An arrest, a foot chase, and four flat tires. On September 30th, 2009 Vincent Rowell took a dump truck from the Jefferson County Lot.  Spike strips were deployed and the truck rolled to a stop, after a foot chase Vincent was arrested by Sumiton County Police.  He was eventually transferred to the Walker County Jail and approximately a week later he was found deceased in his cell. A mental health crisis, a death, and a coverup. On January 12th, 2023 Walker County Deputies were called to the home of 33-year-old Anthony “Tony” Mitchell for a welfare check. He was arrested and booked in the county jail. Two weeks later, on January 26th, 2023, he was taken to Baptist Hospital and later pronounced deceased. The doctor who treated him said he died from hypothermia.  Sheriff Nick Smith and Public Information Officer TJ Armstrong claimed Tony was alert and conscious when he left the jail. However leaked video surveillance from inside the jail told a different story.
