How To Keep Your Day Job, With The Morning Star Consultants

MORNING STAR CONSULTANTS

If you are here, you have found our podcast, How to Keep Your Day Job! After 25 years each building better agencies, repairing organizations at many levels, helping individuals, teams and leaders reach their goals, Lisa Goss our Chief Executive Officer, and founder & Staci Bailey Morning Stars Lead Consultant, decided to bring their skills and experience online. Lisa began as a clinician with a focus to help the person that was directly in front of her. Then she began to teach because she felt this would serve more people. You know that old saying give a man a fish and he feeds his family for a day, teach him to fish and he can feed his family for a lifetime? From there Lisa moved into leadership because, in a nutshell, she loves to solve problems, create highly functioning teams, mentor, coach and exceed expectations! So, it made sense for Lisa to take this online because she is passionate about helping others and community development. Lisa is all about efficiency. Staci brings balance to the team, often the voice of reason, the list maker, a rural girl who is not afraid to roll up her sleeves. Staci is the quiet brilliance behind Morning Star, the finesse and compass. Staci is the one pushing us in front of the mic, possibly the camera & into the online arena. So, if you are leading an agency and struggling or if you overwhelmed and need help. If you have an interest in moving up in your agency or developing your career. Opened your own business and need some help. If you are interested in getting that dream position or if you are just interested in being entertained, you are in the right spot. Because we can help you keep your day job…

How To Keep Your Day Job Podcast Show Notes – S1 E6 In this episode of the How To Keep Your Day Job podcast Lisa interviews Catherine, a Canadian Certified Physician Assistant. She grew up in a small city in Ontario and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at Trent University. Upon completion, she was looking to pursue a career that would allow her more autonomy. That is when Catherine discovered the role of a Physician Assistant. At that time, the role of a Physician Assistant was new in Canada and the University of Manitoba Master of Physician Assistant Program was in its youth. Catherine was drawn to the profession as she enjoyed working as part of a team and wanted to explore learning via the medical model. The role of the Physician assistant allowed her to switch between medical specialties. Upon graduation, Catherine worked as part of a urology team before moving into primary care. She has been a PA for 10 years and is passionate about her role. She is an advocate for her patients, and as a PA she is able to improve access to quality care. For more information on the University of Manitoba’s Physician Assistant Studies Program check out the links below:https://umanitoba.ca/faculties/graduate_studies/admissions/programs/paep.htmlhttps://umanitoba.ca/faculties/health_sciences/medicine/education/paep/faq.htmDo you like what you hear and want to learn more about our programs and services? Episode #5 TIME
This month’s podcast is not focusing on a career or how someone manages their day job. It focuses on time. There is never enough time. Don’t you agree? No matter what you celebrate, December is a month to slow down. Staci speaks about slowing down and for her this is a time to reflect on wellness. When you do not find that balance or time to slow down, it can affect your mental health and coping.Lisa speaks about time in the aspect of leadership. There is never enough time to accomplish what you need to in not-for-profit organizations. Lack of time can leave you feeling overwhelmed, and you can “hit your wall”. When we are overwhelmed, it highlights feeling unappreciated and then the time we give to our chosen field feels wasted without acknowledgment. If you are overwhelmed in the service of others there are places that you can call: Crisis Line                                                                     204-786-8686/Toll Free 1-888-322-3019Manitoba Suicide Line                                               1-877-435-7170If you are a not-for-profit leader in Canada and are interested in our leader’s collaborative, go to www.morningstarconsultant.com and click on our service page and our leaders lab. There is a quote I really like, "Individually we are a drop, but together we are an ocean", Ryunosuke Satoro. Episode #3 - The First 90 Days
How To Keep Your Day Job Podcast #3 – Show NotesIn this episode of the How to Keep Your Day Job podcast I interview Lisa about her experiences as a leader in the not-for-profit world.  We talk about what leadership looks like in the first 90 days of a new role, how to build a five-year plan and the biggest challenge of managing people. Lisa shares some of the tips and tools she uses to meet expectations and what makes her “geek out”. At one point, Lisa talked about her experiences of living with ADHD. October is ADHD Awareness Month. ADHD & the term ‘deficit disorder’ puts ADHD in the realm of pathology, or disease. Individuals with ADHD do not have a disease, nor do they have a deficit; to be honest most have a ton of attention. The challenge is learning how to control it & that is why Lisa talks about how she organizes her tasks and projects. If you found the information in this episode helpful and want more, find us on our website or check us out on social media. On our website you can find out more about our career coaching and courses such as Executive Director Onboarding, New Manager Boot Camp, Professional Boundaries and more. As we move from bricks and mortar to more of an online, virtual presence we will be adding to our programs and supports so keep checking back. We are always offering free consults and like Lisa said, you won't hear a sales pitch during our consults. Find Morning Star Consultants @:Email: info@morningstarconsultant.comBusiness and Management Consultant - Winnipeg, Manitoba (morningstarconsultant.com)Home / TwitterLisa Goss (@morningstarconsulting_) • Instagram photos and videosMorning Star Consulting: Company Page Admin | LinkedIn(6) Morning Star Consultive Services | FacebookLearn more about ADHD or catch a podcast @:https://open.spotify.com/show/6t1VWB5kU1QgCPCLypBuMt?si=PmIBS95TQayToufBaj-KHghttps://www.adhddd.com/?fbclid=IwAR2GlsROpYtiO-kVoJzwM3puRTxNbPU8aUls-KzT0jqr5rN31Yu3ZUtQ6vg
