Ask for what you want and need in the New Year!
The holidays often overwhelm us, caregivers, especially if we are the primary caregiver. As a result, we often forget or forgo our own wants and needs.  In this episode of Eldercare Success, I give you several ways to tap into what YOU want and need -- physically and emotionally. And, no, it is not selfish at all.  In fact, asking for what you want – from your parents, your family, medical, and other professionals, can help you find more strength to continue through the months and years ahead.    It is too easy to fall into the trap of not asking for help or letting others know what you want and need.  First, you will need to stop hiding or falling into the role of a victim. Strong, capable caregivers do not do that!  The tips in this episode can be applied easily.  So, give yourself an extra special gift this holiday season, and into the New Year, by learning how to ask for what you want and need.  It’s easier than you might think. Episode 100, Talking with Mom and Dad When They're Not With You
This is the 100th Celebration Episode of Doing it Best with Eldercare Success! Caring for an aging parent is not easy: it can take up much time, effort, and even money. But when your job as their caregiver ends, it often stops abruptly.  For many of us, it becomes one of the most difficult transitions we'll go through in our caring journey, especially when we still have questions to ask, and things to learn. This is our 100th Episode of Eldercare Success and I wanted to mark this occasion with something special for you and for me, too.  I wasn’t sure what, so I thought I could get some ideas from my own parents. Unfortunately, they’ve both passed on.But why give up so easily?  So, I found an interesting special guest to help. She’s a spiritual medium who has her Master's in theology, serves as a Hospice chaplain, and is also a Death Doula (I wanted to cover all the bases). I think you might find this episode discussion especially interesting. It’s one in which I share some rather personal things with you, too.Let me know what you think about getting support from those you love who’ve since passed.  Send me a note on the Eldercare Success podcast page (https://EldercareSuccess.Live).  There’s a tab on the right side of the page that will take you to the option to write me a note or send me a personal voice message.  I’m interested in hearing about your experiences and what your thoughts are on this episode (and the 99 others).  Episode links:Anna-Victoria Osbourn on: Facebook, Beyond The Veil Website, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. So, what do you do when you meet pigheaded resistance to needed change?  Tune in to this next episode.  Hopefully, it will make their lives and yours a bit easier!  Key Points Include:Understanding their resistance, and yoursWays to build better relationshipsAddressing fear and understandingHow to balance your own needsEpisode links::Eldercare Success Homepage: Share this link with your friends and other caregiversBook: How to Survive 911 Medical Emergencies, Step-by-Step Before, During, AfterFree: File-of-LifeEldercare Success on YouTubeCareManity website (currently under new construction)Host:  Nancy May, Author of How to Survive 911 Medical Emergencies, Step-by-Step Before, During, After!  is an expert in managing the path of step-by-step caring for aging parents, even from over 1200 miles away.
