She's Australian like that. 11 - Brand New Bag - Beeston Boogaloo (live at Domino) - 01:01:24 - Hair Of The Dog - Brudenell Social Club - Saturday 4th January 2025 - 6PM - £7.50 - the city's funkiest faces. BNB formed in 2023 for an on-going residency at Leeds' hottest late night spot for all things jazz, funk & soul, The Domino Club. Born from a collective of musicians and rappers that coalesced around the Funk'd Up Jazz-Hop live jam sessions that popped up around the city since 2015, BNB bring funky and soulful dancefloor flavours to jazz clubs, warehouse raves & festivals, and parties of all kinds, all pumped with a beating heart of UK Hip-Hop. Melding flavours from jazz-funk, funky & neo soul, disco and all things groove with the attitude of conscious hip-hop, BNB bring the party at any occasion. Already headlining Unity Day 2023 & taking bookings at some of the finest funk events and festivals including Beat-Herder Festival 2024 and regularly taking the roof off The Domino late night shows, BNB have been described as "Fabulously Funky", "The ultimate party dance band" and “funky hip-hop heroes”. A truly professional act, Brand New Bag are equally able to get on the good foot and get those tailfeathers shakin’ in the cool sophistication of the finest jazz clubs, or to bring the party at some of the U.K’s biggest dance music events, festivals, or any other place to party. Brand New Bag are the perfect polished high energy act for any dancefloor. https://brandnewbag.co.uk/ 12 - Hinata - Break - 01:10:21 - Hair Of The Dog - Brudenell Social Club - Saturday 4th January 2025 - 6PM - £7.50 - We're so pleased to have Hinata on the bill for this year’s Hair Of The Dog. Having caught them at 2023's Hyde Park Unity Day, we subsequently booked them as headliners for our open mic at The Pack Horse and then 2024’s Northern Green Gathering. They probably get labelled mostly as dream pop with the obvious comparisons to My Bloody Valentine, Lush and The Cocteau Twins, but this is no ordinary shoegaze band, as they add shades of Siouxie, The Jesus & Mary Chain as well as other goth influences. With creativity at their heart, they’re something pretty unique and need to be seen and heard. An incredibly prolific band, there’s loads of material on their Bandcamp page so give them a listen: https://hinata.bandcamp.com/music 13 - Skiprat - Hey Mr - 01:14:38 - Hair Of The Dog - Brudenell Social Club - Saturday 4th January 2025 - 6PM - £7.50 - Skiprat are a Punk/Reggae/Ska band from the North of England. By mixing a fine blend of Ska, Dub Reggae and old school Punk Skiprat offers a unique blend of original content to satisfy a wide range of audiences. “a punk reggae ska band from Wakefield who played some very danceable music with just the right balance of each of their genres” Louder Than War “The band hails from Wakefield, West Yorkshire and has been a staple on the summer circuit for 15 years or more. Their experience shows as they flow their way through a set that is slick, joyful and over way too soon.” Equinox Festival 2022 https://skiprat.bandcamp.com/ 14 - Drop Leg Steppers - Refugee Of Babylon - 01:23:39 - Hair Of The Dog - Brudenell Social Club - Saturday 4th January 2025 - 6PM - £7.50 - Meet Drop Leg Steppers, your Yorkshire Reggae/Ska/Dub band, blending beats, rhythms, and soul-stirring melodies. Their line up has evolved and grown over their 10 years, and their sound is designed to make you move – hips swaying, feet tapping, and heart pulsing to the rhythm of their performance, bringing joy, energy, and the best of vibes to every soul in the audience. Their musical palette is as diverse as our members, drawing inspiration from a spectrum of genres that span the decades. From the roots of Reggae and Dub, tracing back to the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, to the modern rhythms of today’s Dub Reggae. But their influences don’t stop there, being also deeply inspired by Soul, R&B, Indie Rock, Post-Punk, Dance music, and Hip Hop. Drop Leg Steppers aim to spread positivity, unity, and the irresistible urge to dance which certainly resonates with us at Cloth Cat and they continue to spread their message and music at festivals and venues across the north of England. https://droplegsteppers.co.uk/ 15 - Gertie - Grow Me A Garden - 01:29:43 - Hair Of The Dog - Brudenell Social Club - Saturday 4th January 2025 - 6PM - £7.50 - it's great to have Gertie