How to Market Your Business On Social Media | Omnipresence Strategy
The marketing process can be really tricky if you're not sure what to do. But you know that posting videos on all your social media accounts will work, right? To increase your business's visibility, you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on Google ads in order to create this content.  In today's podcast, I'm going to explain how to begin this task if you are not sure where to begin. These tricks took me a lot of time and money to learn, and now I'm passing them on to you. Since I've mastered all of this. Here's your chance to do the same.  Let me give you the basics right now.  However, if you want to learn the best strategies, you can enroll in the Social Media Explosion Course, which comes bundled with the Entrepreneur Bundle for a very low price.  Give it some thought and let me know. Feel free to send me a message if you are interested. I hope you enjoy today's show.   "Omnipresence is where you can be everywhere at once"  - Keith Kalfas. Today’s topic:  1:55 “I've learned out of pulling my hair out and trying to do it all myself how you can actually build a small team of virtual assistants around you for an incredibly low cost.”  The idea of hiring one person to do everything for you will not work. Because he or she might be good at one thing but not at everything. Therefore, it is better to have a specialist handle each task in order to avoid messes.   3:18 - “There's fiverr.com. I know you've heard of that. But you ain't heard of it like this. There's upwork.com. There are all these different freelance websites.” You can hire a virtual assistant from these freelancing platforms. There are people who can do these tasks at very low costs. Find a specialist who is an expert in each area. 4:47 - “You create one great piece of content per month.” Creating the monthly content that you need to upload does not require much effort. The only thing you need to do is create one great piece of content per month. The goal is not just about creating content, so listen to Keith for some additional advice. There should also be a bit of work on this.   9:10 -  “Send it to an article writer. The article writer writes the article on your website, like the blog plugin or something, and you get the blog. And then, when the blog is done, you send it to another virtual assistant, a va, whose job is to repurpose content.” Getting noticed can be achieved through a blog. As a bonus, you'll be more visible when you repurpose it.   12:09 - “I want you to book 24 or 48 hours with the studio person or somebody who's got a dope camera and maybe some lighting and good audio. And then I want you to script and write out and plan.” In the absence of a recording space. Booking a studio or room where you can record this stuff would be a good idea. For a small amount, you can buy a green screen and have the video editor edit it for you. This will ensure your content looks professional, regardless of whether you are on a job site or not. 15:02 - “When a customer goes to your website, and they see professional videos, and then they go bounce around on Facebook, and maybe they check to see because you have an Instagram link and everything is cohesive and looks well, it looks professional” The advantage of creating your own content is that you can control the quality. This proves that you are the best candidate for the job. It is the best marketing strategy you could use for your business.   Key Takeaways:  "Omnipresent means you're on all social media platforms all the time. But you're not doing you have a virtual assistant posting it all for you."  "You tell a story about the job site, a case study testimonial video, for instance." "If you could take that one video and get a hit, maybe only one out of eight of those videos would become a hit. You can put that thing on the front of your website, and it'll sit there for two-three years and will sell your work."   Connect with Keith    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/   Resources/People Mentioned: My Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/ Email: kalfasmedia@gmail.com Entrepreneur Bundle: https://www.keithkalfas.com/store/RUGXugU8 Jobber: www.getjobber.com/keith Ballard Products: www.ballard-inc.com/ Jill’s Office: www.jillsoffice.com/

I'm doing it, but there's no way in the world I'm going to just compete as a general like athletic shoe or general hiking shoe going against like Nike We had no chance but the only chance we have surviving and actually making something here is to have a very specific niche, do it really, really well and just focus on it and just in just try to be the best in that very specific niche." - Shawn Langton Topics Covered:  The process of starting the Kujo YardCreating a shoe for lawn mowingThe importance of treating your customers like goldHow to balance different roles in the businessStrategy and relationship buildingHaving a clear vision is powerfulThe importance of having a clear visionOne of the smartest things in marketing is to create a niche Key Takeaways "Like you said ideas are not that it's easy. I mean a good ideas is worth a million dollars but ideas are the easy part everybody you know, there's a lot of people that have a lot better ideas than me about things but it's like you said it's the work it's the execution it's the investment it's figuring out how to create a great product bringing it to market and then just busting your butt in the sales and marketing to really you know get people to try it and then once people to try it once people try it that's even the harder part now you have to have outstanding customer service and fortunately that's something I thought of right from the beginning like customers are gold." - Shawn   "I used to make these these crazy videos. And I still do have like me trimming trees and cussing and yelling and talking about being in the trenches and business and like, I still make some of those videos. But as I've grown a bit, I'm more becoming interested in the deep entrepreneurial conversations that caused the highs are the eureka moments where make you reframe something in your brain that makes you oh my god, that's the answer. And these answers move the needle forward. That helped you realize something in your life and business that make you make an extra 50 or 100 grand this year, that make you you know, be able to upgrade your lifestyle and provide for your family better to watch some of your own dreams come true instead of just getting excited of entertaining information." - Keith  Connect with Shawn Website: https://www.kujo.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kujoyardwear Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@KujoYardwearLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/kujo-yardwear/  Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resources and Websites:  🙋♂️Get My Free Landscaping Business Startup Video Series Here👇  Here https://www.keithkalfas.com/Landscaping-Series Landscaping Course https://keith-kalfas.mykajabi.com/store/8bFERMcs LANDSCAPING BUSINESS  How to Guide: https://www.keithkalfas.com/16 Get Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs Get Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/

Digital Marketing Secrets for Contractors with Matt Thibeau
How do we attract more clients and stand out against competitors’ businesses through effective marketing strategies and systems?   As today’s guest says, attracting qualified leads is hard, and landing bigger jobs can be tough. With all the advancement going on, there’s a lot more competition and challenges on the sides. But that’s exactly why he’s here today – to share golden nuggets you can easily implement. Join us as we learn from Matt Thibeau today.   Matt Thibeau is the Owner and Founder of Savant Marketing Agency, helping contractors systemize their marketing and sales process. He is one of the top digital marketing experts in the home improvement industry, an Author of Dude 2.0, and a Client Acquisition Expert for top construction companies across North America.   Through Matt and Savant Marketing Agency, you can get new ideas, new concepts, and new strategies, giving you results that make your phone ring, projects that make you more profit, and systems that save you time. So what are you waiting for? Have your note-taking tools ready, for we are about to drop mind-bombs on today’s episode of Untrapped!     “In the beginning, the best things that you can be doing are gathering what I call proof assets, and that would be pictures; just snapping quick pictures of your work and really showing before and after pictures of the best thing you can show so someone actually has a level of comparison. Because when you just show an after picture, then people have nothing to compare it to. So, it is important to be able to show, like, ‘Hey, here’s what it looked like before—crappy, ugly lawn or backyard—and then here’s what it looks like now.”   – Matt Thibeau     Topics Covered   00:00 – “In the beginning, the best things that you can be doing are gathering what I call proof assets, and that would be pictures.”   Welcoming today’s awesome guest, Matt Thibeau   03:51 – “I’ve always been interested in marketing, but I kind of just fell into the contracting niche. And so, I just kind of ran with it from there.”   Who is Matt Thibeau? Why is he doing the work that he does? How is he able to understand all the subtle nuances of what contractors actually go through?   06:37 – “If you’re going to be out and doing jobs, you might as well start building a portfolio. Start capturing those jobs that you’re actually doing. Just take a moment, snap before and after pictures, because what I call that is building out what’s called proof assets.”   Why is a portfolio a must-have when you’re aiming to get a lot more leads and position yourself as a credible business that stands out against the competition? How do you create before and after pictures for that?   10:04 – “What I like to tell our clients is get into the habit of some kind of system or protocol and how you go about doing a job or onboarding a client, so then you literally can have a checklist and be like, cool.”   