Terrorist Attacks, The Horror of 9/11, and Finding Peace

Express Yourself!

Sharanya sits in the host chair to discuss the shock and sadness of terrorist attacks, especially that of 9/11/01. She wasn’t even born when it happened, but the aftereffects of that horrific day linger in the hearts and minds of Americans. The aftermath affected not only the survivors and the families of the fallen, but ordinary, law-abiding citizens whose skin color, religion, heritage, and customs were similar to that of the perpetrators. Immigrants became targets of hate crimes. Islamophobia, verbal and physical harassment, and detention became rampant as panic permeated. Peace is a five letter word with the ability to embrace individuals and their differences to create a safe atmosphere with no hostility. Peace is a choice that the world must choose. Sharanya, who is the teen chairperson for the Be the Star You Are!® booth at the September 24 Pear and Wine Festival in Moraga shares her admiration for the event, her love of pear pies, and encourages everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area to come celebrate this joyous occasion in a beautiful venue. Cynthia Brian will be selling and autographing her new children’s book, No Barnyard Bullies, with proceeds benefiting BTSYA. Express Yourself!™ teen radio reporters and hosts will be in attendance for a meet and greet. It is going to be SO MUCH FUN with games, food, music, activities, art, wine, and inflatables for kids. And it’s all FREE.