playing. As an all queer band they'll be playing originals, singing about the issues that come with being a young queer person, along with some classic 00s pop bangers! Gertie will be back playing the headline slot. Backed by a full band, Gertie's music is a combination of art pop and indie pop. https://soundcloud.com/gertiee 16 - A short Dark Stranger - Love's Young Nightmare - 01:36:58 - Hair Of The Dog - Brudenell Social Club - Saturday 4th January 2025 - 6PM - £7.50 - The Fox & Newt - Friday 13th December 2024 - £6 adv / £8 otd - Also: Hard Light: A Not So Silent Night - Featuring: Paul Morricone / St Lucifer / Gnomefoam / A Short Dark Stranger / Doberwoman 17 - Paul Morricone - People In My Way - 01:41:25 - The Fox & Newt - Friday 13th December 2024 - £6 adv / £8 otd - Also: Hard Light: A Not So Silent Night - Featuring: Paul Morricone / St Lucifer / Gnomefoam / A Short Dark Stranger / Doberwoman 18 - St Lucifer - Popbitch - 01:46:56 - The Fox & Newt - Friday 13th December 2024 - £6 adv / £8 otd - Also: Hard Light: A Not So Silent Night - Featuring: Paul Morricone / St Lucifer / Gnomefoam / A Short Dark Stranger / Doberwoman 19 - Gnomefoam - Dismemberment Party - 01:49:34 - The Fox & Newt - Friday 13th December 2024 - £6 adv / £8 otd - Also: Hard Light: A Not So Silent Night - Featuring: Paul Morricone / St Lucifer / Gnomefoam / A Short Dark Stranger / Doberwoman 20 - DOBERWOMAN - Apron Belly - 01:53:49 - The Fox & Newt - Friday 13th December 2024 - £6 adv / £8 otd - Also: Hard Light: A Not So Silent Night - Featuring: Paul Morricone / St Lucifer / Gnomefoam / A Short Dark Stranger / Doberwoman 21 - Suitcase Rags Trio - Last Rose From The Oyster Shell - 01:57:02 - The Grove - Saturday 14th Dec - Free Entry 22 - Boss Caine - Where Good Things Go To Die - 02:02:27 - The Grove - Saturday 21st Dec - 3PM - Free Entry 23 - Rum Doodle - Ballinode - 02:08:04 - The Grove - Saturday 21st Dec - 8PM - Free Entry 24. Featuring: Paul Morricone (headline) Cinematic dark dance from elsewhere. “A dream collaboration between Scott Walker and Massive Attack”. Tom Robinson, BBC6 Music “A mix of intensity and psychedelic easy listening” Electronic Sound “A bit of a legend” Charlie Ashcroft, Amazing Radio Not to be missed! With support from: St Lucifer Manchester based black metal gay disco. "Cheeky with a touch of snark with rebel throughout the rhythm, ['Disgraceland'] is an album you can’t not listen to yet can’t guess how the next song will go. Brilliance in the songwriting with a crafty ‘fuck you’ dabbled in random places place this album at the beginning of our best of list." (Jammerzine) GnomeFoam (Bradford) Ecletic. Electronic. Excess. "The Internet features a lot of artists who offer their music for free, but let’s face it: most of them are not worth your time. Gnomefoam is a laudable exception, and everyone you can imagine to like music that has a lo-fi charm combined with the experimentalism of a Max Tundra, plus a dose of over-caffeinated Why? You must check out Gnomefoam’s latest stroke of genius. There is no way you are going to regret it!" (www.disagreement.net) DOBERWOMAN (Leeds) Electro riot grrl: feminist punk for the digital age. "Sharp and sublime...brilliant songwriting, amazing voice and wonderful stage presence combined with very relevant statements about our time" (Night Shift Goth Events) "Absolutely terrifying, but in a really good way" (Professor Elemental) "This is music that NEEDS to be heard" (Comic Sans Band) And your host (and first performer for the evening's entertainment) A short Dark Stranger (Leeds) Poetic, pumping power pop performed with passion. "The sound of a man trying to start an impromptu party at an open mic with the aid of his keyboard, a belly full of wine and a sheet of incisive lyrics. It’s the kind of joyous, opinion splitting madness that could only have come from the ever-fertile music scene in LS6." (Andy Brown, Louder Than War magazine) "A short Dark Stranger - if you went to Butlins in Twin Peaks..." (Still Forever) Ticket link to follow. £6 advance, £8 OTD. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contrail Single Release + Special Guests Monday 16 December 2024 7:30pm 11:00pm Hyde Park Book Club 27-29 Headingley LaneLeeds, LS6 1BLUnited Kingdom (map) Google Calendar ICS contrail: Leeds-based contrail are your dad’s new favorite band—delivering a dynamic mix of melancholic introspection and chaotic energy.