Matt shares tips on the importance of getting into the habit of having a system or protocol that’s built right into every job. He also talks about getting into the habit of getting reviews and using that to attract more clients, highlighting why you should only ask for a testimonial when your clients are happy and excited.   16:19 – “A golden nugget that you can start implementing that I guarantee you not a lot of landscapers are doing is you can start looking for ways to get people’s attention by adding value into your service with something free that you throw in instead of discounting something.”   On giving out freebies, discounts, and warranties: Which is more effective if you want to get people’s attention and stand out against competitors?   18:46 – Want a FREE copy of Matt’s book, “Digital Marketing Secrets for Contractors”? Find out how and where to get yours now!   20:24 – “Google ads are going to be more expensive and more competitive. Just because it’s been around longer, there’s a lot more competition on there. But the thing is that Google ads is going to be a more qualified lead that you get from there.”   What is the best route to get into advertising? Comparing Google ads to Facebooks ads for beginners and close clients   26:35 – “What I see a lot of is people going way too wide with their services way too soon. If you’re a newer landscaping business, then stick to one or two things that you can really rock, and you’re the go-to guy for that.”   “Niche down, a scale that, become the go-to guy, and then start going wider”: The importance of niching down and focusing on one niche before going wide on your services   29:59 – Connect with Matt Thibeau     Key Takeaways   “If you’re going to be out and doing jobs, you might as well start building a portfolio. Start capturing those jobs that you’re actually doing. Just take a moment, snap before and after pictures, because what I call that is building out what’s called proof assets.”   “If you wait like a week later, and then you say, ‘Hey, can you give us a review?’ then you’re risking that maybe he got in a fight with his wife when you send that email, or maybe something happened in his family that’s just bad, or maybe he got fired from his job or whatever. Obviously, now, your review isn’t going to be the top priority, or maybe you’re risking that his emotional state isn’t going to be in the right state to catch him. So when he’s in that moment or she, and they’re saying like, ‘Wow, you’re so amazing,’ you want to catch it right there. You want to catch them in that peak state of excitement because that’s a window of time that’s limited.”   “A golden nugget that you can start implementing that I guarantee you not a lot of landscapers are doing is you can start looking for ways to get people’s attention by adding value into your service with something free that you throw in instead of discounting something.”   “In your first couple of years, Google ads might be something that might be a little bit further down the line for you. So then that means that Facebook ads would be a really good option to start with. Definitely, you’re going to have to have fewer quality leads that come through that, but you’re going to be able to get into the advertising game less expensively and be able to start generating your own leads and not just rely on referrals.”   “Niche down, and then really, really scale that and become the go-to guy for that, and then start going wider.”     Connect with Matt Thibeau   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/matt.thibeau/ Facebook Group: Renovation Contractor Success YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@mattthibeau   Website: https://savantmarketingagency.com/   Connect with Keith    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/     Resources/People Mentioned:   My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas Matt’s book: Digital Marketing Secrets for Contractors FREE mp3 download of Matt’s book: https://contractormarketingbook.com/ Savant Marketing Agency: https://savantmarketingagency.com/   Jobber: www.getjobber.com/keith Ballard Products: www.ballard-inc.com/ Jill’s Office: www.jillsoffice.com/

In today's discussion, our guest Allyn Hane, a seasoned lawn professional, shares valuable insights on the benefits of adding spray services to your lawn business. Allyn emphasizes that incorporating spray services not only allows you to generate excellent profits but also offers a unique value proposition to customers by tapping into a market with less competition and saturation. Throughout the episode, we delve into a range of topics, including the importance of learning your land as a new homeowner, finding joy in mowing, implementing integrated pest management strategies, debunking fears around fertilizer usage, identifying different types of pests, and maximizing earnings through pesticide spraying. Additionally, we explore the experience of working for a lawn care company, the two enemies of a thriving lawn, and when it might be time to hire a receptionist to maintain a positive customer experience. Prepare to gain valuable insights and key takeaways from this enlightening conversation! Key takeaways from this episode include Allyn's clarification that fertilizers do not cause lawn burns and the importance of proper calibration and adherence to label instructions. As a lawn professional, it's crucial to overcome any fears surrounding fertilizer usage and understand that it contributes to the overall health and beauty of the lawn. Keith also shares a helpful tip for dealing with burnout in your business by hiring a receptionist to ensure a positive front-facing voice while you focus on other essential aspects.   "I was talking to them talking to lawn professionals, a lot of y'all you want to add spray service. And I think you should- I think it's excellent way to make good profit and offer something to customers that has a little less competition and a little less saturation. " - Allyn Hane Topics Covered:  Learning your land as new homeownerHaving fun mowingIntegrated pest managementShould you be afraid of fertilizer?Different types of pestEarning by spraying pesticides Working for a lawn care companyTwo enemies of lawnWhen to hire a receptionistSacred trust with nature and earth Key Takeaways "The thing about fertilizing is people have a fear of it. Even lawn professionals that are like lawn companies I talk to a lot of guys like that they have a fear of fertilizer, their fear given a burn something. So fertilizer doesn't burn the lawn. And they're just going to tell you that right now, even if you put down a Triple Thick application for some reason, because you didn't read the label, because you didn't calibrate your spreader, whatever you're not going to bring along." - Allyn   "if you ever get into a place in your business where you are just burned out and you're sick of talking to customers, and you cannot muster up the energy to be super nice and polite and happy and helpful just because it happens. Hire a receptionist who will be the good front facing voice for your business. And then you could just leave the field and muscle through it." - Keith  Connect with Allyn  Website: https://thelawncarenut.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/allynhane/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@ThelawncarenutTwitter: https://twitter.com/AllynPaul   Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resources and Websites:  🙋♂️Get My Free Landscaping Business Startup Video Series Here👇  Here https://www.keithkalfas.com/Landscaping-Series Landscaping Course https://keith-kalfas.mykajabi.com/store/8bFERMcs LANDSCAPING BUSINESS  How to Guide: https://www.keithkalfas.com/16 Get Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs Get Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/

The Highest Profit Landscaping: Ponds & Water Features with Jeff Michaels
Do you want to start a business in the aquascape industry, doing ponds and water features, Or maybe add this to your existing services, but you don’t know how to? Today’s guest was once just like you—a typical guy that got into the business without actually knowing the business. He was a machine builder 25 years ago and just happened to get into aquascape through a spark of interest he felt upon having his pond in his backyard. But through his passion, he was able to be in the industry of the highest profit in the landscaping business.  Join us as we discuss how he was able to take a step into this industry and learn how you can make high profits with ponds and water features! Jeff Michaels owns Pondering Waters, an indoor and outdoor design, installation, and maintenance company that has been installing for 25 years with a unique understanding of the wants and needs of both residential and commercial customers. More than just your typical pond company, they are extremely passionate and have unique ideas for water feature designs. Pondering Waters maintains the delicate ecosystems that make up a biological environment while ensuring clients' enjoyment.    “Keep it simple stupid. Don’t go into this industry thinking, ‘Okay, I’m going to get a dump trailer. I’m going to go buy an excavator. I started out with my pickup truck, wheelbarrow, shovels, and all that. As long as you have that, you can get a business started doing water features.” – Jeff Michaels     Topics Covered   00:00 – “What we actually do is we get hired by friends of ours. At other pond companies, we hire each other out to do large projects because it’s those large projects that, if you don’t have a good team around you, things can go bad really quickly. We just help each other out on large-scale projects, and it just makes the project go really smoothly.” Keith introduces today’s awesome guest, Jeff Michaels, as they talk about Jeff’s experience of traveling to nine different states to do various aquascape work over the past couple of years, like installing a water feature at a zoo. 05:52 – “The more money you’re gonna make is basically on smaller scale jobs. It’s not always the bigger jobs.” What are the profit margins that somebody can see versus general property maintenance of trimming people’s bushes, installing mulch, and cutting grass? How’s the money made in the aquascape industry? 