Brandon Spain, the host of Unrefined Podcast, and co-host Lindsay Waters welcome investigative journalist and author William Ramsey to the show. They have a mutual friend from the Fringe Radio Network, Johnny McMahon, who sent his greetings. William is the host of one of the top 0.5% podcasts in the world and the conversation between the three of them is rooted in a Christian perspective. They start the conversation by discussing Aleister Crowley, a modern magician and artist who has attracted people in Hollywood.  The conversations then moves on to discussing occult practices, the supernatural and how they can be seen through a Christian lens. They discuss the dangers of such practices and the importance of understanding the spiritual realm. They close the conversation with William sharing why he believes it's important to continue to explore and research the topics he covers. The speaker was a fringe researcher who had lost faith in corporate media in the 90s. After 9/11, he was researching independently online and noticed the number 11 popping up everywhere. He then found out that eleven was a very important number in the Western Esoteric tradition, which led him to Aleister Crowley. He then realized that Crowley was writing things from 77 to 93 and 175, so he decided to research him further and learn more about magic and the occult. The conversation is about Aleister Crowley and how he is viewed as a cultural and historical figure. Crowley wrote a 500-page autobiography called Confessions which he called a hagiography, but it was the opposite as he divulged a lot of information about himself and his activities. The speaker then talks about how Crowley's ideas overlap with the New World Order and what happened on 9/11, which is still happening today. Crowley was an elitist and an occultist, and his ideas are being copied by those in power.  William introduces the book, Prophet of Evil, which is on its third edition. Today we are talking with Amy from Eyes on the Right about her journey into researching the occult in contemporary culture. Amy grew up in Southern California and was always in ministry, working as a teacher for 22 years. On her second trip to Haiti she heard a lot of stories about the Clintons. This sparked her curiosity, and she began to research and investigate the occult in contemporary culture, including Hollywood. She has had a podcast (currently not published). She has a counseling ministry and an Instagram page, where she shares her findings. She encourages people to look into what they see in the media, so they can be aware of the predictive programming it presents. The conversation began with Amy talking about awakening to the reality of trafficking and how it was intertwined with Hollywood. Through surrendering to the Lord, Amy felt a push to uncover the dark undercurrents being pushed by the enemy that was behind the media and celebrities. She also suggests that if someone was looking to get started in understanding this kind of work, they should start with a biblical lens. In this episode, our guest Doug Van Dorn provides a primer, explaining what the Nephilim are, how they fit into the Genesis 6 narrative, and why this topic is important for Christians to understand. He also discusses how the Nephilim may have impacted the world today and why Christians need to be aware of their existence.  He also mentions that thinking about fantasy can help us better understand the history of the topic, which has been clouded by church history. The conversation discusses the importance of stories, and how they can change people's lives in ways that straight up theology cannot. The point is made that from Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is one big story, and that God wants us to learn from and use stories.  The hosts and guest discuss how the Bible can be interpreted to support the idea of a divine council, and how this can help to get men involved in spirituality and church. Dr. Heiser introduced the idea to Doug, who then did his own research and found an article on the subject. The article blew him away and he realized that he had actually read about the divine council before but it had never hit his consciousness. Discussion continues with the idea that humans were given dominion over the Earth by God, while the angels were given dominion over the heavenly realms. The conversation then goes on to discuss the idea that the temptation for Eve was not to become the Creator, but to have the ability to know good and evil, which is something she already had. In the Garden of Eden, humans and heavenly beings were able to interact with each other freely. However, after the Fall, humans were banned from the mountain where the heavenly beings resided. The Fall created a rift between humans and the heavenly beings, who were jealous of humans. In the Bible, there are many stories of meetings between God and humans.  The conversation covers the topic of man's attempts to reach God, starting with Cain and Abel. It is mentioned that Abraham was likely a moon god worshipper in the city of Ur, but God chose him anyway and to make a name for Himself.  The conversation then moves to Acts chapter two, which is considered the reversal of Babel. In this chapter, many people are gathered together and hearing different languages, the preaching in their own tongues. Sleep paralysis occurs when the body's natural state of paralysis during REM sleep persists into wakefulness. This can be a terrifying experience, especially if one is not aware that it is a normal phenomenon. People who experience sleep paralysis often see things which can add to the fear and confusion. People experiencing sleep paralysis often go to the doctors, but the standard answer is that it is a sleep disorder. The reality is that sleep paralysis is a whole-body experience that is intertwined with spirituality and the body. Part 2 of a conversation where Brandon, Lindsy, and guest Neil Gamble discuss how God's grace is radical and transformative. Neil shares how, even though he had led a life of drugs and destructive behaviors, God never once condemned him. Brandon and Neil agree that this is a balance between God's grace and His call to obedience.  Neil talks about how, when he first became interested in the supernatural and started attending a church, he used to seek miracles, but he learned that it is better to seek Jesus. Brandon and Lindsy discuss recent listening and reading habits which include the Irish Celtic punk band, the Pogus, The Pathfinder by James Fenimore Cooper and the British show, The Devil's Hour. They then discuss how they see patterns in the media they consume for entertainment value. The speakers discuss The Peripheral, a dystopian TV show about trans-humanism. They discuss how the show is a treatise for trans-humanism, and how the elite want to use it to control the population. They also discuss the Midnight Mass, another TV show that is recommended by a friend. They quickly transition into talking about testimonies of when they first got introduced to the supernatural. Lindsy talks about a dream he had as a kid, where he and another boy were trying to steal treasure from an attic, and the boy turned into a rabbit and hopped away, leaving Lindsy behind. In the dream, Jesus appeared to Lindsy in a flash of light. Brandon talks about how he was first introduced to the supernatural through a friend who was involved in the occult. He eventually got baptized in the Spirit and started having prophetic dreams and visions. Brandon describes his journey from agnosticism to Christianity, and how his views on the supernatural have changed over time. They recount experiences from their childhood that they couldn't explain, and how they eventually came to believe in the power of the Holy Spirit.
