He began developing this obsession at an early age. Hoza remembers sitting on his dad's lap as a child, listening to him read Grant's Personal Memoirs.
Later, the podcast host immersed himself in Ken Burns' Civil War documentary series. This led to Hoza enlisting in the US military. He joined the notable and historic 69th Infantry Regiment, where he rose to become a sergeant. In his academic studies, Hoza found that much of the Civil War narrative comes out of textbooks. With Untold Civil War, he seeks to bring attention to unknown stories.
The podcast host brings listeners to little-known Civil War sites. These are places that might even be in the listener's neighborhood.