09:10 – “If a customer wants me to really get artistic using bigger boulders and really take our time on doing these jobs, it’s going to cost a little bit more because you’re spending more time on it.” Jeff gives a cookie-cutter recommendation as he shares how he was able to do nine grand works in a day and how you can do the same. 13:54 – “When I got done with that job, and she looked at it, she had nothing to say…She ended up being one of the best customers I’ve ever had.” Talking about Jeff’s first pond job, highlighting how he could do it even when he had no experience in the business as he was a machine builder 25 years ago. 15:56 – “There’s always money to be made on just this one customer alone. It’s a revolving money-making business.” What do the terms pond clean out, shut down, and start-up mean? How do Jeff and his team do it under certain circumstances? 21:13 – “Now that I know what I know now and we’ve got all the processes in place, that really doesn’t happen.” Discussion about doing the right things when taking care of your ponds and fishes. 24:05 – “Keep it simple stupid. Don’t go into this industry thinking, ‘Okay, I’m going to get a dump trailer. I’m going to go buy an excavator. I started out with my pickup truck, wheelbarrow, shovels, and all that. As long as you have that, you can get a business started doing water features.” The first step and first pieces of equipment you would need if you want to dive into this industry 28:28 – “It’s a passion. When you’re passionate about something, you get excited about it, and you want to do more.” Does Jeff’s whole life revolve around ponds? What’s the dopest thing he’s ever done regarding a pond? 33:01 – Serious about getting into this industry? Pondering Waters is doing some massive hiring right now!      Key Takeaways “On the smallest stock, smaller scale, I tried to focus on a 50% profit margin; that’s my profit margin. Larger scale, you can try to get that 50%, but it’s really tricky because one thing goes wrong on a large project, there goes your profit margin.” “The biggest thing when you’re doing projects like this is knowing your numbers. If a company does not know your numbers, you can really go down south pretty quick.” “It all goes back to tracking and knowing your numbers. You get to know what your operational costs are. I think that’s where a lot of contractor kind of mess up a little bit.” “You got to have something and experiment with it. You got to know what you’re talking about. You can take all the classes you want, but what happens if you experience something at your own pond that you haven’t experienced because, basically, you’re doing it through books and videos? Sometimes, something might come up that you don’t know about. You need to know how to handle it. That’s where having your own pond actually comes into play.”   Connect with Jeff Michaels  Website: https://ponderingwaters.com/   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@PonderingWaters   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ponderingwaters/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PonderingWaters/   TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thepondotter  Connect with Keith    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas   Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/       Resources/People Mentioned: Eternal Tattoos Koi Pond: Our Favorite Koi Pond Rebuild: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhRqfwv4QaA Jill’s Office: www.jillsoffice.com/  Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/  Jobber: https://www.keithkalfas.com/blog/jobber

Boost Your Sales and Make More Money with Patrick Clark from Sales Boost
Welcome to the Untrapped Podcast, where we explore into the keys to success and personal growth. In this episode, Patrick Clark shares his valuable insights on the importance of building an accountability circle and surrounding yourself with mentors and coaches who can fill your cup. Throughout the discussion, Patrick covers a range of topics, including serving customers at a high level, boosting sales both on-site and in the field, and the science behind creating effective packages. He also emphasizes the significance of structure, self-discipline, and the critical decision to hire people who are better than you. Patrick draws connections between one's personal and professional life, highlighting how they can reflect one another. The power of saying yes and saying no, as well as the three types of people in the sales process, are also explored. Lastly, he underscores the importance of being obsessed with sales and selling.  "You need to have an accountability circle around you, and have mentors and coaches pouring into your cup. Because if you're pouring your cup into your team, and nobody's filling your cup up, you're gonna run out. And then there's gonna be that braking moment where you're literally and I've been there, don't get me wrong. I've been there multiple times, like I'm in a ball, hyperventilating, because it's all on me." - Patrick Clark Topics Covered:  Serving customer at a high level.Sales boost on-site, sales boost in the field. There is a science to making packages. The importance of structure and self-discipline.Hire people who are better than you.Personal life can be a reflection of professional life. The importance of saying yes and saying no.Three types of people in the sales process. The importance of being obsessed with sales and selling. Key Takeaways "So I had to hire people, and hire people that were better than me, that would hold the team accountable better than me, because as an owner, you're gonna go out there and you're like, I don't need to do the checklists, I already know all this stuff, I already know it, and you're not going to follow the system, and then you're going to train the next guy to not follow the system." - Patrick   "And I was able to cross that boundary, because I had a moral dilemma, like, Yeah, but I'm really feeling this way. Like, how am I supposed to go and completely smile to these people and act like nothing's wrong, they're gonna be able to see through it. And then I'll then I'm a liar, then I'm a liar. And it was like this thing that I went through. And when I got through it by saying, wait a second, I can be going through something and be stressed out, but still be incredibly nice to a customer, because I care about them. Because it's a higher moral law. It's like, it's a higher level that you ascend through. Stop selling services and start selling stacks. You need to stack your value.”  – Joshua Latimer     Topics Covered     00:12 – “If you don’t know who he is, you will. He drops mind-bombs, and he has this way of creating proprietary language when he speaks.”    Introducing today’s awesome guest, Joshua Latimer, while talking about the stages of businesses    05:45 – “I sold it because it’s not the greatest business model in the world; it’s just not. It’s a perfect training wheels business.”    In spite of the fact that his service business was thriving at the time, Josh explains why he sold it.    12:09 – “You want your pricing to actually reflect the future version of your company.”    We talk about the typical EBITDA of a 1.5 million dollar company, along with tips for getting a multiple of four to five at the exit.   17:36 – “Price objections are a derivative of expectation.”  If you get price objections when you are growing your business, how can you change the outcome?   30:36 – “Instead of trying to get money, there are four things you should try to obsess about the goal of getting instead of money that automatically give you money. So if you get these four things, money will happen to you. Is money the only thing you should focus on? If you want to succeed and think about how to get money, Josh recommends having these four qualities. This is what he refers to as success derivatives, which will help you achieve victory.    Key Takeaways    “For a lot of people, the service business is where they learn business…but what you’ll also learn as you eventually have success with your service company is that it’s not the greatest business model ever. I’m not disparaging it; it’s just not.”    “If you think that you have to be the cheapest, well, you’re literally destined to just struggle, and it’s going to be harder for you.”    “Stop selling services and start selling stacks. You need to stack your value…Money is the byproduct of being a value creator in the marketplace, for your customers, and for your employees. Money happens automatically when you’re a person of value and enthusiasm.”    “You got to stop trying to get money to make a lot of money.”          Connect with Joshua Latimer    YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JoshuaLatimer   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/people/Joshua-Latimer/100006782565455/   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meetjoshlatimer/       Connect with Keith  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas   Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/         Resources/People Mentioned: My Website:   https://www.keithkalfas.com/ Brian Haggerty: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bchaggerty/  Tommy Mello: https://homeserviceexpert.com/  Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/   Jill's Office: https://www.keithkalfas.com/blog/jillsoffice

Why The "Growing Pains" are WORTH IT Lawn & Landscaping Business 6 Figure Landscaper with Thomas O'Halloran of T-C-O Landscapes
