Former Indiana Congressman Luke Messer joins Students Over Systems to explore federal opportunities to support education freedom. As a state legislator and school choice leader, Congressman Messer significantly expanded Indiana's school choice options. We talk about her decades of working with governors and state legislators to create school choice programs and the current momentum to expand education options in states across the country. Prioritizing Students Over Systems

Prioritizing Students Over Systems
In this introductory episode of Students Over Systems, host Ginny Gentles lays out the need for conversations about education freedom and the hope it offers families. Ginny, who is the director of the Independent Women's Forum's Education Freedom Center, talks with IWF senior policy analyst Inez Stepman about the lack of respect for parents in the K-12 education system, and the need to realign incentives through universal school choice.Parents recently experienced over a year of closed schools, disastrous remote learning, misspent emergency federal money, refusal to meet the needs of children with disabilities, lowered academic standards, and classrooms focused on woke agendas rather than addressing learning loss and essential academic instruction. Parents are fed up, and policymakers want to take action. Students Over Systems will chart a path to a brighter future by featuring the voices of the creators, advocates, and beneficiaries of education freedom.--Hosted by Ginny Gentles, director of the Education Freedom Center at Independent Women’s Forum, the Students Over Systems podcast features conversations that celebrate school choice and parental rights.
