24. Teacher Pep Talk: Avoiding Perfectionism So You Can Save Your Teaching Career
We need to have a little chat about teacher perfectionism. Though many teachers will unapologetically announce to you that they are a "perfectionist," this is a slippery slope that can lead you on the fast track to burnout. This personality trait is not necessarily something you should be proud of but rather something that can lead you to resenting your career and heading for LinkedIn.Here's the thing. It does not have to be that way. Striving and perfectionism are not the same thing and in this episode, I am going to share with you a little bit about the post that inspired this episode, give you some tips and strategies to avoiding perfectionism so you can save your career, and then bring that motivation you need to start turning this idea around!Head Over to the Shownotes: teachingmindbodyandsoul.com/episode24👉Join the FREE Resilient Teacher Community on Facebook: this podcast is meant to be helpful for teachers and their mental health, it is not a replacement for therapy or medical care from a licensed professional. 23. Feed Your Energy In and Out of the Classroom with Special Guest Bre Baildon
EPISODE 23In this episode of The Resilient Teacher Podcast, we are talking more about energy levels. Energy levels are sometimes impacted by our mindset, expectations, but it can also be heavily influenced by our overall health and wellness. Because teachers have limited energy due to decision fatigue and stress, it can be difficult to make sustainable changes to things like nutrition which can be used as a TOOL to get our minds and bodies working optimally so that our systems can effectively manage and balance our blood sugar levels, hormones, and all those internal pieces that help our bodies be resilient to stress. Nutrition is a big piece of the puzzle but this episode is NOT about nutrition for weight loss. We are going to be chatting with Bre Baildon, who is my favorite teacher dietician, about how nutrition impacts our energy and stress in and out of the classroom, how to create lasting nutritional change when you don't have motivation, and some ideas for low-prep lunches so you maintain your energy. Bre is a registered dietitian who helps teachers stop stressing about food or their health so that they can gain more time and energy to do the things they truly want to do. She makes healthy eating practical, delicious, and sustainable for educators to feel better and be present in and out of the classroom. As the wife of an international middle school teacher, Bre has worked with educators and schools all around the world to prioritize all aspects of teacher health and wellbeing. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Concordia College and a Master’s degree in Health & Wellness Coaching from Creighton University.