Welcome to this episode of Untrapped Podcast! In this insightful discussion, we delve into the world of landscaping and business success with Thomas O'Halloran, an experienced entrepreneur who knows the importance of separating emotions from the business realm. As Thomas shares his journey, he emphasizes the significance of putting our hearts, souls, and hard work into our ventures while maintaining an objective mindset. Throughout the conversation, we explore various topics, including Thomas's beginnings in landscaping, the power of personal interactions, the value of building credit, and the differences between residential and commercial contracts. Additionally, we uncover the benefits of seasonal contracts versus per-push contracts, dive into the transformative seven-figure landscaper program, and highlight the significance of being hands-on in one's business. Furthermore, this episode enlightens us on the importance of maintaining a hyper-specific list and implementing effective local market domination strategies for business marketing. Join us as we uncover these key insights and take away valuable lessons from Thomas O'Halloran's wealth of experience in the landscaping industry. "Whatever you do try to keep the emotion out of business and that's really hard when you build something because we put our hearts and our souls and our literal sweat, blood, and tears right into this stuff. There's no way, we as human beings, we cannot change anybody's mind we can persuade in one way or the other" - Thomas O'Halloran Topics Covered:  How Thomas got started in landscaping. The power of meeting people face-to-face in person.Building personal credit and business credit.Residential vs commercial contracts. The benefits of seasonal contracts vs per-push contracts. The seven-figure landscaper program. The importance of being in the field in your business. The importance of having a hyper-specific list.Local market domination strategy and business marketing blueprint. Key Takeaways "So work your way up, man. That's definitely how to do it. But to remind you how to get there, how I got there. Man, just focus, you got to focus. You can think about a million other things to do in your business, but only nothing is worth it unless you can sell something. Make sure you focus on the sale. Like in my other company, I say success starts with the sale. I don't care if you've got the brand new, more the brand new piece of equipment. If you can't sell the frickin job, it's not worth it. Focus on the sale, learn your bidding, and do it right the first time and then focus on the fancy thing, right?" - Thomas   "When you have the right people, things go a lot smoother. Like, with my crew, we have all the quotes and everything communicated on Jobber. And it's hyper-specific, exactly what needs to be done, and the line items are very detailed. And then if it's a job that it's more than just maintenance, and it requires digging, planting, transplanting, building rocks, whatever it is, I will just meet with the guys there in the morning, you know, do a very detailed property walk. And they also on their phones, they get a detailed list and I'll go down the list with them. " - Keith  Connect with Thomas Website: https://www.tcolandscapesec.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomas-o-halloran-59683b123Landscaping Course: https://sixfigurelandscaper.com/bidding_system Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resources and Websites:  🙋♂️Get My Free Landscaping Business Startup Video Series Here👇  Here https://www.keithkalfas.com/Landscaping-Series Landscaping Course https://keith-kalfas.mykajabi.com/store/8bFERMcs LANDSCAPING BUSINESS  How to Guide: https://www.keithkalfas.com/16 Get Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs Get Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/

4 Tips to a Healthier Lawn: Impress Your Landscaping Clients @Thelawncarenut
How do we DIY our way into having a healthier lawn and, at the same time, impress our landscaping clients with our A++ ways?   We all want a healthier lawn, be that for our own land or our clients’. However, more often than not, we tend to skip the basics, so we end up with burnout, either internally or within the business. But what if we tell you that even just by enjoying the “mow-ment,” you can strengthen both your lawn and yourself, thus leading both to better health?   Whether you want to do it because you want to dominate your neighbors or you want everybody to go, “Dang, this dude’s got his lawn dialed,” there’s no doubt that this episode is perfect for you!   Allyn Hane started his first lawn business in 1987 at the age of 14 with a bright orange Sears push mower. Fast forward to 1998, he started working for the world’s largest lawn service, TruGreen, where he got the knowledge that he transcribes into videos and articles, adding his own opinions and spin. He stands proud and tall on his philosophy that organic lawns look better and resist problems better for the long haul; to him, it’s just a smarter choice. Tune into this episode to discover his tips on how to impress your clients and have a healthier lawn!     “Get out and learn your land; that’s really the most important thing. There are certain things you’ll learn over time, but it starts just by getting out and measuring your lawn. So, get out, walk that lawn, learn your land, and pay attention when you’re doing it.”  – Allyn Hane.     Topics Covered   01:03 – “Over the years, I’ve noticed that there are a lot of lawn professionals that are in the audience…so I appreciate you having me on. I love being in front of this audience of lawn professionals and, hopefully, bring value today.”   Keith welcomes today’s awesome guest, Allyn Hane of The Lawn Care Nut.   03:44 – “For people that do a lot of fitness, you know your body, you know how far you can push it, you know when you’re going to get an injury; you just learn your body over time. And that’s really the same with your lawn—you learn it over time—and that’s really how you can be successful.”   Tip #1: Get out and learn your land. Here, Allyn discusses the importance of knowing your land as he shares simple things you can do to improve the lawn.   06:40 – “That’s what mowing is; it’s going to really strengthen the lawn. And that’s actually true. The more you mow, the healthier your lawn is.”   Tip #2: Learn to love the mow. Enjoy the “mow-ment.” Here, Allyn talks about reframing lawn care both as a time for personal development and a workout, explaining how mowing is like cardio that can give you immediate gratification, an endorphin rush, and a healthier lawn   10:41 – “As a DIY-er, I only have my own lawn below, I’m only taking care of one property, I know it like the back of my hand, I can take care of the bug. This is the thing about being a DIY-er; this is the advantage that I see.”   Allyn highlights the advantages of being a DIY-er as he talks about lawn leveling and the importance of having patience.   14:19 – “I’m just safer by design because I put less chemicals down, and I only put it where it’s needed.”   What can you do to deal with a pest (e.g., weed) problem when you have a dog, making sure that the chemicals aren’t going to make your pet sick?   20:23 – “Fertilizer doesn’t burn the lawn unless you spill it.”   Tip #3: Don’t be afraid to throw down. Here, Allyn enlightens you on the benefits of putting fertilizer on your lawn as he discusses the need to be licensed if you want to get into spraying -cides. He also encourages people who are just starting out to try working for TruGreen for a couple of years.   27:55 – “So many people, they want to put a miracle application on the law that’s going to take care of everything, and I get it—that’s how our world operates; we want immediate results. But lawn care is different, and this is why it’s good therapy for people.”   Tip #4: Don’t expect immediate results. Here, Allyn shares why lawn care is a good therapy for people while also explaining why it’s a must that you learn and start with the basics.   32:01 – “Go get that real training somewhere that is doing what you want to do, whether you like the way they do it or not. If they’re the biggest, if they’re the leader, go learn from them. There’s a lot of positives there, too, that you can do while you’re learning.”   Keith and Allyn reading and answering comments.   39:25 – “The first time you see a brown spot in your lawn, the first rule of thumb is to just dig; just see what you’ll find.”   Allyn shares tales from the trenches of his TruGreen years as far as crazy customers, educating you on what to do with brown spots. Keith and Allyn continue to read comments afterward   44:08 – “If that fertilizer were to be blown off of your lawn from a thunderstorm in the summer and go down into the rivers and then out into the gulf, it could create what is called red tide.”   Allyn talks about lightning’s beneficial help to your lawn. He also talks about phosphorus runoff and algal blooms such as red tide and how it’s usually formed. (Sign up for Allyn’s email list for the best content)   47:21 – “There’s a theory that female dogs are worse because they are lower to the ground, and they actually cause more damage.”   Allyn explains how dog pee and/or poop can cause brown spots to appear on your lawn. Keith also talks about the most professional way to deny a client service due to personal capacity before proceeding to read and answer comments again.       Key Takeaways   “For people that do a lot of fitness, you know your body, you know how far you can push it, you know when you’re going to get an injury; you just learn your body over time. And that’s really the same with your lawn—you learn it over time—and that’s really how you can be successful.”   “Mowing is like cardio. The more cardio you do, the healthier your heart is. It just makes you have more stamina. You’re able to do things that you weren’t able to do before when you have good cardio. That’s what mowing is; it’s going to really strengthen the lawn. And that’s actually true. The more you mow, the healthier your lawn is.”   “These little things that you do are what are going to make the biggest difference.”   “We want to fertilize the lawn to make it thicker because a thicker lawn is the best defense against weeds.”   “Go get that real training somewhere that is doing what you want to do, whether you like the way they do it or not. If they’re the biggest, if they’re the leader, go learn from them. There’s a lot of positives there, too, that you can do while you’re learning.”     Connect with Allyn Hane, Lawn Care Nut   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/allynhane/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Thelawncarenut     Connect with Keith    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/     Resources/People Mentioned:   My Website: Official Site Keith Kalfas My Podcast Page: The UNTRAPPED Podcast   Lawn Care Nut: https://thelawncarenut.com/ Yard Care Bootcamp: https://www.yardcarebootcamp.com/ TruGreen: https://www.trugreen.com/ Yard Mastery: https://yardmastery.com/   Jill’s Office: https://www.jillsoffice.com/ Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs

