Reckoning

Brittney Long

Welcome to RECKONING. Where we stoke a campfire and have real life conversations with old friends, new friends, professionals and shoot the shit. RECKONING is a place for those that want to explore the world. Where friends, professionals and wanders gather around a campfire. Reckoning all things from our outdoor adventures, traveling, hunting, cooking, health, wellness, entrepreneurship, life & more. It's all just a RECKONING. REAL life chats, where we shoot the shit. We have real conversations, ask real questions and get real answers from professionals to our laid back personal conversations too! Where our listeners get to escape to their favorite fire setting through audio with the fire crackling through their speakers. All while they learn, laugh, and/or be inspired to explore.I feel that by hearing real, raw conversations and teachings from others that made a leap to chase their dreams, or go on their adventures, they’ll be encouraged to step out of fear and into faith — and have the tools to do so. Knowing they aren’t alone! Our “unique” time together in the outdoors, the experiences and memories we’ve been able to create by connecting together in nature is what inspired the gist of the podcast. After so many conversations with others, and realizing other people don’t have this with their family, or connection with themselves. Whether this is because us, or our kids are so enticed by technology. I’m unsure, but think this contributes. Maybe it’s that the outdoors: hunting and fishing are becoming a thing of the past (deep eye-roll), OR simply just because someone wants to be out exploring but doesn’t even know where to start. Growing up I would have been considered a tomboy, I love(d) sports, dirt, camouflage, hunting . (Bowhunting was my first love and is still my sweet spot. ) I was lucky enough to have my dad take me on all the hunts! Oftentimes being the only female in camp. . . let alone a little or teenage girl. He took me with pride and confidence in me. I’m no expert but I’m here to learn with you, bring on the experts and ask the questions. Through RECKONING, I’m here to help break the mold of what some may consider to be a thing of the past, and who that person is. To help people connect to themselves and others by stepping away from their technology, fears, intimidation, and into nature. We are the RECKONING. read less

Ryan Law on sobriety, weight-loss, hunting and building an outdoor business: Public MTN
#48: This week Britt is joined by Ryan Law.  Who is Ryan? He is full time firefighter and live in Utah. He has 3 wonderful kids and 2 awesome bonus kids. He's engaged to the love of his life Stephanie. During his divorce he found himself drinking heavily, isolating himself and was lacking ambition, drive and had hit an all time high in weight at 240 lbs. After an alcohol incident that affected his hunting trip and having to leave work early because he was shaking. he decided to quit cold Turkey and set some goals. he was so determined to not feel like he did anymore. He began using MTN Ops Ammo to replace a meal a day and kept the rest clean. he used MTN Ops ignite to keep energy levels up.  He found some motivational people in Eric Chesser, and Weston McArthur (Rise and Shed) that were doing what he had always dreamed of doing. In three months he had lost 70 lbs, was sober and had finally spent the time in the mountains like he had always wanted to. He became obsessed, you could say, with shed hunting and began finding sheds he had always dreamed of. He somehow in this journey became a content creator. Posting videos he hopes to either make people laugh, be inspired to make changes, and sometimes cry. Because it’s ok to not be ok. His true passion still lies in building my business Public MTN and hopefully one day can pursue that full time. Read the Article here or Watch the episode here. Britt is joined by Draya Grangroth to discuss being a professional hunting guide as a female and females in the outdoor industry. Her tips and gear recommendations for females in the outdoors.  How Ridge Patrol was started: Reimagined Hunting Apparel for Women. She share's how she was sexually abused as a child and is using nature to heal. Her memoir book that will be self published to help others.  Who is Draya? Growing up in a lush paradise in Longview Washington, Draya and her large family were reliant on hunting, fishing, and gardening. Learning how to provide for the family at a young age was the normal expectation growing up, but yet Draya experienced darkness as a young girl, as her brother sexually abused her. Using nature to heal, Draya finds a way to survive among the ferns and tall evergreens. Learning to hunt gave her the confidence to be independent and brave. Now nearly 32 years old, Draya has utilized those skills to build a business and to become a professional hunting guide. Sitting in an office 5 days a week is a foreign idea to her, for her office is in the wild.  Read the article & Show Notes.   Get our FAVORITE link, codes & more here!
