Episode Nine of the LOVE JUSTICE podcast | Stories Edition: "Growing Up in the Family Homes" | hosted by Paula Cornell | LoveJustice.NGO
Paula Cornell is from Seattle and joined Love Justice International as a writer in 2021. Prior to joining Love Justice, Paula spent several years volunteering with Youth With A Mission, where she heard and witnessed incredible stories from around the world of healing and redemption in the face of injustice. Seeing how stories like these could inspire hope, bring understanding, and spur people into action, she began to dream of how stories could change the world. This dream eventually led her to return to college to pursue a journalism degree from the University of Washington and delivered her into the hands of Love Justice, where she is happily learning to write (and now podcast) with an awesome team of people for a cause that she cares deeply about. Durga grew up in our family homes after living on the streets for several years as a young child. Now a 24-year-old woman studying social work in college, she shares what it was like to grow up in the homes and how she hopes to make a difference for other street kids in the future. Episode Five of the LOVE JUSTICE podcast: "What Is Transit Monitoring?" Special guests Briony Fickling and Julius-Lutalo Kiyingi. Host Hannah Munn | LoveJustice.NGO
Briony Fickling and Julius-Lutalo Kiyingi joined host Hannah Munn for this insightful conversation about what is, as far as we know, the only tangible, measurable prevention model leveraged to fight human trafficking and intercept individuals BEFORE they experience the trauma of modern slavery. Briony Fickling is the SENIOR DIRECTOR OF ANTI-TRAFFICKING for Love Justice International.  Briony started at Love Justice South Africa in 2019 as the national director for the South African organization, and she took on the role of regional steward for the Southern African countries in 2021. She is often struck by the sheer privilege and absolute joy it is to serve at Love Justice, and while she takes her job extraordinarily seriously, she believes that a good sense of humor and a good dose of fun are essential tools for thriving while on a mission like LJI's. Briony has a background in marketing and entrepreneurship that is complemented by degrees in business and social science as well as a master’s degree in development studies. She is passionate about human security in the true sense of the term, and she is dedicated to doing all she can in this lifetime to radically love and care for vulnerable people. Briony lives in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she thrives in the hustle and bustle of the capital city but delights in getting out of the concrete jungle and into nature. Julius-Lutalo Kiyingi is the REGIONAL STEWARD for EASTERN and WESTERN AFRICA and Police Liason Lead in Kampala, Uganda Julius-Lutalo Kiyingi joined Love Justice International in 2018 as a project manager in Uganda. Julius brought with him extensive experience from working with other NGOs in areas ranging from transitional justice to refugees, with the latter experience being the foundation for his dedicated work to fight human trafficking. He is very passionate about human rights, social justice issues, and giving a voice to the voiceless. He shares, "The reason why I do this work is simple: to put a human face to the indignity of human trafficking. In Uganda, and many countries in the region, so many victims and potential victims are lured, deceived, and trapped in situations they never intended or imagined. Many of these are young children, many of them from poor rural families—the invisible children we as a society have chosen to ignore for too long. My job is to break that cycle and shed light on one of the world’s greatest injustices.”  You can learn more about Love Justice International at https://www.LoveJustice.ngo or @LoveJusticeIntl on social media and YouTube.  Become a part of the LJI community as one of our generous donors by clicking "DONATE HERE" at https://www.LoveJustice.ngo OR donate cryptocurrency through our partnership with Endaoment at