Key Takeaways "So I didn't have that nucleus, I didn't have a whole bunch of friends and a dad and you know, your siblings, and you know, all this stuff. So I feel like maybe there was a desire a deep down-rooted need for that, inside me that I didn't even know existed until I connected with this community. And then I was like, holy cow, like something inside me just really connected with this, the community long landscape committee as if they're my friends and family that I didn't know I missed or was in need of. And so now that just makes me passionate to continue to help the family and help our nucleus grow." - Naylor   "Just one powerful conversation. You can leave change and implement something different in your business because you got around the right people. And then you can get to the point where you've been three, five years, and you've been in the trenches. And now you find yourself face to face with someone who's just getting started and they're all anxious. And they're like, bro, I'm afraid to leave my job or go full time in my business. Do you like bro, you got this, you got this. And then now you speak life into somebody else. And they leave change. So it's a nucleus, it's getting around." - Keith  Connect with Naylor Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawncarerookie/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/naylor-taliaferro-8281845b/Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/02puy7vBLJMMjpUlgr18qH?si=94171e04991b4de8&nd=1 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lawncarerookie/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@LawnCareRookie   Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resources and Websites:  🙋♂️Get My Free Landscaping Business Startup Video Series Here👇  Here https://www.keithkalfas.com/Landscaping-Series Landscaping Course https://keith-kalfas.mykajabi.com/store/8bFERMcs LANDSCAPING BUSINESS  How to Guide: https://www.keithkalfas.com/16 Get Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs Get Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/

Like we were talking literally two nights ago. And he was just talking about that, like, stop talking and take action like, and it's good to have friends like that. In Proverbs that says iron sharpens iron. so one man sharpens another. And if you actually visually watched what it would look like, for iron sharpens iron, it's ugly, it's it's friction, it's, you know, grinding against each other and just, it creates this result." - Paul   "When you want to do anything and you're committed, you will go out and ask for help. Now you could risk your quality. And so it's always that fine line of trying to get them to be efficient, give them the right tools. But I think to your point, though, is communication. Hey, guys, we've got this project, we really need to wrap it up Friday, if we could do that. We've got some bonuses in here. You know, it's as a small company, it's nice to be able to show those guys exactly." - Kory   "A criteria of the people who watch my videos are just getting started. They're so excited. And I get these messages in my inbox sometime. And I'm so excited because I remember how I felt but with some of these guys, were all I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna grow a multimillion dollar business, just watch me. So from somebody who's just getting started, who that's their vision and their dream, maybe they believe that will make them feel worthy. $200M Service Business with 700 Employees || Game-Changing Mindset Tips || Tommy Mello A1
A successful business requires a business mentality. If you want to succeed in your business, you need to think like one. Learn how to lead, not just how to work. This is how Tommy Mello made his career soar. The focus of his leadership development was not on how to solve problems but on how to improve his leadership abilities. Your mindset should be focused on cultivating your team. For him, he can hire a subject matter expert to solve problems he cannot solve. Rather than being ashamed, he encourages us to ask for help and find the best people for the job. The end goal should be to manage these people and grow your business by managing them, not to do everything yourself.  In today's episode, we discuss leadership, culture, marketing systems, and recruiting the right people for your business. Be inspired by Tommy Mello's story and learn how he elevated his business. This episode provides you with an inside look at his secrets and strategy.    Tommy Mello owns A1 garage door service. Six years ago, he began his podcast to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. He is a note-taker, and every time something comes up in his head, he writes about it. His success inspired him to write the first book Home Service Millionaire, and he then wrote Elevate, a book about attracting and developing a winning team. You can buy his book using this link: www.elevateandwin.com/keith     “I never call people my employees. I like to call them internal customers. I like to call them my coworkers. I like to call them my team.”  - Tommy Mello.   Topics Covered:  0:33 -  “Tommy Mello built a home service business specifically in the garage door industry from scratch up to 30 million 50 million, and now they're doing 200 million this year. He has over 700 employees.” Introduction to Tommy Mello. 2:04 -  “I love what I do, man, and I'm opening up doors. The first thing I start with every speech I do is I'm in the garage for business. I'm in 23 states. If you like what we do, use our company, and see how we do things, but also have a graduate company looking to partner up with a great company that's going to take care of your internal customers, that's us. So at building little marketers out there. It's amazing what happens when you give. It's the byproduct of giving just good things happen.”  Tommy shares how he got started in the business. He never refers to his employees as employees; he calls them his team. It's that kind of approach that builds a great leadership team.  7:27 - |You guys are welcome to see my price book. And they never knew what he was doing so much better. While he was marketing to the right customers at the right time. He was branded correctly, and he didn't have turnover. And so you got to pay your people the right amount. Otherwise, your guy quits who's running the warranty call for the customer. They're not there who's running on weekends and nights To the holidays, oh, they're not there because they didn't treat my employees right. They didn't pay them appropriately to a living wage, they weren't able to be homeowners. So they had to move farther out away from the city. And now they can't work for me because they didn't make enough money. So I think the byproduct of taking care of people is your customers get handled in the same day service, they got the right parts, they got a trained technician that cares.” Paying your employees appropriately was Tommy's main point. A good salary won't make them leave you. It is the byproduct of paying people what they are worth that they provide good customer service. Therefore, you must set your price high enough to cover the cost.  12:35 - “A lot of times when I was smaller and business, I thought I was saving money by buying used trucks and not hiring the best and not getting the best trainers. And I thought I'd just help. But then I realized that I was actually losing money because things weren't hitting the finish line, and things weren't getting done. And it was kind of a hodgepodge put together. And all these ideas without hiring the best consultants, without reading books, without listening to great podcasts, without getting learning at great speaking events. I realized I was actually kind of shooting myself in the foot. I was actually making my life harder. And I thought I was going to be an expert at everything, but I became a jack of all trades, a master of none. Then I started investing in myself and everybody around me. And that conclusion has been very positive.” Tommy admits that he can't do everything by himself. His secret to success is hiring the best of the best. Having a jack-of-all-trades approach won't help you succeed. It's important to stay on track with your schedule. Leadership skills can be improved by recognizing your weaknesses. 20:10 - “ I never want to be the bad guy. I'm not a good, bad guy. I'm not good at firing people. In fact, I'm probably too lenient on second or third chances. But I've really empowered my team. And I think that that's something that most business owners fail out.” Don't be afraid to make big decisions and praise those around you. Encourage your team to make their own decisions and recognize their achievements. 38:06 -  “I learned the simple formula without a budget without numbers. How much are you spending as a percentage of revenue on marketing? And if it balloons for one month, why? what's working and what's not, when you can reinvest the things that are working all the time, and the evidence is clear, because you've got data integrity to make sure the numbers are right, then it's basically a compass. And you just got to follow TrueNorth to get where you want to go. And the CRM and the accounting tools allow you to do this, but a lot of people go accounting or smiling. I don't want to budget. It's too much work. And it is a lot of work. It's a lot of work to get it right. But when it is right, you'll find the Holy Grail.” Tommy loves numbers, he's always calculating and computing. When it comes to business, numbers are very important to him. He ensures they meet their monthly KPIs. Every department maintains a scorecard to track performance.    46:12 - “I want to see their six-month plan, their one-year plan, their three-year plan, their five-year plan, and then I want to show them how it could help them hit their goals. Same thing with vendors, the same thing with anybody. And that's the whole meaning of the word Elevate. You get to win when they win. And it doesn't need to be losers.” Tommy explains why he wrote Elevate and what the book title means to him.    