Have you tried opening up Facebook and noticed someone’s amazing vacation, or the new car or house they’ve bought, or the wonderful celebration with their loved ones, and just felt worse about yourself? If yes, then you’re slipping into comparison, something we all do. All these unfiltered comparisons only lead  to insecurity, fear, self-doubt, and negative beliefs. The moment we compare ourselves to others, especially the things we see on social media, we steal from the joy that’s always available to us. Hey everyone! I’m 6 weeks postpartum. I shared all about the birth story of my daughter in my last two podcasts, now I have started the beautiful journey of motherhood and the ups and downs of postpartum. I will share with you how postpartum has been so far… full of so much love and joy and also a lot of healing taking place, both physically and emotionally as my hormones come back into balance. In part 1, I mentioned that we planned for a home birth but it didn’t happen because I was 16 days past due.  Today, I’ll share with you the details of my induced labor - pitocin drip and the option for epidural, which I did not want… Lots of things happened - mixed emotions, intense experiences, conflicts about natural vs. medicated birth.  Amazing and beautiful things in the end. Every time we do something we don't want to do, we are working against our own interests, forcing our drive to  come from outside pressure and not from within. In the long run, trying to force ourselves to do something can work, but you don’t enjoy the process and often end up burnt out. Transformation happens when we shift from ‘what we should do’ to ‘what we want to do’. Accessing our inner voice allows us to hear what our body and soul wants.  Listening to this little voice empowers us to do things that we truly believe in. It’s a place of fulfillment, joy, and productivity led by inspired actions. It is normal to compare yourself to others and perhaps feel jealous of them.  Comparisons can be beneficial at times. They can serve as a guide for progress and act as an inspiration. But when you become fixated on your flaws rather than your strengths, sitting in self-pity rather than appreciating where you are, then you are focused on the wrong thing.  Understand that wherever you are right now, that’s where you’re supposed to be… And you have the power to always change that. Moreover, the experience of growing a new life has been thrilling and overall a beautiful experience. What you focus on matters. A lot.  You are a powerful co- creator. You are literally creating your own reality, the life you have, the results you get in your relationships, finances, health, and everything else.  How empowering is that?!? Or did it freak you out, you do you feel an urge to deny it? Maybe it’s easier to blame other people and things for how your life is going… I want you to think about these areas of your life: finances, career, health, goals and relationships  (including the one with yourself) and anything else that matters to you… Are you thinking positively or negatively? Whatever your current circumstance may be, by continuously focusing on it, you have made it the reality that it is. Whether you believe it or not, everything in the universe is governed by powerful laws. One of those is the Law of Attraction which in simpler terms means ‘like attracts like’. The importance of feeling Seen and Heard
We all have things about ourselves that we wish were different and oftentimes we don’t allow those parts of ourselves to be seen and heard. When we suppress the emotions and thoughts around these parts of us, it creates shame, confusion and a sense of loneliness. We all have experiences, thoughts and feelings that we wish were different or never happened, but the fact is the human experience includes all sorts of positive and negative and everything in between… and all those parts need to be acknowledged. Essentially, we need to Stop holding that shit in. We need to see it first ourselves and allow it to be there and then step into vulnerability and share with someone you trust and feel safe with… In this episode, I explain the importance of being heard not just by others but also by you and how freeing it is when you see yourself, all parts of yourself, and let those parts be seen too by others. I want to share my big takeaways from reading the book, Atomic Habits by James Clear. What you consistently do eventually shapes who you are, what you think, and how you present yourself to others.  In short, your HABITS shape who you are and your understanding of your identity. And even more interestingly, your identity beliefs (which often sit in our subconscious) shape our behaviors, our habits… This gets tricky, but I dive more into it in this episode.
