Gene started in the corporate space then decided he wanted to move into feature production so he directed two short films to get his connections with cast and crew then set to work on his debut feature 'The Blade Cuts Deeper'. Inspired by Italian Giallo horror movies, it was shot for 14 thousand pounds over 14 days.  I talked to Gene about how he financed the film and the challenges of shooting over such a short period. Josh started his career making music videos, he went on to direct a horror film called 'Contracted - Phase 2' and then directed a film for Shudder starring Alex Winters called 'Destroy all Neighbours'. After making a bunch of short films Joshua went onto make his debut micro budget feature 'Layover'. It won a bunch of awards and launched his directing career. Joshua's directed television and feature films including 'Infamous' and  'Mending the Line' for Netflix starring Brian Cox. Joshua also runs the '6k Filmmaker Micro Budget Course', one of the students of which was James Chick, who I have previously interviewed on the podcast about his micro feature 'Feet of Death'. I talked to Joshua about his career, how he started out, how he got that first feature film put together. He also told me why he thinks it's much better to make a feature film than lots of short films and the reasons why. Chris started the Independent Horror Society in London as a way for horror lovers to get together and watch Horror movies. It quickly transformed and became more of a hub for filmmakers and people who love horror to connect with the horror creators.Chris is also a producer having worked on a bunch of short films and having recently released 'Walking Against the Rain' . I talked to Chris about the Independent Horror Society, we chatted about his feature film, it was funded through the SEIS scheme in the UK so it was good to quiz him about that and find out the pitfalls and his tips for those of you thinking of doing that yourself. Darren and his brother Jeff (also known as the Geare Brothers) wrote their first screenplay that went onto the Black List, ended up on the top list and got optioned into a feature film called The Retaliators.The brothers worked on the film, helped it through the pandemic and its release. It then went onto a very successful festival run.