Key Takeaways:  “People used to talk about me on Facebook before the podcast and say he's our villain. He is such a prick. He comes into our market. He takes our employees. He raises prices, and he charges too much. And others like, well, Tommy's a pretty good guy. I'm making a lot more money now. The employees are happier. My clients are happier, and my vendors are happier because our product mix is better. So they all won. And that's the hard part for people to comprehend. And it just doesn't make sense. But it works.” - Tommy Mello “I really believe these things, and I just have you got an opportunity to grow to be whatever you want. I'm here to help you get to where you want to be. I want to know your dreams, your goals, and what you want out of life. And if we could work on these together, what do I get out of it? Number one, I love homeowners. We had two new homeowners last week. We got a new kid that came into the Awan family two weeks ago. It's amazing. Right now, yesterday, my guy rest of the hospital's wife's pregnant. I don't know if she has had the baby yet. But I love this stuff. So that's amazing. But what's also amazing about it is when they're winning, I'm winning. I tell them if their dreams are coming true, I know mine are. My dream has to be big enough for all your guys' dreams to fit inside. So when I watch every one of your dreams start to come true. The byproduct is I know, I know, I'm successful when you guys are hitting your goals because the way I designed the pay structures is it's inevitably that outcome.” - Tommy Mello   Connect with Tommy Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thomasmello/ Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id1341478446?ign-itscg=30200&ign-itsct=lt_p Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialtommymello/ Tiktok:https://www.tiktok.com/@officialtommymello YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC95oOLvDda4V6LdyRoHb3w LindkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tommymello/ Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resources Mentioned: The Home Service Expert: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-home-service-expert-podcast/id1341478446 Elevate: Build a Business Where Everybody Wins: https://www.amazon.com/Elevate-Build-Business-Where-Everybody/dp/B0BWSNBQZV HVAC Spells Wealth: https://www.amazon.com/HVAC-Spells-Wealth-Ron-Smith/dp/142431481X Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination That Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business: https://www.amazon.com/Rocket-Fuel-Essential-Combination-Business/dp/1942952317 Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business: https://www.amazon.com/Traction-Get-Grip-Your-Business/dp/1936661837 Home Service Millionaire: https://homeservicemillionaire.com/ Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less: https://www.amazon.com/Essentialism-Disciplined-Pursuit-Greg-McKeown/dp/0804137382 The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth About Extraordinary Results:https://www.amazon.com/ONE-Thing-Surprisingly-Extraordinary-Results/dp/1885167776Surprisingly-Extraordinary-Results/dp/1885167776 Come Up for Air: https://www.amazon.com/Come-Up-Air-Leverage-Drowning/dp/140024384X The Infinite Game: https://www.amazon.com/Infinite-Game-Simon-Sinek/dp/073521350X A1 Garage Door Service: https://a1garage.com/ Elevate: www.elevateandwin.com/keith Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs 7 Steps To Marketing Your Business: https://www.keithkalfas.com/7steps

And there are things that cost money. And the most important number you need to know is 14 for it's how many minutes you have in the day, as a human, you got to eat, you got to sleep, you got to shit and you got to spend some time with people you care about. Outside of those four things you get to allocate where you're spending those minutes. And the the lower you are in business, the more of those minutes you're gonna have What's your most valuable currency, it's not your dollars in your pocket, it's your time where you allocate those minutes in the beginning of your business, you're gonna find you're trying to earn your minutes back and you can do that with money." - David   "He said one thing to me, one out of the two things, the first one that stuck with me, he's like, you know, back in 2016, when people were talking about growing their business and all these online courses and live events, he goes, Yeah, I went to all that shit. And I'm not saying anything about anybody else. But while everybody else just kept learning more about it, I actually went out and did the shit. I actually just did it. He's like, it's not rocket science. And then another thing he said to me, which was powerful asides from, you know, him just taking the action and taking the risk was, he said, you know, Keith, what I've done, because you've built two multimillion dollar businesses, you said, 1000s and 1000s of people have done this before me. Crush it This Year In Your Lawn Care & Landscaping Business with Brian's Lawn Maintenance
Start the year off right and take your lawn care and landscaping business to the next level with Brian. From hiring qualified personnel and incorporating your business as an LLC or S Corp, to purchasing equipment and increasing revenue. Plus, learn valuable tips on how to find an accountant that fits your needs. Crush it this year - Listen now! "More production is better than less production." - Brian Fullerton Topics Covered:  What do you do when you have to use the restroom on a landscape site? What’s the difference between an LLC vs. an S corp?Finding a place to park the truck - story from KeithHow to transition from solo to having an employee without going crazy. How to get started with landscaping equipment.Hiring employees is not cheap, they are free. What is the best way to remove weeds from flowerbeds? When you have the right people, everything worksWhat percentage of our leads are coming from Google?Increase the average ticket of each customer by increasing the priceHow do you keep employees busy in the wintertime? What’s the key to growing in your second year of business? The importance of having a good accountant. Key Takeaways "No, it's employees are not cheap. They're free. If you if you understand, please, they're free. But at the same time, it is a commitment. And I take it pretty serious when I hire somebody out because I don't want them to mess with their livelihood. They're planning meals and rents in daycare based on what I'm paying them. So I treat it with a lot of seriousness like I hate letting people go We really try not to do that. But you got to just jump in with your with your big toe, or your first person. They may or may not work out. Give yourself some grace. No enemies right to say hey, man, I suck at this. I'm sorry. I gotta let you go." - Brian   "Because if you're driving 20 or 30 minutes to customers lawn for 40 bucks, you're gonna you're not making any money. If you're driving 20 3040 minutes to do somebody's five or $10,000 and landscaping job it's worth it you're making money. There's people literally go and do $50,000 jobs and they'll sleep in a hotel room to go finish that job before they come back. I mean, there's people that do million dollar jobs. So you have to find out the law of diminishing returns on a gradient and where does the scale tip so it's the most healthy and profitable for your business. Now sometimes you're going to do inconvenient things when you're getting a business off the ground. Like I said, throwing the mud at the wall to see what sticks. You're going to do a lot of inconvenient shit and drive all over the place and say yes to everything to generate as much activity in the business as possible. But then once you once you really get going then you can kind of cut the fat and narrow back down and be more choosy. You got to get in where you fit in is my favorite thing getting where you fit in." - Keith Connect with Brian Website: https://lawntrepreneur.com/ Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@brianslawnmaintenanceyt Instagram: www.instagram.com/brianslawnmaintenance/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@BriansLawnMaintenance/videos   Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resouces and Websites:  🙋♂️Get My Free Landscaping Business Startup Video Series Here👇  Here https://www.keithkalfas.com/Landscaping-Series Landscaping Course https://keith-kalfas.mykajabi.com/store/8bFERMcs LANDSCAPING BUSINESS  How to Guide: https://www.keithkalfas.com/16 Get Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs Get Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/
Lawn Care vs Landscaping - Can You Do Both Full-time_ Live with MACK LawnCare.

Lawn Care vs Landscaping - Can You Do Both Full-time_ Live with MACK LawnCare.
