Faith Over Fear: Singer Gabbie McGee on How to Get Your Confidence Back
Do you ever feel like the biggest thing holding your back is…you? Whether it’s starting something new or starting something over, many times fear and self-doubt creep in and try to squash our dreams. Vocalist Gabbie McGee is an inspiration for all of us looking to overcome these confidence killers. Her story is one of leaning on faith, family, and her own determination to bring her amazing talent back out into the world. Struggling with the feeling of not being good enough isn’t uncommon for anyone, but it can be multiplied when you’ve got the pressure of the public spotlight. In this episode, Gabbie talks about her break from the music business for her own mental and spiritual health, and what she faced re-entering the super-competitive world of entertainment. She says sitting at home and watching some of the people she started in the business with accepting Grammy’s and American Music Awards was not easy, but she does not regret taking a step back for one minute. She wants us to know that not only is it OK to take a break when you need to, but not to be afraid to get back in when you want to. Her coach inspired her with the words, “Don’t let your age or what you think has passed you by, stop you from doing something right now.” That’s a word for all of us!We think you’ll love meeting Gabbie!  Not only is she an award-winning jazz vocalist, but she’s also a songwriter and music composer for film & television. And, she’ll be the first to tell you that her favorite role is at home where she is a wife and busy mom of three.  Listen in as she fills us in on the highs and lows of her life with some amazing stories about how God has used both wonderful and difficult things: from Steve Harvey being blown away by her singing voice on Family Feud to how she turned the heartbreaking loss of her sister into a beautiful online boutique called Bloom & The Bee to honor her memory and serve others. We’ll also learn about her latest endeavors, including a way to support her in the Opening Act contest for a chance to sing at the Hollywood Bowl. Small Changes, Big Impact (Habits That Help You Reach Your Goals)

Small Changes, Big Impact (Habits That Help You Reach Your Goals)
For many of us, there’s no shortage in changes we’d like to make. The little voice in our head never seems to shut up about the things we’d like to do better or more consistently. Sometimes we beat ourselves up about bad habits we’d like to break.  It can be overwhelming.  In this episode, we take a deep breath and a step back to focus instead on small changes and their potentially large impact. In our last episode “Up Your Energy at Any Age”,  Health and Lifestyle Consultant Craig Bruce told us about little shifts we could make in our habits and routines that could potentially have a huge effect. Two important keys for us were that they were small and simple. No matter how good a habit or behavior is for us, the chances of us sticking with it expand exponentially if it’s low on the difficulty scale.  Nobody wants to push a boulder up a mountain, these changes are more in line with carrying a rock in your pocket. After the advice from Craig, both of us used a few of his ideas and came up with some of our own to try. We were blown away not only by the difference they made, but because they made us feel as if we could make even bigger modifications. Success breeds success and getting a small win makes you more confident that you can crush a larger goal. In this bonus mini-episode, we’ll fill you in on what worked for us, but more importantly help you figure out what is customizable to you. We are all wired differently and have different needs and demands in our lives. We hope you’ll click play to spend a small amount of time  with us for a potentially big impact in your life! Up Your Energy at Any Age (w/Health & Lifestyle Consultant, Craig Bruce)
Do you ever watch children race around without ever tiring and think, “I wish I had that kind of energy!” Sure, that sort of stamina may be out of reach (and honestly not really needed for most grownups), but it is possible to “up your game” to meet the mental and physical challenges of everything you juggle.  In fact, re-igniting energy and helping with stress and burnout is what our guest, Craig Bruce specializes in. The former executive who tells us his bad habits led him on a downward health and burnout spiral, not only turned it around for himself, but became a health and lifestyle consultant and founded Evolve Health & Lifestyle. Their pillars are “mindset, nourish, restore and move.”  What he shares are tips and methods that have transformed his life and those he's coached. They are science-based habits to help us bounce back from the fatigue and burnout that many of us experience. He tells us that “small hinges open big doors”, and the small changes he recommends can indeed have a huge impact.  Also in Craig's mantra is "progress not perfection" and this makes it much easier to implement and SO much less intimidating!  If you're tired all the time, the first thing to do is to check with your doctor. If you're looking for some fresh ideas on gaining energy, we invite you to listen in and try one, two, ... or all of his tips to claim balance over burnout and hopefully increase your energy and mental clarity whatever your age or stage of life. INFO on Craig Bruce:Evolve Health and Lifestyleon Instagramon LinkedInEmail: craig@evolvehealthandlifestyle.com  (ask for his 3 secrets to re-ignite energy and crush burnout!)For more info on IMAGINE YOURSELF and Lanee and Sandy visit imagineyourselfpodcast.comJoin the conversation  on our  FACEBOOK, TWITTER or INSTAGRAM pages

Diversity is More Than a Buzzword (w/ Gail Perry-Mason & Mark S. Lee)
Imagine yourself in a world of open-armed opportunities for all. It’s what we all say we want. However, there still exist many shallow, external factors that people consciously or unconsciously use to exclude others. Why do humans do this? Why not take the strengths and perspectives of people of various ages, races, genders, and backgrounds and use their viewpoints to enhance our communities, organizations, businesses, and our lives? Sometimes we just need a little help learning how to do this, and this episode shows us how and why we can effectively make positive changes. We invited two guests who have advanced the DEI:  diversity, equity, and inclusion movement. They are successful professionals in the Detroit, Michigan area who have much to say about the challenges they’ve witnessed and faced themselves. Gail Perry-Mason is a financial advisor and executive, an author and philanthropist. She founded of Money Matters for Youth, which helps kids with financial awareness and literacy.  Mark S. Lee is President & CEO, The LEE Group, a strategic marketing consulting firm.  He's also an educator at three different universities and a dynamic radio host. Both have stories that will enlighten, challenge, inspire and instruct. 5 Tips from Mental Health Pros
Mental Health can be a weighty and serious issue, but that doesn’t me we can’t have more casual or even fun conversations about it. In this episode, we hear from some of the mental health professionals we’ve talked to on the podcast. Each one drops nuggets of information and practical advice on topics like experiencing anxiety, feeling depressed, being affected by negative self-talk, taking control of our thoughts and suffering from loneliness. Some of our chats are serious and some more light-hearted, but we hope they all communicate empathy and hope.  We designed this episode so you could get a quick boost for yourself or equip you for understanding and helping a loved one.  Although nothing replaces consulting a mental health professional on your own, we hope this gives you some guidance. Here are the episodes we reference:1)      Psychotherapist Blaine Lawson on “Saying No to Negative Self Talk” 2)      Dr. Jennifer Goble on “Controlling Your Thoughts When You Can’t Control Anything Else”3)      Counselor Kelli Center on “Staying Centered in Times of Crisis”4)      Psychotherapist Blaine Lawson on “How to Cope in a World of Constant Change” 5)      Counselor Matt Lawson on “Leaving Loneliness Behind” TalkSpace is the online counseling service where Matt and many other qualified therapists can help you from the comfort of your home.
