Redistricting Looms
  • For the first time in over 50 years, Texas will not be under additional federal scrutiny called “preclearance.”
  • On Saturday, the Texas Senate made public the proposed Senate District Map for the next 10 years.
    • Notable proposed district changes:
      • Senate District 10 addition of Parker and Johnson counties
      • Senate District 24 losing counties to both Senate District 25 and Senate District 22
  • The Texas House has not yet made their proposed map changes public.
  • Also included on the agenda:
    • Appropriation of federal COVID-19 relief funds passed by U.S. Congress
      • The State of Texas now owes millions of dollars more on debt because they chose not to address the debt with these funds in the previous special legislative session.
    • Youth Sports
    • Vaccine Mandates
    • Dog Restraints