Lawn care and landscaping each have their own specialties, but can we do both? Being an expert in every area as an entrepreneur, no matter how big or small. Does it really seem possible to handle both simultaneously?  That's why we invited Mack from MACK Landscaping & Lawn Care to share his methods with us. We'll discuss not only how he manages both fields, but also what he's learned over the years as a business owner.  If you are just starting out, he will share some tips that can be extremely useful to you.  There is a lot to learn from this interview, so don't miss it . . "If you talk confidently, then you can charge anything." - Mack   Topics Covered:    00:30 - “For me. Landscaping is mulch, shrub trimming, that type of stuff, the maintenance type things, and in small, like small planning type thing. So that's what we do.” In this interview, Mack discusses how he runs his business and which area he specializes in. 3:12 - “Let's just say it's $500 $500.05 $100. Well, we just cut that $1,500 into monthly payments, and add that to the mowing price. So now if you're mowing, I don't know what that math would be. It's 32 weeks for 10 - 30 bucks. So we'd add an extra $30 On to the mowing price. And then that gets them. The shrubs touched anytime there was anything out of order. So then you never have to come and do a whole job. It's just you come to touch up the stuff. They still pay the same price if just carried out over the season. Right. So big lump sum payment.”  He explains how they quantify maintenance, as well as how much they charge and how they schedule their work. 15:05 - “You have to be super detailed when the state is doing their investigation because every restraint or every injury or every car accident gets investigated. And you have to write it out like a police report. Basically, I ain't no cop or nothing, but I learned very well how to write out because the state will scrutinize you, then they'll bring you in, and then you'll get interviewed like real people. And there are real consequences if somebody actually got hurt or something like that.” Keeping your business detailed is essential, Mack advises. 19:06 - “I've been telling people this for a long time because everyone wants to talk about door hangers and fucking yard signs and all of that. If you don't get on Google, you are shooting yourself in the foot. You're really killing yourself. All of my lead generations come from Google.” Mac shares his marketing strategies for getting customers in faster and getting good ones. Visibility is key for him. You can make a video, post it on social media, and share it with the world. It will serve as a portfolio for you. 20:46 - “You have had to, in order to do all of this, you've had to watch some videos, you had to listen to something and everything like you got to get a little bit of knowledge. And then you can talk confidently.”  Whenever you talk confidently, you have the ability to charge whatever you wish. Since the customer does not know the actual price, Mack explains that sounding confident and firm will make it more credible.   23:52 - “When you tell them yes confidently we do this full time every single day. This is All we do, and so I can literally go tell the customer I'll be back in 15 minutes hop in the chair, can pull up my CRM, and make a well-worded highly detailed quote, like you were saying, or negotiate it verbally right on the spot. I try not to do that in a higher ticket job because you can make a mistake like you want to cross every T and dot every I, it's a little tiny thing that if you're not sure, and you're like, Oh, I'll cross that bridge when we get there. That could be $1,200 You're leaving on the table, or if cost you $500. So, confidence goes a long way. Because the customers can feel it, whether they can articulate it or not, it resonates.” There's no way for the customer to know whether you do this on the side or once in a while. You should have the confidence to provide the customer with your best quote. You can get a big deal easily that way. Keep your head up and be confident. 27:26  - “And a good salesman will go in there. And they'll find the biggest window and only clean a portion of it, or the only clean one section of like the window that has the big thing, they'll just clean that one. And now the homeowner is sitting there looking at that, like, oh my god, now they have to do something. So they either got to clean it themselves or now you sold them, right? It's like the vacuum cleaner salesman that used to come to my grandma's house all the time, they would come and my grandma always wanted to buy this damn vacuum cleaner, because she gets to see at work, they will put this little white thing in here. And then they will use this hose and then have some black sheet on it. And she's like, look, it works.” A person automatically places faith in you when you demonstrate your ability to do something. Mack's philosophy remains the same to this day. 34:05 - “I don't think about things very long. Like, I can't let me I don't know if I can, how I can explain this. But my attention span is sometimes in the middle of a conversation. I'll just forget what we were talking about. It happens all the time. So when someone tells me, No, I'm like, it doesn't matter. You know, that's just we're gonna get the ball back. And guess what? Because I set everything up. The ball comes in an email, like 15,16 a day. So what the hell is one “No” me you had someone you say the people dealing with confidence.” When Mac sends proposals to clients, he sometimes forgets that people say no to him.  No matter how many rejections he receives, he keeps going.     Key Takeaways  “If you want to make more money in your lawn and landscape business, first you got to get customers but you got to increase the average ticket value of customers by raising your prices and knowing your worth you got to increase the frequency of transactions which is done more for them more often. How do you do that you got to have a customer follow-up and lead generation referral system in place, you got to do email marketing, you got to do voicemail blasts,s and stay on top of mine, and constantly follow and communicate up with them and turn that customer into a client into a raving fan. So that way like they're locked in and then get referrals. So you build that out by having just a little bit of strategy but being proactive and consistent in how you do it.” - Keith Kalfas “If you show up every single week and you're consistent, you get people to give you some faster reviews and you get yourself on Google you create a website and have your estimate key right at the top so they can get it estimated immediately you get yourself a real business line, not yourself. Because you'll never know who's calling, you gotta get a real business phone. And then you gotta have your website linked to your Google when you let sign up all of these things. And then also on Facebook and Instagram, you have to be on them posted pictures of your work, them because this is your portfolio. If you don't hashtag yourself, people are not going to see your work. If they can't see your work, they can't validate that you're even good. And once they validate that you're good, you close the deal, they're going to do all of the validating that they need to do before you ever get in front of them or talk to them”. - Mack Connect with Mack Website: https://macklandscaping412.com/ Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mack_landscaping412 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063523690624 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUwROA0QmBFDxZ6DOuNQLCw?sub_confirmation=1 Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     Resources and Websites:  🙋♂️Get My Free Landscaping Business Startup Video Series Here👇  Here https://www.keithkalfas.com/Landscaping-Series Landscaping Course https://keith-kalfas.mykajabi.com/store/8bFERMcs LANDSCAPING BUSINESS  How to Guide: https://www.keithkalfas.com/16 Get Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs Get Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/

How to Train Landscaping Employees - 4 Step System This Actually Works
You've spent a lot of time teaching your landscaping employees, but they still don't know how? The probable cause is that we are training them in the wrong way. I have learned 4 easy steps on how to train your employees that will remain in their minds. Check out these steps. You might be missing a few steps, so this episode is for you. Please join me for a quick episode touch-up where I discuss how these steps can help you train your landscaping employees This changed my business, I promise you, this is so easy and so powerful already, and you're gonna come back and you're gonna thank me and I didn't make this up. I learned this from someone else. And I was too stubborn to listen - Keith Kalfas Topics Covered 00:37 - “So you make sure they have the proper gloves, eye protection, ear protection, safety equipment, they've signed the paperwork” Make sure all these things are done correctly and that they are all equipped with safety equipment before you get started. 1:13 -  “Step one, had them relax, and just their whole job right now you tell them your job is just to hang out and watch me. You trim the shrubs. And you explain why you're trimming.” It begins with teaching them, explaining why you are doing it, and letting them know the importance of the task.   3:06 - “Step two, is you hand them the shrub trimmers, and you tell them alright, now I'm gonna hang out and I'm gonna hang out and watch you trim the shrubs.”The second phase is to let them experience the job once you have educated them about its importance. You shouldn't shout at them if they make a mistake since they are in the adjustment phase. Make any necessary corrections. 4:15 - “Step three is you say, All right, now that you have learned how to trim shrubs, you're already getting decent at it. I want you to teach me how to trim the shrubs.” Once they are ready and have a clear understanding of what they need to do. They can teach you the same way you taught them. If they don't explain in the same way as you did. There's nothing to worry about. The most important thing is that they understand how the process works well 5:18 - “Hey, Joe, Joe already knows the drill, right? Come over here real quick. All right, now we're standing here. Now I want you to teach Joe, what you just learned. I want you to teach Joe. Step four, have him teach somebody else how to turn shrubs.” A fourth phase involves asking them to teach someone else. By repetition, learning takes place.   Key Takeaways: “So there's an accountability thing that happens in the brain that triggers because the best way to learn something is to actually teach it. There's something that happens like when you teach something, especially when you just learned it and it integrates it into your subconscious mind faster.”    Helpful Resources: The 16 Documents You MUST HAVE When Hiring Landscaping Employees 📑 https://www.keithkalfas.com/16 How To Get Landscaping Customers Right Now how to start a Landscaping business with no Startup money. tips to start your small scale landscape business. 🙋♂️Get My Free Landscaping Business Startup Video Series Here👇  Here ➡️https://www.keithkalfas.com/Landscapi... Ditch the Itch with Austin Douglas: The Dangers of Poison Ivy plants You Aren't Aware of That Could Harm You and Those Around you. Take Advantage of Poison Ivy Academy's Education Program, Enroll Now!
