Humility in the Face of Correction with Taylor Ducoff

Humility in the Face of Correction with Taylor Ducoff
“Failure that follows effort is not failure.” How do you take on adversity and stay positive? How do you run toward a challenge, instead of from it? How do you lay down your pride and gratefully accept correction? In this week’s episode, Anthony hears from Taylor Ducoff, Senior Vice President of Commercial and Industrial Lending at Cadence Bank, about the importance of unlearning counterproductive work habits. Taylor uses his childhood participation in sports to teach us how the workforce benefits from a history of “repetition of correction.” He encourages listeners that “when someone is taking the time to correct you, it's because they care about you.” For those who feel wounded or defensive at correction, Taylor recommends seeking out mentors who can teach humility in the face of adversity. For those trying to unlearn bad work habits and built better character, he also suggests: “Try to be a sponge. A sponge doesn’t just absorb – it filters.” Whether you're religious or not, we believe this episode will provide you with a new perspective on faith and work. Listen now!Did you like this episode? Stop Working Harder to Be Fulfilled with Sheri Riley

Stop Working Harder to Be Fulfilled with Sheri Riley
“I was spending 100% of my time on 10% of who I was. I had this amazing career, but I didn’t have a good life. I didn’t know, and no one around me knew, that you could have both.” For this week’s episode, Anthony chats with author, speaker, and strategist Sheri Riley on the common misconception among professionals today: that happiness, joy, and peace is external, and in order to have those things, you have to work harder. After a long, exciting career in the entertainment industry, where she worked with some of the biggest artists of her day, Sheri realized her life had no margin, she was "present" without real "presence," and that what she needed most was Christ. When she had Him, she had everything. With her story, Sheri reminds us that “clarity only comes from wisdom and wisdom only comes from the word of God.” Whether you're religious or not, we believe this episode will provide you with a new perspective on faith and work. Working On Purpose with Josh Kwan

Working On Purpose with Josh Kwan
“When you live on purpose, there is no finish line.” Why do we work? What is the ultimate purpose of our work, and how do we live that out? In this episode, Anthony speaks with Josh Kwan, President of The Gathering, a learning community of philanthropists motivated by their Christian faith to give humbly and steward wisely all the resources God has entrusted to their care. Anthony and Josh dive into the reality that despite the fact work is a privilege and something we should enjoy, discipline is also required of us. Josh shares that for Christians, “We live our lives not so that we would be known, but so that Christ would be known.” He also explains how work is easier when it’s “an expression of exercising your curiosity” and the importance of becoming a reliable person surrounded by a community that holds you accountable to generosity. Finally, Josh and Anthony discuss the idea of retirement not as retiring but “refiring.” Whether you're religious or not, we believe this episode will provide you with a new perspective on faith and work.
