Neh 13:1-3 ESV

On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. And in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God, 2 for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them—yet our God turned the curse into a blessing. 3 As soon as the people heard the law, they separated from Israel all those of foreign descent.

OBEDIENCE IS THE VERY BEST WAY

“Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe.

Doing exactly as the Lord commands, doing it happily.

Action is the key, do it immediately, joy you will receive.

Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe.

We want to live pure, we want to live `clean, we want to do our best.

Sweetly submitting to authority, leaving to God the rest.

Walking in the light, keeping our attitude right, on the narrow way.

For if we believe the Word we receive, we always will obey.”

This is the 1st and 2nd stanzas of the children song entitled, “Obedience is the very best way’. Nothing could be further from the truth. Obedience results to blessings. Otherwise, God would discipline us or our disobedience.

James has corroborated the blessings of obedience and the futility of disobedience. He writes, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”[Jas 1:22-25]