There are some plants that you shouldn't let grow in your backyard. It might have surprised you to learn that some of these are poisonous. You, as a landscaper, could also be at risk if you don't know which plants could pose a health threat. The first thing you should do is familiarize yourself with these poisonous plants, so you do not end up getting hospitalized because you do not know what they are.  Join us today as the ditch the itch man himself explains why it's so important to know what kind of plant to stay away from. If you are passionate about killing poisonous plants, you might be interested in becoming an arborist. Austin will tell you how. Born and raised in Michigan, Austin Douglas has a wide range of interests.  Working in greenhouses and nurseries in Michigan for over 15 years gives him extensive experience in the greenhouse and nursery industry. His specialty is noxious plants and he has been practicing for 6 years. It was for this reason that he created Ditch The Itch LLC.  It was important for him to share his knowledge and expertise while also helping the residents of Michigan. "There are so many plants with three leaves out there that you can't follow, right? Otherwise, you'll think every plant with three leaves is this thing that's just going to destroy you or make you itch, give you oozing blisters, and nobody wants that. And then if you're irresponsible with an herbicide, you go out there and you see everything with three leaves. Well, now you're killing everything you don't need to." Austin Douglas   Topics Covered:   1:45 “I worked for the only poison ivy remediation company in Michigan. And then through some circumstances and looking into things, there wasn't really a path for growth for me. And so what I decided to do was go out on my own, and I'm entering into year four in my own business.” This is the story of how Austin Douglas founded his company. 3:29 “They tell us their brief synopsis of what they think is happening. And we kind of go with this approach where first of all, we have to come out there and inspect the property. We do charge an inspection fee, we can't go out there for free. Our time is too valuable. And our client's time is too valuable. We don't want to waste their time, right? So we go out there we charge them an inspection. Upon inspection, we go through all of the garden beds, their wooded lots, and their perimeter edges, and we basically point out what they have, and we educate them on what it looks like.” The process Austin goes through every time he receives a call from a customer. Their goal is to make sure the client is aware of the importance of removing poison ivy. 5:10 - “So there are quite a few plants out there. And then there's a lot of plants that look like poison ivy, but they're not, they have three leaflets if you're uneducated or untrained. You look at them. And like all three leaflets, right? There's a saying that we've all been accustomed to, which leaves a three, let it be. But there are so many plants with three leaves out there that you can't follow that, right? Otherwise, you'll think every plant with three leaves is this thing that's just going to destroy you or make you itch, give you oozing blisters, and nobody wants that. And then if you're irresponsible with an herbicide, you go out there and you see everything with three leaves. Well, now you're killing everything you don't need to.” The author discusses different kinds of poisonous plants that the average person would be unaware of. When you don't know how to properly handle these plants, you could endanger your health. 7:11 - “Inspection first and foremost. And then we do an herbicide application with a systemic selective herbicide. Basically, that is a product that we apply to the leaves, it's absorbed through the leaves, it's carried down into the root system, and it triggers oxygens, which is a chemical hormone inside the plant. And it basically triggers the plant to grow so fast, that it cannot sustain itself with its food. And so it basically starves itself. And then once the plants die, as I said, that's when it gets a little bit situational, we can either tell the client, okay, we need to remove this based on XYZ situations that you just told us, or we can let it be.  The remediation process. What are the steps a certified arborist follows to remediate? 9:53 - “Plant health care is basically the concept that trees and shrubs have issues, whether they be insect disease, nutrient deficiencies, they have issues due to the environment around them. And due to abiotic and biotic factors. abiotic is basically manmade, we intervened and caused an issue. biotic is living, so we're talking insects, fungi, and things of that nature. And plant health care is basically altering the environment. So that way, we can make this tree or shrub healthy again, you basically have to read the tree, read the environment, see what's going on, and then make adjustments from there.” What is Plant healthcare? Austin explains. 15:05 - “That's like the first part of what we do when we communicate with a client, right? When we go out there, and we inspect the property, it's all education. So we walk a property, we look at everything. Oh, look, you have these shrubs? Oh, look, they have this insect issue. Do you have these trees? Oh, it looks like they have this issue. Oh, your pines over there. They look like they adopt the stroma and maybe some diplopia tip light, you just start educating people. Because when you start educating people and showing people what you actually know, you're immediately perceived as more professional. They immediately their body changes, they kind of relax and they go, I got the right guy. And that's what you want because then it becomes easier to sell them a service.” Seeing the importance of knowing things made Austin realize he needed to start an academy that educates people about poison ivy prevention. It is his goal to educate people. These types of things should be educated not only to homeowners but also to landscapers.    Key Takeaways:   "There's poison ivy, poison sumac, and poison oak. There's another kind of poison ivy, there's like Atlantic poison ivy, and then there's Western poison ivy. Fun fact, mangoes. The skin of mango contains the same oil that's in poison ivy. So if you pick up a mango at the grocery store and you decide to chop into it without peeling it, you'll probably get some redness or blisters on your mouth. Cashews, same thing. They're all in the same family, which is our ACA family, I believe arkad ACA? I don't know if it's Latin, it's difficult to say, right? Forgive me. There are quite a few. And then there are even plants that are poisonous that aren't in the same family like you have giant hogweed. There's another one that's like wild cows, parsnip, or something like that. There's a yellow flower of forgetting blanking on the name right now. But there are quite a few plants that can cause reactions, there are quite a few trees that can too. You know, over in Japan, they have a tree that's very similar to poison sumac, which is what we have here in Michigan. And they used to use that back in the day, they would extract the oil out of it, which is the same oil that would cause a rash." - Austin Douglas "Teach your family,  teach your kid, teach your grandkid. So that way we don't have 50 million people going to the emergency room or going to the doctor with poison ivy rashes. Right. That's the whole concept behind this is to teach people to keep themselves safe. So that's the goal."  - Austin Douglas     Connect with Austin LindkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/austin-douglas-ab1683175/ Website: https://ditchtheitchmi.com/services/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ditch_the_itch_mi/ Connect with Keith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keithkalfas/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Website: https://www.keithkalfas.com/resources Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas     People and Resouces Mentioned: Poison Ivy Academy Special Offer for Untrapped Podcast Listeners: https://www.poisonivy-academy.com/offers/A2QSkRFu/checkout Daniel Miraval: https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-m-miraval-bcma-ctsp-qcl-b886a1135/ Videos with Daniel Miraval on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@keith-kalfas/search?query=Daniel%20miraval International Society of Arboriculture: https://www.isa-arbor.com/ Jobber: https://getjobber.com/im/ambassador-referral/?gspk=a2VpdGhrYWxmYXM4NTIx&gsxid=Rs6pwtznLDcs Ballard: https://www.ballard-inc.com/

DONT Let FEAR of FAILURE Enter Your Mind When Starting & Growing Your Landscaping Business
The feeling of low self-esteem is an inevitable part of life when you encounter challenges. If you feel discouraged, you are afraid to move forward because you think everything you do will end in failure, no matter what the situation is.  Stop doing that because it won't help you. In fact, it will only push you further. It is important to remember that no man is an island and that you are not alone. Whenever you encounter a problem, there will always be someone who can assist you. So be careful not to get caught up in a situation you can't escape.  Taking a broad perspective and an open mind will always lead to a solution. Let me share with you my epiphanies in today's episode. You must not let the worry in your mind manipulate you.  “The spirit of discouragement comes upon you. It pulls you into a really dark place. It's very bleak. It's terrifying, actually. Because that feeling that what if you're not good enough, or you're not cut out for this?” - Keith Kalfas   Why do you have to listen to today's episode.   00:12 -  “I've had a lot of going through the depression of discouragement, feelings of failure, hopelessness, worthlessness, unworthy. And I've looked in the mirror and had fear fill up inside of me in the past. And I would feel like, Oh, my God, what if this is not going to work out at all? What if it's going to fail? What happens is when you think thoughts like that, or you allow yourself to think thoughts like that, the spirit of discouragement comes upon you.” Discouragement can take many forms and affect us in different ways. Once you feel it, only one thing can happen to you. It causes you to lose your self-esteem. Sometimes, it may seem like you are the dumbest person in the world. What should you do?   2:32 “So here was my big epiphany when I said, Do not let the notion of failure even come into your mind at all. Here's why.” Hear what Keith has to say as he shares his epiphany with you. You must not allow yourself even to think of the possibility of failure, even for a moment.   4:27 “So the anxiety and the pressure is good because it's telling you what to lean into. So some of the most successful people I know have a hell-bent determination and willpower, and they figure it out as they go; they have faith in themselves.” Think about how you can eliminate distractions that are preventing you from finding a solution. As Keith explains, there are different types of decisions you make that can either have a negative or positive impact on your life. 8:12 - “I look in the mirror. And if a negative thought comes to my mind, like, oh my god, like the fear of total failure, what if none of this is going to work at all? Screw that because it's not going to get you anywhere, and talking about that with other people. Nobody can help you when you're in that position.” Whenever you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, grab it and hold it. Rather than thinking negative thoughts, try to think positive ones.   10:16 - “Be careful of the people that you look up to that are highly successful because they might let you down. Like if you actually get to meet them in person, are you really, really know about how some of them are? So just because somebody is extremely successful doesn't always mean they're great. They might just be bullies.”  In some cases, people who are so confident in themselves are not necessarily good people. Choosing a trustworthy person is very important.   Key Takeaways “Don't let the thoughts of failure come into your mind. If you want to do something, write it down, create a plan, and go take some action on it right away.” - Keith Kalfas.   Connect with Keith   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelandscapingemployeetrap Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/untrapped.podcast/?hl=en YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIaWTkH4yQoDR7SnroIV6Ww Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/keith-kalfas-2964b146/ Website: https://keith-kalfas.mykajabi.com/     Resources/People Mentioned:    Think and Grow Rick: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill  Who Not How:  Who Not How Jobber: Keith Kalfas - Jobber Joe Rogan: Joe rogan 16 Documents You Need BEFORE Hiring Employees: 16 (keithkalfas.com)
