised about that. Matt Baxendell and Dave Biddle discuss all of that on today's show. Also, what is Bax's take on the quarterback situation for the Buckeyes? That is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish.
