For the first time in over 50 years, Texas will not be under additional federal scrutiny called “preclearance.”
On Saturday, the Texas Senate made public the proposed Senate District Map for the next 10 years.
Notable proposed district changes:
Senate District 10 addition of Parker and Johnson counties
Senate District 24 losing counties to both Senate District 25 and Senate District 22
The Texas House has not yet made their proposed map changes public.

Appropriation of federal COVID-19 relief funds passed by U.S. Congress
The State of Texas now owes millions of dollars more on debt because they chose not to address the debt with these funds in the previous special legislative session.
